Having a significant amount of experience at the BU Goldman School of Dental Medicine, I think it is a perfect fit for me. My earliest experience at the school was observership in the Endodontics department, where under the guidance of residents and faculty, I got exposure to US dentistry for the first time. The high-quality academics and excellent patient care I observed was exhilarating. My inspiration for joining dentistry was to contribute towards society, hence the community health programs and international dental missions, being the highlight of the school, would help me give back to the community by serving those in need. Furthermore, the research department captivated my interest as I desire to enter the field of research in future
In addition, this school has a nationally recognized research facility. My research experience has enabled me to think like a scientist. I plan to continue doing research in medical school. I believe that by attending here, I will have a chance to use my research knowledge to advance medical and scientific knowledge
For instance, Penn Dental Medicine is offering PennSmiles mobile van for children of West Philadelphia. This activity also satisfies my dream by helping underserved areas and concentrating on preventive dentistry. Additionally, Penn Dental Medicine also supports many extracurricular activities. The more interesting characteristics about Penn Dental Medicine is its policy and respect for cultural diversity. I have grown up in India, the country of various cultures, different races, and numerous different languages, variety in food and many other variants.
Being a first year student at the Fortis Institute Dental Hygiene School, I have experienced many wonderful things. I have made new friendships, enhancing my learning experience, furthering my career, and my personal favorite experience, clinic. I have learned many techniques from observing the other students during this time. Also, being in the clinic had shown me that being an RDH is what I want to do. In my essay I will discuss my Fears, experiences, observations, my new found confidences, and finally how my view of Dental Hygiene has changed.
I feel the knowledge I have acquired from both private and NHS dentistry lays a solid foundation to build upon at university level study. Ten years of employment has shown me the importance of maintaining appropriate personal and professional behaviour; I am aware that I am constantly representing the dental profession, even outside the workplace. I embrace being patient, positive and productive and found an optimistic, constructive attitude can encourage great team work with colleagues, to deliver the best service, particularly in a patient setting. In recognition of my professionalism, I was given the responsibility of the in-practice training of three trainee Dental Nurses and commended on my efforts to provide them with a thorough understanding of working in surgery. In further appreciation of my commitment, I was selected by management to assist a European Economic Area national dentist, who relied on my knowledge of NHS dentistry to support him, in his Vocational Training Equivalent
My alarm went off at 6:30 I clicked snooze and got off the couch and went upstairs to the bed and laid back down. Then I plugged my phone up into my charger and set my alarm for 7:25 and went back to sleep. When it went off again to wake me up and I got up and went straight to my mom to remind her that I'm going out of town for the weekend and she asked me about everything again to make sure everything was okay and reminded me about my orthodontist appointment. So, I ran my shower picked out my outfit for the day and then jumped in the shower, then when I got out my momma was asking me where her phone was. I said it was on the bed, she said no it was not and then I called her phone and walked out to the ironing board. That's when she found it and I asked for my card once again and she gave it to me and said don’t spend all your money now.
Over the past two years since I started working as a dental assistant at Kidwell and Albus Dentistry, watching and learning from the doctors, hygienists and assistants as well as helping them. I have realized that there is a lot of joy, and satisfaction when I help the patients improve their dental hygiene and provide the best service possible along with my coworkers. I have gained a lot of experience about what the job entails, the benefits, drawbacks, and ultimately concluded that dental hygienist is the career path that I want to pursuit at this moment in my life, mainly because of three reasons which are professional fulfillment, financial stability, and time flexibility.
As a registered chairside dental assistant at Dental Specialty Clinic, I was the lead dental assistant and my job included to assist doctor with oral procedures and lead our dental team. My role was to keep track of time and our team so that planned patients were given care from the scheduled time.
Another reason why I chose dentistry as a profession is because the connection dentists build with their patients. While I was volunteering at Dentistry from the Heart, an annual event providing free dental treatments, the dentist asked me to try to calm down a crying Vietnamese girl, Ha, as he waited to finish her extraction. I wanted to keep her mind off of the pain, so I spoke to her in Vietnamese about various topics ranging from cartoons to her
My commitment to dentistry was inspired by Dr. Peter’s commitment to uphold the profession, his genuine enthusiasm, and his kind personality that makes every visit to the dentist a positive one. Having spent countless hours with Dr. Peter, I noticed quickly his abilities went beyond just his extremely steady hands and included managing multiple patients, his staff, and his practice. The passion Dr. Peter has for dentistry has certainly rubbed off on
At the age of thirteen, I decided that I wanted to become a dentist. I have since read countless dental textbooks explaining everything from anatomy to treatment of oral diseases. My junior year of high school, I entered the Dental Assistant program at the Clark County Skills Center. Through the program I gained the knowledge needed to become a dental assistant. The Skills Center further strengthened my decision to become a dentist by teaching me how the dental world truly functions. In December of 2105, at the age of 16, I became a Certified Dental Assistant and began working at Design Dentistry. Working at Design Dentistry with Dr. Wenzinger has inspired me to continue my education, and I plan to further my education to become a dentist.
Dentistry offers the ability to apply my interests in science whilst having the opportunity to communicate with people and to make a positive contribution in their lives. I developed my interest in dentistry during my regular check-ups where I got to know my dentist and build up a relationship with them. I believe that with my dedication and work ethic alongside my extensive volunteering, I have the ability to become a reputable dentist. An aspect of dentistry that I enjoy is the ‘hands on’ experience obtained and the teamwork involved alongside the mentally and physically challenging demands of the profession.

Why is this Graduate program right for you, both academically and professionally? What might you contribute to the program, both as a student and afterwards?
This was a one day all-day event called The UCSF Research and Clinical Excellence Day where I assisted several dental students through their day on presenting their research project. By serving as an extension for each dental students, I performed tasks including displaying their posters, finalize their visual and auditory presentation, and other smaller tasks that make their day more efficient. This day is an important day for the participating dental students because it gives them the opportunity to showcase their research project to distinguished individuals including the president of California Dental Association, the PhD Committee Chair, and their own peers and classmates. It is also an opportunity for them to provide inspiration to others,
Education is an important factor to succeed at my goal of becoming a dentist. The goal of going to dental school along with four years of undergraduate school at Northern Arizona University is a very ambitious goal. The reason why I have set such a drastic goal of becoming
