I have had many great mentors that have stood out in my life thus far, but I have one lady that really stands out. Her name is Tina; I know her better as Ms. Hicks. She is a kindergarten teacher and Glee Club director at the middle school I attended. I came to know her really well when I joined the Glee Club my sixth grade year. She is so selfless and always puts others before herself. I just began watching her one day and realized that I wanted to be just like her. I began to volunteer in her classroom the last period of the day because I want to be an elementary school teacher as well. I decided why not learn form the best. Throughout the year, I learned so much from her. She taught me that students can learn and have fun while they
While I was younger, I never was able to build a relationship with Samp until I become serious about golf and started to ask more questions and take her advice to be successful. I was also given the chance to work under Kristen Samp for a year and a half and quickly learned about the impact she made to influence the excellent reputation and community-like atmosphere at Lawrence Country Club. Shortly after talking to and working for Samp, I began to take lessons from her to help develop skills and reach my maximum potential. After I built a relationship with her, I realized her knowledge and experience in golf made her a perfect candidate for this project. I conducted my interview over the phone with Samp for around 45 minutes to learn more about her career and how she become so successful. I reached to Samp through text messages and she gladly accepted to help me and then we mutually decided a date and time. Due to her extensive experience in the golf industry, I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to learn more about two of my greatest passions, golf and a potential career in the sports
I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Yvonne Dill who attended UIC (University in Chicago) at the age of 16, which she is extremely proud to say. “I loved it because it was close to my home, and although I was close, I was still able to be independent and live on my own. I did graduate from that school in 4 years.” I am also close to home and I enjoy my independence as well. The only difference between she and I is the fact that I did not attend college at age 16. During her first few weeks as a freshman she admits, “I was not nervous, and I felt as if I was where I belonged. I adjusted very easily, and quickly. Three of my cousins (all two years older than me, two of which are twins) also attended the school, which made the transition very
I interviewed Gaia Yi on November 9, 2015 after I scheduled an interview with her. She is currently a sophomore, majoring in Economics and Political Science at UCLA. Gaia is from Irvine. She pledged Alpha Phi Omega last Spring, Alpha Nu term. Her Big is Thu Mai. They are part of the Phi family. Gaia is really busy this quarter since she is also joining a women philanthropy organization on campus. She is currently a Residential Assistant in Rieber Hall on the fifth floor. Gaia is also in my economics 2 class along with Tina Ngo and Szu Chen Lee. She recommended me not to take economics 11 next quarter since the professor has a bad reputation. We decided to take economics 41 together next quarter instead. We can suffer together. We attended
Hola Diana, yes it was good to see them even though it was only one night. We don't have many houses built on stilts either but with the sea levels rising it is something the government should be thinking about, but they never do think do they, it's always about short term gain from short term brains.
There once was a story told of a girl who was so call it the “Perfect Debater.” She was fierce, confident, knowledgeable, and she understood how to get people to listen. But in life, no one is actually that perfect. Her only downfall was that she was ruthless and she defended her territory at all cost, her opponent never got to mumble a single word. As I learned in the leadership program, we call this person “The Competing One.” These are the individuals who only pursue their own concerns at their opponent expense, using whatever power seemed appropriate. Well then there’s me, I fall in with the competing ones, the one who is said to be self-absorbed and sometimes ruthless.
I enjoyed a nice conversation with Katie Moynihan on Wednesday afternoon. Though we had crossed paths, we didn’t really know each other, so this conversation was a fun activity to do so.
On March 11, 2016, I waited in my house for Charity to come over so I can get some information about her life. Charity, a college friend of my sister Keturah, attends the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). They have known each other for about a year and a half now. Keturah set up the interview for us which was supposed to begin at 8:00 p.m. It was about 45 minutes past 8:00 and I thought that Charity would never show up. By 9:00, she finally rang the doorbell. I walked at a fast pace toward the door and through the window I saw a brown skinned girl with long wavy black weave. I thought to myself “Wow she must always be fashionably late,” this is not something that I should think about something the third time that I meet them.
Melanie is so bubbly!! He smile is contagious and you can feel her loving aura give you a hug when she enters the room. I met her first when I was at the library and she was teaching a lesson on college essays. Her personality was engaging and her laughter was infectious. In a part of her powerpoint she was describing what she does and how she is a part of an organization called Playing For Others. While she was describing this you could tell how much love and passion she had for this organization. After the class I talked about how I had heard of PFO and how I was deciding if I should apply etc. Melanie really gave me my last push to leap for the application and expand my comfort zone. Now I see her at Playing For Others events and she always
When I went for the interview the girls over there were really friendly and welcoming. A past co-worker of mine from a previous job was working at my current job and she told mw about it. The place that I was the doctor was a mess, awesome doctor but awful as a boss and he had no benefits what so ever. In this new place that I am now they have a 401k plan, insurance, 80 hours of paid vacation after 90 days of employment, aflac and a health savings account. When they offered me the job and told me all those benefits that I did not had before and their salary is more competitve I couldn't say
Day 2 with Natalie went fairly well. She did not want to greet a table at first but she was sociable with them. She did well on her test and only missed two of the wing sauces. The only issue that we had was when I asked her if she wanted to greet one of my tables and she said yes. She was nervous and the greet and order steps were a little rocky, and by rocky I mean a complete avalanche. She came off a robotic and it seemed forced. So she needs to work on her greet and having more confidence with her tables.
I would love to change places with Valkyrie from the Marvel comics. She has many great qualities and powers. I would spend the first few hours of the day to exploring Asguard and riding her winged horse. I would also visit other planets and dimensions. Due to there being more planet and dimensions than there is time in a day, I would avoid the areas where here enemies live and focus on the areas that are experiencing peace.
This Friday, which will be aired from “Nightline,” I interviewed to Morrie Schwartz. As a matter of fact, I really didn’t know who he was. My producer caught the eye when he saw Morrie’s aphorism. So, the producer immediately asked me to go where Morrie is living and this was my first time to meet Morrie Schwartz who inspired my producer.
I really had a wonderful interview with Ms. Yang. Aside from the questions that were provided by my instructor, I asked approximately twenty-five more that I wrote. She answered these questions thoroughly and with extreme honesty. She is very knowledgeable in the field that she is in and displays the confidence in her work that I want to have for myself. She provided me with so much information that I had approximately five pages of notes. I really wanted to emphasize to her that I did not have much experience in the communication field. However, she re-assured me that everything would be just fine, but that I would need to start working on building a portfolio as soon as possible. She gave me a range of advice, stemming from where to apply
Lauren was always a careful person, and Kate’s role model. They were sisters and best friends. They did everything together. They went to the mall together, the movies, and occasionally Kate would go to Lauren’s work if she was bored. They were as close as could be. But that accident changed everything.
