For my first item in my Me Box i chose my dog, harley’s, collar. This collar represents my love for animals. I begged for a puppy for years, and just last september I adopted her. We have four dogs, but she is the first dog that’s actually mine. My love for animals goes beyond dogs, We have all different types of animals, like: horses, cats, ferrets, hamsters, fish, frogs, birds, chickens, and even raccoons. Being around animals always lightens my mood and relaxes me. Another knick knack i put in my box is my keychain Mr. Scott made me. This keychain resembles my uncle Pat. The front of it is the Denver Broncos logo, which was his favorite team, and on the back is an engraved a quote “ One letters of hope is worth more than a thousand thoughts
This past year, I have been apart of Naperville Central’s brand new Special Spaces club. When my friend approached me and asked me to join, I agreed even though I had no clue what I was involving myself in. In retrospective, I can honestly say that becoming a part of Special Spaces has been one of the most meaningful, fun, and fulfilling experiences I have had in high school.
Personal Identity is something I have never sat down and specifically thought about. Lucky for me, I have seldom had an instance where I was disadvantaged because of my identity. I assume that everyone has parts of themselves that they dislike-it is human nature, but we are who we are and I believe that everyone needs to be proud of that. The person I identify with is diverse from anyone else but that what makes humans so incredible. The person I classify with is someone who I am satisfied with in both my personal and professional self.
When it comes to what separates me from other teenagers, there would be quite a bit to tell. I would say a major difference which separates me from my peers is my love for barbershop harmony music. I do not have a quartet of my own; however, I love to sing barbershop tags with other friends at church. I set myself apart from the world because of my beliefs: as a New Testament christian, I believe the bible gives us all instruction concerning spiritual matters.
In this project, I collected and shot twenty of my personal objects, some of them carries my past, some of them are related to my life.
Many times when people speak about what shaped who they are and how they view the world, it goes back to a work that they loved as a child, or a piece of literature that taught them how to think, or a poem that challenged them to feel more deeply. The pieces of art and works of fiction that surround us, impact our thinking and the ways in which we live our lives. Personally, my parents were continually forcing books upon me to read and my father loved taking us as a family to various museums so that we could learn and appreciate other cultures and the importance of art in society. These experiences, though they felt like a drag or a downer on our vacation, eventually taught me how important it is to learn something
When talking in meetings I am very aware that quite frequently I talked out what I am thinking, and sometimes it’s hard for my team or staff to follow. I would like to continue to work on composing my thoughts and ideas in my mind before speaking them a lot so that my team members have a better idea of what I am trying to
Everyone has their own personal bubble, which has formed over years of experiences, likes/dislikes, and opportunities. I, myself, have a comfort zone that makes it so I like familiarity. One of our National Honor Society projects popped my bubble though. We were tasked with going and helping the Fort Morgan Golden Stars wrap Christmas presents for those unable to provide their kids with any. The location was next to the beef plant in town and can be a kind of sketchy area. The entire time I was driving over there I was imagining more of a Santa’s workshop with lots of people quickly wrapping assembly line style. When I drove past it the first time I almost turned around and went home, but I knew it was a good cause. I went through the
Growing up I thought the things that define my life would be way different by the time I turned twenty but they've stayed same. The things that define me most are music, books and my clothing. I don't plan on changing them any time soon.
A majority of people I have spoken to despise running; the activity inducing a great deal of pain and wasting time are common reasons I hear. For me however, running has always been a part of my identity and it shaped me as the person I am today. Whether it comes to intense races or exciting games of tag, I feel a part of me glistens with joy whenever I put on my running shoes and get my feet moving. My interest from running goes all the way back from elementary school.
I was once told that in order to figure out how to become who you're supposed
Imagine always having to move every other year. For some people that are outgoing, it would be fun people they get to meet a lot of new people. For people like me, the quiet ones, it's a different story. I’m more of a quiet person and I feel that it's because I've never really talked to people because I’ve moved so much.
I’m Ali Kent. My friends like to think of me as a sweet and smart young woman who is passionate and accepts people with her heart not her eyes. I’m a little bit of everything, like a perfect recipe. A determined, headstrong and compassionate girl who has just met the seemingly perfect guy.
Over the last four years of high school I have done a lot of searching, within myself, the people around me, and how to make all I do have more purpose. The first step was to find myself. I had to discover the exact beliefs I had, how I viewed having fun, and I promised myself to stay true to what I found. After coming to the conclusion of how I wanted to spend the rest of my years at SHS I surrounded myself with people who had the same intent as I. Early on as a freshman I signed a pledge agreeing to live a drug and alcohol free life while attending Streator High, in which I have successfully done. After understanding I can enjoy myself attending school dances, or traveling to away sporting events while being 100% substance free, I pushed
Thanks to your support, the year 2017 has been one of growth and innovation for the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival. We continue our expansion and fulfillment of our mission to bring the joy and beauty of mathematics to as many students as we can, through non-competitive extra-curricular mathematics activities.
Time, the never-ending force that continues to work throughout history. Some student’s feel that time doesn’t move fast enough, although when the dreaded Finals come around, many students find that there isn’t enough time for effective studying. My time was running out as dawn quickly approached. I was sitting on my bed with my laptop as my mother opened the door to my room.
