I want to get involved with THON because I like making a difference. I was on a committee last year and it was one of the most life-changing experiences to be a part of THON and knowing that I was changing children’s lives. I love kids and I use to work at a daycare throughout high school, so I know how innocent and adorable and fun loving they are. I would hate see any child lose their childhood to cancer or for any family to lose a member to this disease. I have had many family members with cancer and have lost a lot of people to it and I don’t want anyone else to suffer like they did. Being a part of THON allows me to make a difference and help others when they feel helpless.
I was on the Rules and Regulations Committee last year for THON
Walking away from everything you once knew and starting over is never a picnic. Leaving Iraq, and moving to America has impacted my life more than anything. I was only 4 years old at that time, and the only English I spoke was “excuse me, water please.” My family and I did not know it then, but our lives were going to change; we would become “Americanized”. Learning English was one of the massive changes that occurred, the way I dressed (culture), and even the way I had power to go to school and educate myself.
Finally, and most importantly, is the impact that Thon has on children going through cancer treatment. Really, I could join any club or group to embrace the community and have a bit of fun, but Thon stands alone when it comes to making a real and tangible difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate. I am looking forward to doing great things with brilliant people all in an effort to ease the pain of our most innocent.
I was wandering in the mall recently , aimlessly as some of us do, basically waisting time. In my travels I came across a kiosk that sold various cellphones, chargers, and other accessories. The young man behind the counter asked if I needed any help, I answered as most of us do with a "no, I'm just looking."
I believe that everyone lives life in a different ways. There isn’t a certain way to follow in life. You have to make life fun and live it to the fullest. Whether it be by yourself or with somebody you love. To me I don’t think anyone should be individual their whole life. Everyone should have somebody male/ female that they can be happy with. Life is full of surprises and it throws new things at us every day.
We are all searching for meaning in our lives. Everyone wants to feel like they matter to the world. In my junior year I got the opportunity to find exactly that when I joined our school’s mini-THON club. Mini-THON is an organization dedicated to raising money in order to fight pediatric cancer by funding research, providing emotional support to the children fighting cancer, and giving financial support to their parents. It does this by throwing a ten hour-long event filled with games, dancing, and other activities in order to bring awareness to the cause and raise money. I decided to join because I have always wanted to help other people and find something that I can give to the world that would make it better a better place. I had done things
He knew it was going to be a no excuses to lose to weather and it was going to be a good day for fans to watch football tonight. He had met with Kyle Cannon who was the quarterback for the team and a running back on the team named Dion Gordon;
When it comes to my passion most don’t understand it the way I do. For the past three years my passion has been lacrosse. Since I was a freshman at Sandalwood High School my interests for the sport have grown and my devotion and commitment have reached new limits. Most people don’t understand lacrosse, they just know that it is a sport “with sticks and stuff”, and while I don’t take offense to ignorance; sharing my passion with others is never a burden. Lacrosse is one of the biggest parts of my life as of now and I believe it will continue to be for many years to come, but there’s more to the sport than most people know. Lacrosse has a history behind it older than any other sport in America, as well as the fact that as of now,
Week one has passed by quickly! I think this week was very successful and I can say that I have learned many new things. This week has been an experience for me learning things about the business world. I am not a business major so I was not expecting to take these classes. I was assigned them, but have found them very beneficial. As I read through the first couple of chapters I read things I had heard before. This was a good thing that I could put the information with the terms I had heard previously.

When you first walk into the Hornets Nest the first thing you see is one of the friendly crew member there to swipe your hornet card. Then you smell the freshly stoned cooked pizza and nearby you can see some choices on pasta. I normally don’t the eat pizza. Honestly the pizza is not as good as it smells. I haven’t touch the pasta once because I avoid the pizza so I forget that there’s more than pizza.
I chose to break the norm of either smiling at strangers or giving them a neutral look when you make eye contact. I decided to give every stranger I passed a confused look like they had just spoken to me in another language. I must admit, this made me feel a bit goofy. I was on the fence as to whether or not to do this in the first place but I decided I just had to. The responses I received were quite comical. A few people asked if I was alright, and one person even asked if I had a problem with them.
Most people are all grown up when they finally figure out what they want to do with their life. I was 4. I realized what I wanted to be when I attended my very first Rodeo. Even though it was so long ago I can remember that day like it was yesturday. That day got me on the path to my future.
As soon as I pulled up to the location of the party, I could feel the vibrations of the music being played. I was finally ready to let loose and have a blast for the first time in the past four years. I had spent my entire high school career focusing on my grades, the tests, and all of the essays. With school getting out in a week, I decided to let loose. I was determined to make this party, an extraordinary experience. Deep down I knew this night was going to be unforgettable.
The person I admire is someone who is confident,, and has a very strong character. Even though she might not be a firefighter, a doctor, police officer, teacher or maybe even a superhero, she is a powerful woman. This woman might not look like much but to me she is everything and that person is my really good friend who I consider a sister, Destiny Figueroa. I believe even though that me and Destiny might have our ups and downs it will never change how much I love and care for her.
