The cultural events in a person's life shape them into the person they are today. Throughout a person's life they experience events that change them culturally. These events can be either positive or negative. I went through a cultural experience when I went from Maine to Maryland.
East Coast is known for so many different things; people, history, fashion, stores, and heritage. But the most recent trend is desserts. Desserts can be sweet, savory, healthy or unhealthy. Desserts make people feel happy especially east coasters.
The second event that I was really able to connect to was when they all ended up at a small beach in their small state of Rhode Island. After knowing that katie was going to die her one wish was to get out of the hospital and go to the beach. Everyone from her close family ended up at the small beach. Anna, the mom, dad, Jessie, Katie and their Aunt. They had an amazing time throwing balls around running through the water. Even though they knew something bad would happen soon they were able to just enjoy the day at the beach. Kate got her last wish sitting on the sand watching her family have fun. That event reminded me deeply of the yearly trips we would take as a family to Long Beach Island. We would go for a week every year in August we
Growing up in rural North Carolina was both a blessing and a curse. My hometown, Fallston, North Carolina, is a tiny town way off the beaten path. Most people speak with a southern accent, are devout christians, vote Republican, think camouflage is a normal fashion pattern, and adore country music. But while I was a child, none of these things were a problem. I never realized how close-minded everyone was or how there were no opportunities for success; I was too concerned with the three most important events of the year: the Fallston FunFest, the Belwood Tractor Pull, and the Cleveland County Fair. However, as I grew older, zeal wore off and reality set in. I started to realize how conservative and restrictive it was. What little Fallston offered,
The thing that I miss most about summer is King's island. I had a pass so I could go when I wanted to and it was always a fun time. It is a good time to hang out with friends and go on rides. My favorite ride there is the beast because it isn’t too bumpy and it has a ton of sharp turns and caves. It also is slightly scary with all of the fake warning signs. The food at Kings Island is also decent so I wouldn’t have to go get lunch. If I get tired of the rides then I can go on the water rides and the wave pool. The water rides don’t usually have the longest of lines if you get there early but if not then they are worth it. My favorite overall is the Tropical Plunge. This ride has the drop shoot, You stand in a vertical tube and you wait for the countdown and the floor drops underneath your feet. You then shoot down the tube and you make it to the end. All of these factors make Kings Island a very fun place, and the thing that I miss the most from summer.
New York is a state where there are big lights and lots of people and busy streets. I live in Brooklyn, New York and I was born here and I have lived here all my life. Personally, where I live I can walk to go get groceries that I need and everything is in walking distance. I take the public subway or the bus to get to school and there are many public schools here in Brooklyn, New York. There are delis and corner stores almost around every block. Here in Brooklyn, it is very noisy and busy. I am so used to the noise that I can sleep soundly even with all the noise that surrounds my house. Personally, I think that if I were not born here or was not a New Yorker, I would plan to move here when I get older.
The Summer air is warm. Beacons of light peer through the canopy of leaves. Short green grass dances in the breeze. Foaming waves crash on the sandy shore. I can’t wait for our annual trip to Peak's Island.
It is inevitable in a new community that one will meet people with different backgrounds. I graduated from a very diverse high school, but Texas A&M University in College Station has a different kind of diversity. Students from various parts of the country and the world come here to get their education. Having spent most of my years outside of Texas, eleven of which in another country,
Every year, the 7th graders at Wayland Middle School embark on a journey to Cape Cod. Since this was a school trip, I thought we would have to do a lot of school work such as writing and science with the animals. But, we only had to do ten minutes of work every day and the rest of the day was hanging out and playing with your friends, and opportunities to get closer with people who you didn’t know that well.
One morning Lily woke me up and squeezed me and I felt a little bit of a tingle. I saw a bright light shining in my face as bright as the luner eclipse, for a second, because we weren't in Chicago anymore. We were in Hawaii, and trust me I don't want to leave, but I wonder how we got these powers.
Sometimes do you ever just feel like there is someone out there waiting for you, to change your life, but you just haven't met them yet? In a world with over 7 billion people that is often the case. Out of those 7 billion people about 10,000 of them live in a small suburb of Michigan called the East Bend. Sounds fancy huh? Well you could say that. About one half of our town is full of nice well kept homes owned by businessmen or doctors. Then one fourth is owned by those regular everyday cookie cutter type families. Then the remaining fourth are well the others. The weirdo rednecks who love four wheelin and cow kicking, or just that one family the whole neighborhood just stays as far away as possible from. I’m one of those well normal families.
The anger that rushed inside of me took control of my mind which led to the guilt and destruction that I will carry upon for the rest of my life. This anger led to the killing of my cousin, a powerful and opulent king, in the wild land of the argos, which was full of mountains and all sorts of terrain, the island was stunning full of life with plants, flowers, and bright green grass covering the whole Island. I was chased by the Argos for the killing of my cousin, in the process of running I met a sailor who saved me by allowing me to flee the island on their ship. During the time I was on the ship and while I was running away from the Argos men, I learned from my mistake and realized what I’ve actually done.
Have you ever imagined walking into a neighborhood like the one on HGTV? Where they have the beautiful gardens and their freshly bloomed rose bushes; where there are walking trails right in your very own backyard where you see the most stunning mountain views. Well, where I’m from isn’t exactly like that-not at all to be honest. I was raised in Saint Joseph, Missouri, on 18th and Charles where I had many childhood memories. 18th and Charles is very important area in my life because, we have a good support system, this community gave me options, and community helps advocate our jubilation. In my neighborhood I have never once felt alone or that I was never welcomed, I hope to convince you that where I’m from is not all that bad.
My favorite place in Rhode Island is Federal Hill because of it historical history and it's nice restaurants, bars and a few shopping area. I love hanging out over there with my friend and sometimes we go and watch the live band while we dinning or just having a drink while enjoying the sight, especially at night time.
My experience with Montclair has been eye opening. I am currently taking Gen Ed courses this semester. Despite the fact that these courses are not based on a major, they all incorporate aspects that will be useful to me later. The amazing thing is that the knowledge I obtain now not only will influence my college career but will also affect my life after graduation. These courses have given me a general understanding of what my professors expect from me in the future, as well as the tools and foundations that I will need to base my later work off of. These courses advance me towards my major because they provide general knowledge needed for other classes. For example, English Writing 105 is the foundation of every paper, every homework assignment,
