Using Football to Live and Inspired Life The American-style football is normally 11 inches long. Although once made with the bladder of a pig (thus the nickname pigskin), modern footballs are now made of leather or a synthetic material. The leather is tanned to brown color and stamped with a grainy texture to improve grip. At the top of the ball is a white grip stitched with seven vertical strips holding a larger horizontal strip, designed to help improve the holding grip, especially when passing the ball. However, to enhance and develop the gift of being a good athlete and/or football player comes hard work, dedication, endurance, cooperation and love. I love the game of football and over the next few years, I hope to use academics and the gift of playing football to help further my education. The best known player on a football team is usually the quarterback, the player who leads the team’s offense. Successful quarterbacks must demonstrate many skills: judgment, passing ability, speed, dexterity, courage, and resilience. That is why good quarterbacks (Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, Peyton Manning, and Russell Wilson) become famous. That is also why young football players long to play quarterback. But, we also know how unsuccessful a football team would be if it had players only with the abilities and desire to play quarterback. More and more athletes are giving God thanks before games, during interviews or after scoring a touchdown you can see the player pointing to the sky. Embracing our spiritual gifts is to confirm that we are created in God’s likeness, given a duty to love and serve God. Halfway through my freshmen year of college, I have been faced with a lot of temptations and challenges. I broke my collarbone in practice, so I had to red shirt. The devil has definitely tried to test me this semester. However, I know when times get tough even though God has NO phone, I can still talk to him through Prayer. He has no Facebook, but he is my friend. He doesn’t have Twitter, but know I can still follow
