Throughout my educational experience I noticed the discrepancies with regard to the advantages my peers possessed. In high school as I began exploring what career I wished to pursue, I experienced inferiority as my classmates who’ve taken the ACT three times, visited college campuses, and have had resumes ready since the 6th grade unintentionally mocked my lack of college-readiness. However, my ignorance wasn’t intentional, my parents never reached a high school education in Mexico, they couldn’t pass down SAT tips or acquire internship opportunities for me. I realized it's vital to pick up the pace to avoid being left in the dust akin to countless others in my situation. Henceforth, this statement resonates with my experience, I interpreted
I am applying for the opportunity to be places in the student affairs and college counseling progam because I have always had an aspiration to help students obtain their educational goal. I am a first generation college student in my entire family and I am a vivid imagine of all the obstacles I had to overcome to obtain my education. For example, some of the obstacles are that I had to work while being a full time student at Fresno State, numerous people doubt and criticize my education and myself for wanting to success, and I had to commute to school which is about 45 minutes away. During these 4 years I has to commute because I am also a caregiver for my two younger brothers. For this reason, I made the decision to apply to the master program
The number of college students has been trending upwards in the past decade. However, despite the increase in access to college education, different researchers show that the American college students may not be learning as expected (Stoesz, 2013). Learning experience varies among college students. It is not surprising that people with same academic credentials – the same list of course with same grades- have a different learning experience. This essay will explore my experience in college, mainly, what I learned in college.
My personal goals are that I want to be sure what I want to be so I don’t have to do more school then I really need. I have been planning my future for a while now I’m ready to start my future and doing what I like to do is help others that need the help. I don’t need anything else then to see people happy and healthy. I also remember helping my grandma when she got sick I also made sure she did some of her exercises the doctor instructed once a week. Therefore, my one goal is to finish this last year in high school with the highest grades I can get so I can be ready for the next step of my future. I’m strong in everything that I was I am and I am grateful that I’m healthy and doing well and I don’t just focus on myself and sometimes I worry
I was surprised how many of my classes taught me these concepts; I knew those classes were setting out to teach me not only the material specific to that class, but also valuable skills that can be used in a variety of situations, but it was still surprising. While I was going through my list of classes I realized that even though some of them are unnecessary for my degree I don’t regret taking them as I learned much more than I thought. I found that most of my classes built upon the skills I had learned in previous classes, even when those classes had nothing to do with one another. I learned part of a skill in one class and the rest in a completely unrelated class later.
A few weeks ago before first semester ended I needed to do finals so that my grade could go up or retake tests so that we are passing our classes. During the last week of first semester I was really stressed out because I didn’t finish a presentation that needed to be presented that week.
taking notes. Then once I have covered the material for the week I take the practice quizzes online multiple times. I also make flash cards on Quizlet out of the weekly material so I can quiz and drill myself on the material. When exams approach, I reread the materials from the slides and lectures and use the online flashcards I created to study for 3-7 days depending on the subject.
Eight years ago, I was sitting in front of a computer in tiny cubicle running my fingers across numbers and straining my eyes across stacks of paper checking to make sure every graphic, commercial, and TV rating aired in its rightful spot. While I took being a Log Specialist seriously and did my best to execute what was asked, I was lost internally. I knew that I was meant to do more. That’s when I made the decision to pursue a career in education. I was unsure about being a teacher in the beginning. After I finished getting my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Mercer University, I remembered what it felt like to enter the classroom for the first time. I was scared and nervous, but I was determined to succeed.
There are many small things that you learn in a classroom that you do not think will help you in any way. However, things that you first learned in the classroom will be useful when you are in conversations or you are arguing a certain point. An example is the debate activity we did in class which many people took lightly and they really did not appreciate. I will be addressing 3 things I have learned this year and how they are useful when it comes to the real world and the classroom.
What’s your goal? This was one of the questions a friend asked when I told him I was going to begin seminary in the fall. “To be a pastor” isn’t an answer this guy would let me get away with, I needed to really think about my answer. The Christian missionary Andrew van der Bijl once said, “God does not choose people because of their ability, but because of their availability.” and in My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers wrote, “Whether I hear God’s call or not depends on the condition of my ears, and exactly what I hear depends upon my spiritual attitude.” These quotes point to the fact that God has a designed plan for me and I must be prepared for whenever and qualified for whatever when He calls. This truth provides the basis for
My 3 Goals i want to achieve: My first goal would be to improve on my overall maturity. My lack of maturity has let me down multiple times in the past, however, I do believe that I am on top of this issue. It will still be good to improve it. My second goal would be to work on player relations. To elaborate, I am well aware that not all players like me. That's fine, I won't at all let this get in my way of applying, but I would love to resolve a few issues with players. My third and final goal would be to help HcZone expand and reach its full potential! I don't believe that I need to elaborate on this as it's fairly self-explanatory. On another note, I would also like to stay clear of drama. Not starting drama comes under this additional goal.
From the time a person grows up, they are constantly being asked, “What do you want to be when you’re older?” or “Do you have any goals or aspirations?”. Of course, at a young age, a child could say, “An astronaut with purple hair,” and it is entirely acceptable. As time moves on questions, become more prevalent, and the innovative child response will not cut it. Throughout adolescence, teenagers are pressured into having a solid game plan for their goals; which is not always the best way to go. In high school, I was able to achieve a self-rewarding goal that never once crossed my mind. Often times it is not the aspirations we are forced to make, but the unexpected ones that have the most impact on our lives.
Hello Victoria, I also am seeking a career in the education field. I've had people putting me down for wanting to go into teaching as well. But i don't listen to it, I believe if you're going to have a career it should be doing something you love. Also i think being an educator would be one of the best most rewarding thing. It's great to see how much passion and love you have for it. I haven't met many people who want to go into teaching so it's nice to see that i'm not the only one. I also believe music is so so important and vital in our school systems. I was once a very shy girl in high school and then i found singing and joined chorus. After that I just started opening up and being more confident. I think children and teenagers need art
The first day was pretty exciting. My number one goal was to talk to one of the residents which was met while doing the patient history.we toured the unit around. We looked at the patient's binder. My favorite part of the day was meeting T.C. The things that she has done in her life was inspirational. The way she lived her life is just amazing to be true. Lastly, I got to feed father even though I had to lie about being a catholic. I believe they think I did well at least T.C told me I was good.
For a long time I’ve watched and admired successful women such as Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama work to achieve their goals. That has inspired me to set my own goals and check them off upon completion. I started out in the third grade aiming for honor roll and I made it. In the 7th grade once I realized how powerful I was and that I could do anything my list of goals grew bigger and bigger. I wanted to make the track team and I did it, I wanted to make the National Junior Honor Society and because of hard work and dedication I did it. I was empowered and I was moving through my list of short term goals and nothing was stopping me. Now I’m in high school and my goals in life became more relative to where I wanted to be in the future.
