Throughout my internship this summer, I have had the opportunity to meet many new people and learn a lot about them. While interviewing them, however, I was able to learn about their experiences; how they all had different paths and ended up at the same place and industry, Superdome Sports.
Nancy Walters, the program director at Superdome Sports, was the first person I interviewed. As the program director, her responsibilities are to nurture and develop new and existing programs. She also has the responsibility of developing relations with outside parties, such as schools, PTO’s, recreation departments, and other parties that will allow business to flow into the organization. She grew up in Upper Saddle River, just a few towns over from

Nancy completed her undergraduate degree at Hofstra University and William Paterson University, majoring in psychology. She also holds two masters degrees in teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is now in the process of pursuing her doctorate in Reading as well.
What I found extremely interesting was how she ended up at the Superdome. From her educational background, she went for the path of working with children and students, developing their needs and abilities in the classrooms. However, she works at the Superdome, developing programs and building relationships with surrounding businesses and organizations. As the interview continued, I learned that, in addition to her career at Superdome Sports, she runs and operates her own company that provides classes for young children. Within this company, she is responsible for her own marketing, public relations, and everything needed to run a business. Before working at the Superdome, she was a teacher for nine years for kindergarten and first grade, and is still an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. I was extremely impressed when she was telling me all about her experiences. Sometimes,

I have learned that with hard work and motivation, anything is possible; and I am able to see that through her experience and success. Nancy is very positive, outgoing, and an overall nice person to be around. She lightens everyone’s mood when she walks through the door. Although she is working in this industry more as a way to build her public relations and business skills for her own company, I am still able to see how dedicated she is at anything she does. She is a great role model and I am happy to have had the opportunity to meet her and learn more about her path through her professional
Wendy and I discussed her degree and educational background. Wendy earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in science education with an emphasis in English and journalism. For 13 years Wendy worked as an English teacher but stated, “She always had a love for counseling” (personal communication, July 7, 2015). She made the decision to enroll in a master’s level program. Wendy attended and graduated from Lakeland College with a master’s degree in school counseling. Wendy currently works at Read Elementary located in
It was the hottest day of the year! The 2015 Minco Football Team went on their 1st annual Survival Trip and had a near death experience. The whole team got lost at Mt. Scott on the month of June. Some team members got sick and even injured, but the good thing was we all survived.
On Wednesday, January 25 at 10: 30, I interviewed Stephanie Moret, a graduate student at Northern Arizona University. Ms. Moret is an English major, with her specific graduate program being Rhetoric, Writing and Digital Media. Her thesis focuses on how using social media could solve problems with understaffing, specifically in her hometown. Hopefully in a few months she will be able to put her thesis to the test back home, where she hopes to get a job with the city. She will help with their social media and marketing department, as well as overseeing their aquatics department. I met Ms. Moret my first semester at NAU in English 105, where she instructed me on how to write a wide variety of essays both individually and collaboratively. I chose to interview Ms. Moret because I am currently unaware as to what I want to do career wise, however, I know that I will be
Overall, my interview with Mari Jo Turner worked out better than I had anticipated, she was able to deal with me for 30 mins and explain the history of how the Hispanic League took a lead in our society. I was fortunate enough to have experienced many of their events and programs. The passion and devotion the staff members, board members, and the executive director display are performances not taken for granted nor will it because you can experience the testimonies of other Hispanic/Latinos that have been touched by this organization. I could tell Mrs. Turner cares about what she does to enhance the academic performance of the Hispanic/Latino students and its community. She is passionate and devoted to her job regardless of the obstacles they
Ottawa-Glandorf athletics taught me more than I ever thought I would have learned. Being apart of Titan sports comes with a stigma: a stigma to be great, to work hard, and to carry good sportsmanship. I participated in Ottawa-Glandorf sports so I could be apart of a team, enhance leadership skills, and build relationships with peers. My freshman year I decided to join the girls soccer team. I was a little hesitant as I was the only Glandorf girl on the team, but after the first week of practice, I met some of my best friends I have today. Although I didn’t get much playing time, I always tried my hardest, gave it my all, and was a leader on and off the field.
When it comes to the sports industry, there are many different jobs within organizations and businesses. Prior to interviewing someone, I did a large amount of research on jobs within the NCAA. My ideal interview would have been with the athletic director for the University of Florida, because my goal is to one day become an athletic director. However, Jeremy Foley is a very busy man and was not available to meet with me. Therefore, I interviewed who I believe to be the next best person. I interviewed the coordinator of volleyball operations for the University of Florida Gators, Alesha Busch. Although Alesha does not deal directly with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), she abides by the organizations rules and deals with them through the University Athletic Association (UAA). The reason I chose to interview
Here we go again, I feel like this has been the topic since the clock read 0;00 in Lambeau back in January. Since the moment the Cowboys 2014 season was over this has been the news. Well that, and Tom Brady apparently doesn't like his balls fully inflated. Why are people so hung up on this? Are we as fans blinded by a hope and desire to win that when we being to get a tad worried about it we quietly say to ourselves "Jerry and Co have it all worked out". Because I know that I have. Should we be more worried?
Cold harsh winds in the air on the day of that 11th day in April 2002 in Roslyn, New York. Besides the awful weather, I was born that day. My life contains of my wonderful family with all my brothers, parents, and even my dogs. I also like to do my hobbies which consist of golf, fishing, and the racetrack. The 3rd thing that is very close to me is my New York football Giants. My exceptional family, my hobbies, and the New York Giants all explain my life.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Natalie. She is honest, dependable, and incredibly hard-working. Beyond that, Natalie is an intellectually impressive and ambitious student who is always ready to further herself in any program. Along with her undeniable talent, Natalie has always been an absolute joy to work with.
It was great talking with you. I always enjoy meeting someone from SC. Plus you are a Gamecock fan like myself. I went to the A&M game last year when they came to town. Hopefully this season is better than the last one.
Two years ago at Diamond Lakes Ball Field I started to play softball, I was scared and I really didn’t want to play because I was the youngest on the team. To begin with I started to practice with my team and at home with my mom, stepdad, and sister. After a little practice I became better and learned the skills needed to play the game.
As an Accounting major, I am very interested and have become fond of learning about the varying business aspects within the sports industry. As a result, I decided to conduct my interview with a professional that is associated with the business operations of athletics. The person that I interviewed was Dawn Reynolds, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance here at the University of Miami. After initially getting in contact with Ms. Reynolds a few weeks ago, I was finally able to meet with her briefly and conduct my interview on November 30, 2010, in room 261 in the Hecht Athletics Center. Just to give a bit of background information about Ms. Reynolds, she is from Elmira, New York and now
It all started when i was in fourth grade. It all changed what inspired me came by whole big dream that i wanted to be successful at. I was at school just a normal day, and it was times to go to PE, and my coach got out a circular ball that i had never seen in my life. It was kinda colorful, it had some weird word written on it, but i couldn't see from where i was standing. My coach handed us each one of these balls, and coach called them volleyballs. My coach told us what to do and what not to do, so i was at this net, and just gave the ball a high five because that's what he said to do. Coach came over to me, and kinda directed me through and told me it was called a serve. That day i went home thinking about it, and i decided i want to do
The person whom I've decided to interview for this interview project is Julie. I have known her and her family for the majority of my life. So, I thought that she would be an excellent candidate for the project. Already being very comfortable with one another we could have a good informal interview after dinner one night, which is just what we did. She was born and raised here in Greeley, Colorado, in the United States; she is of mixed racial, ancestry, Mexican American and Caucasian, she is currently thirty-one year's old. The oldest of four daughters, and has been married to her husband for ten year's now, he is of Caucasian ancestry, they have no children themselves. Last year she was finally promoted to the general manager of a different
At this point in the semester, I am five weeks into my practicum. Throughout the past five weeks I have come to learn a lot from Tyler, the Sports Coordinator at the Y. One of the biggest surprises that I have learned from this experience is the amount of time and team effort it takes to be a sports coordinator. While at the Y I have helped Tyler run and supervise different sports programs for the youth and with every new program there is more and more work that goes into it. When I started at the Y, there was already a session in progress. Each session is eight weeks in duration and there are several programs within the session. Now that the previous session has ended Tyler is showing me how to create the next session. With this I have observed that there is a lot of team effort that goes into building these programs.
