As an Accounting major, I am very interested and have become fond of learning about the varying business aspects within the sports industry. As a result, I decided to conduct my interview with a professional that is associated with the business operations of athletics. The person that I interviewed was Dawn Reynolds, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance here at the University of Miami. After initially getting in contact with Ms. Reynolds a few weeks ago, I was finally able to meet with her briefly and conduct my interview on November 30, 2010, in room 261 in the Hecht Athletics Center. Just to give a bit of background information about Ms. Reynolds, she is from Elmira, New York and now

Everyone has their first memory when they have to enter the adult world, mine just happened to be my junior year of high school. This year was just a little glimpse of what was going to be the rest of my life. Getting my first job was bitter sweet. I had to learn how to manage my time between school, sports, and now a job. After my first week of school I had to start my new job.

As teenager, many people say their adolescence is one of the most important phases in anyone’s life. As a teenager, you get to experience many great events like going to high school football games, dating your first boyfriend or girlfriend, getting your driver license, and graduating from high school. As I look back, I believe that getting my first job was the most important event in my adolescence. I was very enthusiastic about getting my first job. I enjoyed that fact that I will be able to earn my own money and not having to ask my mother for any earn. Surprising, there was only one obstacle that was holding me back and that was the fact that I was a
For my ride alone I was able to work with Office Brookes. He is an officer who has been committed to his career and loves what he does. He has been working as an officer in Grand Island for about eight years. He also worked in Atlanta as an officer. It was hard for him to get use to the slow paste of Grand Island, but overall he loves it here. If he could move anywhere it would be to Norfolk, Nebraska because his wife’s parents live there and they own a farm and it would be nice to be around the area. As I was riding with him he gave me the opportunity tell me about his personal life. He is a man who is very family oriented. I enjoyed learning more about different topics and getting to know what a law enforcement officer does.
While our superintendent is the chief fiscal officer for Hector School District, after six years with our district he just recently accepted a position with another school district, which will be effective in the next couple of weeks. Thus it has been very difficult to arrange an interview with him. Therefore, I interviewed the district business manager/district treasurer to learn her opinions regarding several aspects of the district budget. She is actually in charge of the oversight of the district’s monies, and she currently has the most experience with and knowledge of our district’s budget.

My time as Copy Chief has been action-packed. After first introducing Trello to the class and getting my classmates on board, I created and managed the workflow system and added all of the students from contributing classes. Every day, several times a day, I check both Trello and BLOX to ensure that all assets are accounted for and promoted accordingly. This includes adding and continuing to add students to Trello as new students upload assets to BLOX.

This semester I feel I have grown more as an academic student and as a global citizen. I feel that our Job shadow project helped me be a better Academic student, and that the Malala field trip my school went to helped me become a Global Citizen. These two things have helped me become a better student in their own ways.
The first time I heard about Business Professionals of America (BPA), I was in 10th grade, I thought I definitely did not belong in that organization, first of all because I was not Professional and secondly because I did not know about business. I had a persistent friend that finally convinced me to join and at first I thought it was a waste of time since I did not know anyone at first. Now as I look back I am glad I joined because BPA has changed my life greatly. I have become more responsible and overall I have become a leader.
