Firstly, I am skilled in art and arts and crafts. I am a TCW art student, and got lots of art experience this summer as a CIT by helping to make decorations for my camp's Maccabiah, Yom Israel and Banquet. I also got lots of experience helping people make projects and coming up with ideas for projects as a CIT on pottery. At pottery, I provided assistance to campers that needed it, set up and cleaned up tools needed for each period, and even came up with new projects like piggy banks and clay portraits. The tasks required of me as a CIT on pottery are very similar to those required of me as head of A+C club. I have many ideas for projects (above) that are easy to do but not boring, seasonal, functional (can actually be used for school supplies
Since I was little, I have been struggling to find the way to my future. I ultimately lost interest in each prospective career I considered. Despite my extensive soul searching, I never seemed to find the perfect fit. That was until we took a trip to a museum that became life changing.
Monday- Came in continued on book work Chapter two and then went out to the lab where. I continued working on my Copper Swage Project. I pinched the end and started to braze. While I was brazing I messed up and made a mess and destroyed the project braze went all over it. The copper was burnt so I broke it down. I noticed the scrap pile and the box with pipe that needed to be broken down was over flowing. So I asked coach if he wanted me to break it down he said yes so Caleb and I started to break it down. Then I went to the Tours Recognition Gathering. Tuesday- Caleb and I continued to break all the pipe and projects. We cut it all up and put it into the bin. We didn't finish so we continued doing that into Wednesday. Wednesday- We continued
In general pitchers was used to hold water, and mostly everyone had one. It was made out of clay that has been processed and tempered. Once it has been through the window screen you could begin. And by using the coiling method you would constructed the clay into a pitcher shaped. Once smoothed out on both sides made a design before it was placed into the fire until dry. Once cooled it would be able to use.
During my previous volunteer experience, I demonstrated leadership skills through over seeing residences information regarding Election Canada. I was able to direct and correctly provide each person to the right area. I have done school related volunteering where I would gain educational information form the work place. I’ve gain experience working with older adults with dementia living in long-term and retirement homes. Working in this area of environment has allowed me to know the different types of roles I will be demonstrating as a SSW. For the most part of my educational experience I facilitated programs and also organized some of my own. I was given the opportunity to demonstrate how responsible I can be, by organizing and running a Christmas Bazar and Tea Gala. This was a great experience for me; I was able to help create crafty items with the residence and enjoy a time of social actives. I’ve also worked with an individual who had schizophrenia in the older adult sector. working with this person was a great opportunity for me because, it allowed me to help motivate this person. Art is another area of passion I have, and that was something I used to get to know this individual. This person had severe anxiety and did not want to take part in a sketching class that was already provided. So, I took the intensive to teach some areas of sketching I already knew. Giving my time to other is something I love and enjoy doing, that way I would love to continue my education at your
One of the club the children have expressed interest in joining is a Lego Club. The Lego Club would need Lego bricks and accessories costing $100. Another club I would like to implement is a board game club. I think board games are a great way to teach children various learning strategies, while having fun. The board games, such as chess pieces would cost $100. The next club I would like to implement is a crafts club, such as card making around the holidays. The art room to hold this club in is in need of a canvas for the tables, as well as the crafts would need various supplies such as paint and craft paper. The canvas and the various craft supplies have been assessed at $200. The last club I would like to implement would be a crochet club. The crochet club would need yarn, crochet hooks, sewing thread and needles. The crochet club would need $100 to gather the supplies to
Having a school with a student base of many talents, allows for many options for fund raisers, whether it may be a bake sale or provide an event such as a dress down day, to which profits will be collected for the project. The many opportunities to fundraise allows for many ways to financially support the project. Furthermore this project would require a lot of people and a lot of planning. Since there would be lot of modular boxes, and the display space is quite big, there would be a lot to organize, such as teaching all the participants the design, construction of the boxes, and even staining or painting of the boxes. Since my school has a stem side, it not only has an design lab which can be used to build the boxes, but also has many students who have been trained or can easily be trained to work with power tools. This not only provides a space to perform the building of a project, but also provides a lot of eligible hands to be the builders. Furthermore having volunteers already familiar with power tools will help with safety concerns. There are also many qualified staff members who would be able to train or supervise use of power
During Parent’s Weekend at Marquette, my family and I went to the Haggerty Art Museum. While I pleaded with my family to not go, as I am not a huge art fan, my Mom’s opinion overruled mine. From the outside, Haggerty looked like it would be small, but in reality, was quite large. When walking in, I immediately assumed that the art would not make any sense to me like at most art museums. However, I was quickly proven wrong as a lot of the art we saw was what I would consider impressive. They were not the drawings of a line or pieces that look like a child made them that you see at most museums, but what I call “real art”.
Southwestern Indian pottery is probably the most famous, for its colorful designs and figures, distinctive forms like the double-spouted wedding vase, and unique techniques like the Pueblo “black on black” firing. The Southwest tribes are unquestionably the ones who have preserved their ceramics heritage the best—and, not coincidentally, the ones who still live nearest to their original homelands. Elsewhere in North America, Indians were forcibly transplanted to reservations where their traditional agriculture was not viable; less malignantly; some tribes, like the Sioux and Cheyenne, abandoned their farming practices and adopted a more nomadic lifestyle when they acquired horses from the Europeans and were able to pursue the buffalo
My projects for the year included Leadership, Market Beef, Visual Arts and Crafts, Photography, Woodworking, Shooting Sports — Air Rifle and BB gun, Girls Buymanship, Clothing Construction, and Foods & Nutrition. I enjoy
People say that I’m too young to have problems in my life but they don’t know that even though I’m only sixteen years old, life forced me to become a mature person at a young age. I see things differently than most teenagers, which means that it’s harder for me to fit in. I’m not good at making friends, I’m very selective but I like to help people if they need me. My crucible started since I came to the United States when I was twelve, and after that my life has been so different.
At the young age of __, I would watch my my mom leave and then come home glistening, talking about everything she had learned at Michaels craft store. I decided that I wanted to participate as well and begged my mother to allow me to accompany her. When I first got there I did not know what to expect. Our instructor was teaching us the wonders of fondant and how to maneuver it into different forms. I was so intrigued, how could something so plain and boring be transformed into such beautiful petals, roses, trucks and more. My small hands could not do the same things as my mother. I would see my mother do everything with little to no effort as I practically killed every rose the instructor asked me to make. My hands were not delicate nor kind to the fondant, but instead I would accidentally ruin every petal I attempted making.
Another recent passion and extracurricular that I discovered last year was ceramics. Whenever I create a piece, I strive to make it unique and push the boundaries of my imagination, making bowls or miniature palaces that
“What do these kids do over the summer without school or the after school program? Where will they get food and someone to care for them and love them?” I continued brainstorming ideas to get the kids out of their hopeless, hungry summer. Crafts have always been a strongpoint for me, so I went to the afterschool coordinator with a containing all details the program would entail, from the crafts to the supplies to the cost. After getting a go from the coordinator, I began my six month journey to create the best art program I could. As I started gathering supplies for the crafts, I realized that some of crafts were too difficult to prosecute for either the kids or me. Later thankful for that roadblock, I came up with a whole new plan; I came up with themes that went along with a craft as well as an activity that went along with each theme. Not only were the crafts cute and fun, but also served a purpose: from decorating pillows and tie-dyeing shirts, to making homemade chiapets to teach responsibility. The summer months drew nearer as I scrambled to finish shopping and preparing each craft. Recognizing it was too difficult to accomplish on my own, I began to get my
My project is going to entail two main parts. The first part is volunteering at the Orchard Place, a child’s mental health facility. We will help at the afterschool program on Wednesday October 12th. While there, we will help children with homework, read to them, and play/interact with them. The second part involves bringing a gift basket full of school supplies to the Orchard Place as a donation when we visit. The Orchard Place puts on the program we are volunteering for every Wednesday. The program is designed to give children a place to go after early release from school on Wednesdays so they are not going home to an empty house. Since children are in need of homework help at the Orchard place, our donation of school supplies will help better their mental health by providing them with the tools
I have learned many things over the thirty-plus hours I have spent on my Senior Project. My Senior Project is learning how to Crochet, and so far I have have created scarves, a blanket and granny squares. During this time, I have learned how to prioritize, organize, pay attention to detail and learn how to budget. Crochet, while a relaxing pastime, was a lot more complicated than I had anticipated at first. Crocheting takes up space, materials and most importantly lots of time.
