I am leading a Challenge Group that starts in February and wanted to see if you, or anyone you know, might be interested in joining. I'm specifically looking for ladies that want to get started losing weight over 30 days.
My current job is an ABA therapist for the school district. Last week, one of the children on my case load was having a lot of behavior issues in the classroom. In order to help shape his behaviors, a collaboration took place. The classroom teacher, the lead therapist, the autism specialist, another line therapist and myself brainstormed possible strategies to put in place. We all had to observe the behaviors and try to determine the antecedent. From there, we sat down as a team to decide what behaviors we wanted to target first and what strategies we would use. We have all begun to put the strategies into place and we are seeing significant improvement in some of the behaviors. We have all taken turns in dealing
As a paraprofessional one of the biggest problems that is face is the collaboration between the team of the student you work with. I work on a team of twenty-one people who I must communicate with most of them daily or weekly basis. The main issue I face is working with the Special Education teacher and regular classroom teacher in curriculum. The reason being is that I don’t get things modified for my student occurring to the IEP and preview the materials ahead of time. Just being given the material to work with the day of is hard because if I must modify I don’t get the planning time to do so. Then I run into the student having behaviors cause the material is too hard. Looking at the problem-solving worksheet from De Boer I really like the
Today I wrote this letter to introduce myself to you for the purpose of improving our collaboration during this semester. As a first son and a fifth child in the family, I’ve received many loves from my parents and my four older sisters. My family migrated from Vietnam to the United States five years ago and carried our new hopes and dreams to this place. I was having a tough time in maintaining my native language and learning English at the same time. I don’t have any interest in reading books because I‘ve never really enjoy any book that I’ve read in the past, or just because I haven’t read as much book as i thought I did. My goal for this year is to past every classes with an A. The reason is I don’t want to lose my financial aid, and
It was a humid August morning in Fork Union, Virginia when I, along with 42 of the finest cadets Fork Union Military Academy had to offer, boarded buses for a trip to our final training exercise of the 10-day leadership training course. This course was open only to cadets who had performed admirably in the prior school year. I was told the night before to be prepared for an orienteering course and to wear my battle dress uniform, which consisted of a pair of heavy, olive drab green cargo pants, a black polo shirt embroidered with the academy name, and a pair of carefully shined leather combat boots, the perfect uniform for a day of taxing exertion. When I arrived at Terry Farms, a school-owned plot of land that would serve as the orienteering course for that day, I surveyed my surroundings and saw acres of open fields bordered by dense forests filled with
For the past 3 summers I have been a part of a Leadership in Training summer Camp run by the YMCA. It is a two week event, the first week is your “Training”. This is where you play team building games, and learn to solve problems as a group. The second week, your skills get put to the test. On the first day of the second week you get assigned to a group. The groups are sorted by age, the ages range from preschool to 5th grade.( I normally request the preschoolers). There is normally 1-2 counselors per group. You assist the counselors along with help the kids do fun activities such as fishing, canoeing, archery, and arts and crafts. A lot of patience is needed for this, along with the ability to say “no” sometimes.
At the end of August 2008 when I worked in a company called Colsanitas in Bogota Colombia, I had the great opportunity to meet to Yanira Rodriguez who is my current partner.
In team member, I have a chance to work with other people who came from different countries and nationality such as American, Jamaica, Singapore, China and Philippines. I enjoy working and talking together with a team so we exchanges ideas about daily life and tourist attraction in the U.S.A. One day, the sky is clear and the weather is very hot that made the theme park had a lot of people who went with families and friends. While I controlled the playing machine and my friends checked a safety belt of people in the train. Unfortunately, I saw the woman who was shaking and seemed to faint. I thought she had epilepsy since her shaking on the train. Furthermore, a hot weather and long queue would be a key factors to make her increase. I decided
As a student, I’ve always been a little different from others, though not in a bad way at all. If you ask many of my teachers, both previous and present, I’ve stood out for my peculiar strategies, eccentric energy, and over all the way I express myself. With this being said, it did not surprise me at all when I got chosen, so bless-fully, to attend the Maine Youth Leadership Seminar in May of my sophomore year.
Consistently interact with colleagues in ways that communicates respect and impartiality whilst providing opportunities to demonstrate their needs/points of view and encourages participation
Working together to make a change I never thought that working together can make a big difference.Just remembering the difference that I made to those people just made me glad about that day.Although I was not even planning to make a change.Although others might not think that someone can make a change I just found out that If one helps it may encourage others to also make a change. It was just a nice sunny, normal day and I was just planning on going to the In and out from the corner to grab nothing else but my favorite order #1.I loved my order because it was just the right thing for me to have enough energy to wait until dinner was served. As I approached to the window one of my friends Alexis already knew
Every once in a while each of us needs some type of an awakening to the sense that it is not always going to be a “my way” journey thru life, but instead, a “best for the team” journey. I say “team” because what will work for one group may not work for another, so we must have the ability to adapt to our surroundings. Furthermore, this awakening is not restricted to work only, but will reach out to our personal lives also. Personally. I have worked with people of different nationalities, religious beliefs, political standings, and social/financial standings. In each case a mutual respect for each individual lead to the success of our task whatever it may have been.
Merely two years ago, the thought of leading a club or speaking in front of the entire school seemed so daunting and far beyond my capabilities. But as senior year started rolling in, I found myself with three major leadership roles ranging from clubs to fundraising events. As a timid sophomore, I was dragged into joining my very first club: The American Sign Language club. Nothing about that club screamed my name. First of all, it requires an excessive amount of memorization and when I have school work piled on top of that, I was almost ready to quit.
The situation of not owning a place live, dad losing his car, my entire family and myself living in one bed and room, and most all sadness broke me down. This opened my eyes to see that I needed to sacrifice and actually work hard to accomplish a goal being an example for those around me. I was taught to take care of things I did have and not focus on what I did not. This kind of character supplied me with know how to be resourceful with a team, different skills sets, and materials. Football introduced the family concept, working out and what it meant to be in great athletic shape. Everyday at practice we were always pushing beyond our comfort zones trying to excel beyond the previous day. Even in military training there was no such thing
English 101 was a challenging course. A constant stream of reading and writing lead to a demanding yet rewarding semester. The variety of texts read and written about provided a plethora of life lessons and demonstrations of values. Now at the end of the course I find myself a better student and writer. The texts themselves were not influential to my growth as a critical reader or college student. Rather, it was my own analysis of the texts that allowed me to consider other perspectives on technology use in the classroom and the importance of revision when it comes to school work.
In my 38 years of life, I’ve had to overcome plenty of obstacles. When examining my life, especially in my younger years, it showed me life consists of an assortment of minor and major obstacles. Facing an obstacle, especially a major one, and conquering it, awards me a triumphant feeling. Furthermore, this feeling did provide me with determination, willpower, and courage to take on any future obstacles that life can throw at me (Harrington, 2012). This makes minor obstacles to become like a cake walk.
