The first word that comes to my mind when I think of Rutgers University is the place of opportunities. Variety of successful people with good experience are being a member of this society would be full of blessing and beneficial privilege. As a future Rutgers student as I wish , I am sure I will be able to combine my strength , patience and thinking level with the high level of education in Rutgers . I am proud to say I came from Egypt ; the country of great culture and intelligent scientists and mathematician. I also was picked to join the national honor society in my school as I have the highest GPA. I believe that I can truly express my individuality at this university, and hope to bring something new like I did in my high school and in
My trade at the Woodland Job Corps Center in Laurel, MD is carpentry. I chose carpentry because I love to construct buildings. I have always wanted to build and design my own home. The plan is to build my mother’s house in the future. At this time there is a demand for carpenters in Maryland. My goal is to seek employment as a carpenter in Silver Springs MD, once I leave Woodland Job Corps Center in Laurel MD. A company located in Silver Springs MD, Terry Carpenters states “if I sign up and join their business, they will help me find homeowners that need help building and repairing” (Carpenters). If I choose to work for a company like them, I can start my own business for myself. Their slogan is “Get new clients Grow your business, we connect you with homeowners who are looking for your services” (Carpenters).
While attending UMD, I have held four different jobs. My main job is a summer internship through Bolton & Menk, Inc. I worked there this past summer and was re-hired for this upcoming summer. My job duties included data entry, construction observation, field measurements, and daily field reports for many multi million dollar road construction projects around the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and Mystic Lake Hotel. I observed the installation of storm sewer pipes and service entrances in addition to doing field calculations to correct pipe grades. I also observed parking lot and roadway preparation and asphalt laydown. Concrete work was checked and tested for compliance with state regulations in addition to checking string lines for
As a faculty member, I have experience teaching to diverse audiences. During my time at Youngstown State University, I worked within a student population that had a significant minority and low-income population. I provide opportunities for all students within my courses. In my class, I foster an environment where students are respectful yet feel safe to offer diverse opinions that will be of benefit to everyone in the class. Within my courses I often add an assignment to write about a diversity issue within community. I have also brought speakers to my classes from various minority communities.
In the process of me completing an internship at the Department of Human Services, (DHS) in the department of children and families, I was asked to supervise a home visit with the non-custodial parent which in this particular case (father). So in this case the visit always takes place at the local park within the community. The custodial parent (mother) drove by the park and seen that the child’s father brought along his present girlfriend’s daughter to accommodate him with his visit with his son. The mother got upset because the father brought along his girlfriend’s
I felt anxious about attending RU. Now that I have been here a week I am feeling motivated. Living close to campus gives me the ability to be completely immersed in the college lifestle, therefore, allowing me to have the chance to join various clubs and the chance to use the many resources that will advance my academic career. Being able to join a club here at Rutgers will help me be able to feel like a Rutgers student. The amount of opportunities this school has is endless, and I plan on taking full advantage of such benefits.
This internship experience at Superdome Sports has allowed me to build on many skills needed to develop my professional career. For starters, it has given me the opportunity to effectively communicate with peers and professionals, both orally and in writing. My responsibilities included a lot of communication with the customers at the front desk, where I helped them with any questions or issues they may have had. I was able to build my customer service skills by helping them in the best possible way with the most clear and correct answers. I also worked with many employees. It was my responsibility to clearly communicate the schedule for the week as well as the staff schedule for the counselors. Not only that, but whenever there was a
Today was my first day at my new internship at Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs) at Saint James. I worked alongside with my site supervisor Sue-Ann Villano, she gave an introduction to RHIO and its purpose. I was also introduced with other employees in the office and their contributions to RHIO.
Doing my internship at AMH did not afford much opportunity to advocate for clients. The state has specific guidelines for what can and cannot be done for clients. Funding for AMH comes from the government and policy and procedures are created from federal and state decision makers. There is only a certain type of client that can be served at AMH. They cannot have any form of insurance and many have no income. When a client is approved for Medicaid, they are immediately referred out. There is no thought to how transferring them to a different counselor is going to affect them. The rules are the rules and when one door opens, the other one closes. It is also difficult for those who are used to getting certain medications to help with their
When I first started the internship, I was not sure if I would like working in Human Resources. Once I started the internship, I began to enjoy working within Human Resources. Working in the field for three months, has made be change my focus within Healthcare Administration. My preceptor was a great role model. Andrea was flexible around my schedule. Everyone at the internship was welcoming and willing to teach me ways to complete tasks. Friendship Home Healthcare, Inc. is located on Murfreesboro Rd., which is 15 minutes from my house. I gained strong relationships with staff outside of the Human Resource Department. Although I was hired as an intern, I was treated like a full time employee. The most amazing thing about this internship experience is that it really bridged the gap between learning things in school and actually applying some of the school knowledge into a reality.
Due to my great passion and excitement for event planning, I applied for the summer Special Events internship program. I learned about this position through The George Washington University’s student job portal. I am currently a GW School of Business first-year student planning to pursue in the Sport, Event, and Hospitality Management concentration.
Experiencing life at the top can give people a sense of power and invincibility. It makes them feel as if they are above the world and they have a better life than the person next to them. My invincibility blossomed right after my eighth-grade graduation. Being in the eighth-grade, I lived at the top of the middle school food chain. Feeling untouchable became normal to me. High school began next year, and I knew my athletic, social, and academic abilities were at the top. Peaks did not appear in my vocabulary. I believed I would get to the top, and I would stay at the top. What could possibly stop me from getting anything I wanted?
I think the courses I took at Wayne State prepared me for my internship. Through my internship I would look back at notes or books from past classes and was able to find information on the things I was looking for. However, medications are super hard to learn, and there are a ton of them. I know there is a medication class that’s an elective, so I wish I would of taken that so I could better understand some of the
For my internship, I had the opportunity to intern at the YWCA of San Diego in the program Becky’s House. It is a program specifically for women and children escaping domestic violence. Out of three interns, I was the only fortunate one selected to work in the domestic violence shelter as well as the transitional housing program. It was a drastic change from day to day working in both settings.
I started my Fashion Major with Mrs. Walker on September 6. The experience is different than a typical internship, because Mrs. Walker is a teacher at my school and the internship is in a normal class environment. Being able to work with a teacher than I 'm already acquainted with and comfortable around made the experience more relaxed. During the first day, Mrs. Walker and I created lists of monthly goals, expectations of my performance in her class, and field trip ideas.
