Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment read white letters on top of an electric blue cover. My fingers grazed the lamented face of the book. I found myself falling back onto a brown leather couch in an uninhabited and silent house. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of wind running through the trees in my backyard, and my accelerated heartbeat as I looked at this new book. I opened it up daring to step in a world foreign to me. The thin paper pages were covered with a plethora of words. From there on I couldn’t tell you anymore. I was lost on a guided tour in my own imagination. I was lost in with the flock of bird kids who never met their parents. I was lost in the fight for survival as a group of mutant children with 14 foot wings
It was late one day in June, and the sky was as blue and clear as sparkling wine. I sat back in my hammock reading the book Unbroken enjoying myself, and my uncle came up and asked me if I wanted to play poker with him, 5$ buy in. I jumped at the idea finished my page and went inside the house. Poker is a pretty big thing in my family and I’ve grown up playing and my uncle was one of the best, so spending time with him playing poker is always one of my favorite things to do. We proceed to set up the table, “Texas Holdem“ he says, Jacks to open”. Nothing weird, so we get the game going and the pots getting pretty big when all of the sudden he drops his cards. I stare the cards dead in the eye and see that i'm going to surpass him! He looks
Put the gun down! Put the gun down! Pow Pow Pow. The gun shots cracked into the air as loud as thunder. One after another. We live day by day not knowing our end. In the blink of an eye our lives can be changed forever. Its life, yet even in knowing this we never expect tragedy to find us. We never expect it to affect our lives and the people we know and love. I’m going to share with you the day tragedy found my life.
On Friday 02/23/18 at 1447 hours I was dispatched to a juvenile problem at 3340
Then my brother, both my sisters, and parents got out of the car, and the first item I saw was advertising for the park. The advertising said “Hollywood Studios” and had a picture of a rollercoaster, and all I felt was butterflies in my stomach. The next day we woke up in the early morning to get ready so that we could arrive when the park opened. When we arrived, I could see all the rides and an enormous crowd of people swarming around trying to find the shortest line to enter the park the fastest. My sister grabbed me hastily and said “Come on, Alex, let's go get on The Rock N Roller coaster.” My parents walked with us, but they didn't ride the roller coaster, so my sister and I were the only ones from our family. As we waited in line, I felt mixed feelings shoot through my body. Then my turn came, and I slowly entered the blue seat of the ride and buckled up tightly, making sure nothing at all could get loose. On a screen the ride counted down, six, five, four, three,
“All forces to Star Tours!” Pascal the head security guard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios yelled to his fellow authorized guards.
You know that moment when you’re trying to reach the toilet paper but can't quite, then fall and kill yourself on a pumpkin? Yeah I know that feeling… it’s not good. It all started one very normalish day at 1065 Fitzgerald Ave.
The horse ride changed mike's opinion of his horse and himself because at first the was some trouble with getting him on the horse, but once he got on he started to enjoy himself and realize that just because he has a disability he doesn't have to limit himself.according to paragraph 1 it states how he felt or his opinion of getting on the horse. "No, stop it, I don't want to!" I yelled. Some of the horses in front of the barn looked at me, and all of the people stared, but I didn't care. Not being a sweet little angel like the disabled kids they show on TV is what gives my life meaning. I raised the volume of my voice enough to send birds flapping out of the shade trees. "You have no right! Isn't this supposed to be a free country?".
I am a piece of clay, just as every person is. We are not just any kind of clay, though, we’re that special molding clay that never dries out. Because of this, we are constantly molded by almost everyone and everything surrounding our lives. At the beginning of life, we are molded by the hands of loving parents, but once we leave that safe-place, we are on our own. At that point, we can be tossed, slammed, poked at, and sometimes even ripped apart. One important event in my life that molded me and has helped make me the person I am today was my first roller coaster ride. Amusement rides don’t usually change a person’s life, but the first time I went on a roller coaster, I found myself stepping off the ride as an entirely different person. Most people conquer their fear of heights or fast-moving vehicles on thrill rides, but instead, I conquered the one thing most people are terrified to face. Something that’s more horrific than monsters and demons, and that is yourself. For me, the ride was more of a journey than anything. From the beginning to the end, I learned a
If I'm in...I'll be All-In. While I'll be the first of family and friends to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder and unsure of the challenges within the campus community, I know myself. I am at my best when I fully commit.
Life is like a cross road, you can take different paths. Just like freshmen year when i had to either get passing grades to play football or not be eligible to play for bad grades.
It was the first time I was going to drive. My dad stopped on the gravel and said,”Drive to the house.” I hopped into the driver's seat and tried moving the gear shift. “Um, dad it's not moving,” I said. He responded with,”Son you have to put your foot on the break to move the gear shift.” I set my foot on the break the threw the gear shift into drive. I stepped on the gas pedal and the car took off. The whole way to the house it was like a stop and go sort of thing. I was really scared to hit the gas pedal because I was afraid it was going to go way too fast. Also, The car was so touchy! Every time I would give it a little gas the car would rev up its engine. As the car went down the hill I had my foot on break the whole time. Every time I
It was extremely breezy and the air had a heavy smell of ozone. I looked down and noticed that we were extremely high up on a decaying, multicolored tower. However, the most conspicuous figure was a network of railing, which was constricted like a snake that was slithering in front of me. Fear instantly started to grow in me as I stood dumbstruck staring into the serpent. The conductor signaled at me and Dean to get on the roller coaster seat, but I wouldn’t budge one bit. Dean immediately knew what was wrong and said (as best as I can remember it), “Sherwin, you can’t let this piece of baloney scare you. Remember the riders that went on it before? Did you hear them? Yes! Those were screams of joy! We humans live for this kind of adrenaline and I feed on it! Listen, in life, you got to be daring and seize every single opportunity you have. You have to do the things other people wouldn’t even dream of doing. This is one of those opportunities! Take life by the reins and drive it!” After this speech, I was so overly pumped that I jumped into the seat excitedly to get going.
It was an exciting, sunny spring day, when my fifth grade teacher, Miss Owen told the class that we had an assignment to build roller coasters. We were going to start in science, but it was at the end of the day! Miss Owen announced when students from Miss Owens class walked in that we were going to build roller coasters in science.Everyone thought that the end of the day was going to be the best part of the day. Everyone was so anxious to start and no one could wait.
A ride coming to a park near you. When you first approach the ride you walk into a mining elevator. The elevator shakes as you slowly approach the top of the gigantic mountain. Maybe you'll even hear the screech of a Yeti. You suddenly come to a halting stop. As the doors slowly open you walk through small dirt and rock tunnels in the mountain until you reach the tip of the mountain. You go out a door onto a deck which you get into a line of the minecarts (roller coaster seats).Looking down everyone on the ground looks like little tiny ants. You start counting down the seconds till it is your turn to ride the magnificent ride that stands before you.Suddenly the mine cart starts going down a small, narrow path alongside the mountain. You first experience a
I was pumped and ready as I started to walk towards the water while looking at the set of waves, to see what wave I was going to catch. As I stepped into the water a great big shiver went through my body telling me that the water was going to be cold. I jumped onto my board and stated to paddle out. When I got out to the bigger waves I sat on my board and looked back at everyone watching me, waiting for me to do something, I then kept paddling a bit to wait for the perfect wave to come up. I was just about to start paddling when I felt something rub up against my leg, I turned around to see what is was and saw a massive great white shark behind me. The shark than got caught in my leg rope and snapped it off, it then threw me into the water
