I am a first generation student and spring semester is my second semester in college. I got no help in the beginning of fall semester in the process of class selection. I got in math class late and was unable to catch up to class that lead me to drop the class. But this semester, I got all the opportunity to get involve and to pursue my dream. I am working hard as possible to do well on every class and outside of the class. I am also involve in community, representing community throughout state being a youth leader and doing volunteer in my free time. This summer I am planning to make a transformative summer taking a class from world most prestigious university. I hope the class I take this summer will help me get ready to pursue my goal of
I believe you can achieve anything you want in life with hard work, dedication, and passion. There are many experiences I have gone through that have helped shaped who I am today. I may not have control over certain situations, but I have a choice on how it affects me.
The career goals I am preparing for include finishing my BSN, then continuing to receive my MSN, receiving my RN-C and becoming a clinical instructor for a community college. I plan to start taking classes for my MSN degree as soon as I finish my BSN because you must have a Master’s degree to become a clinical instructor. Becoming a clinical instructor has been a dream of mine since I started nursing school in 2009. When students come to the NICU for their observation day, I make sure to teach them everything I know about neonates because they only get one afternoon in the NICU and I want them to leave loving the specialty as much as I do. I want to teach clinical at a community college versus a four year college so I can encourage the nursing students to continue on for their BSN immediately upon completion of their Associate’s degree because “generally,
My mission statement is to guide those around me to the love and acceptance of one another in a loving, caring, and educational way throughout the world. I will put my strengths to use by finding opportunities to teach children creatively and in a loving way. I will strive to be the best of myself with finishing my early childhood education degree, teaching love to children, and showing forgiveness to all.
As I read chapter one from Your College Experience: Strategies for Success, I agreed with their reasoning based on my experience. College is important, not just to me but to the nation. It is a system that enables people, including myself a first generation low income student to work hard to achieve the American Dream. My overall goal is to graduate and be qualified for a career to support my family to do this I need to plan smart goals and overcome challenges.
Starting high school can be a little scary, especially when you have no guidance from siblings, like me, being the first one from my family to have an education. But that did not stop me from succeeding, I?ve always been confident and determined. I?m an enthusiastic when it comes to trying new things. Who would have thought I was going to be a good athlete plus a book geek, when in my past years I was just a regular kid. I was pretty excited about joining a club that had a connection with high school, that way I didn?t have to start from zero, I always want to be a step ahead. Fortunately, in summer, a high school coach was recruiting freshmen for running either cross country or track, they both involve running, so I considered it like the same sport with different timing. And this is when it all started. Running
I think that the most important aspect that Peters stresses is image building. My end state goal is to become a College Professor. So surrounding myself around like minded people as well as building a relationship with the heads of the department would aid in building a reputation that can be called upon come the time I can make the transition toward my end state goal. As we see in the news almost on a daily basis gossip in politics has profoundly negative effects. Any thing that could be construed in a negative manner will look poorly upon you. Best practice is to stick to the known facts and stay professional. Attitude is everything and maintaining a "cheerful disposition" works two fold as one setting yourself up to be more positive and
2017 Women in Leadership Conference has opened my eyes and my heart to a wonderful world of opportunities. These successful and inspirational speakers; Dr. Wendy Murphy and Bentina Terry, along with the list of phenomenal of panelist really stood out with ear piercing words like be myself and be confident in what I know. Having mentors would be one key to my success that I learned and can begin today. Mentors provide support, motivation, understanding, and guidance. The one last thing to drive it home was Bentina Terry outstanding and unforgettable lecture. I will never forget her words of Boundless instead, of fearless, who’s going to stop me, and never jump if I don’t have wings. The needed learning tools given in this
Have you ever felt robbed of a childhood? At the age of six, I was placed into the DYFS system. I moved from house to house, not really having the chance to grow up like normal children. I didn’t get to experience things such as ; asking my older sister advice on boys, learning how to cook grandma’s favorite recipe, or going on family vacation to Disney world . I worked hard to get where I am right now. My experiences have made me of who I am today , my story will tell you my background, where I came from and why my application is incomplete without it.
In ten years I see myself either in college getting ready to get a job to make my mom proud and struggling a little bit in some of the assignments. I would live either in a duplex or just in a little apartment for starters and possibly have a dog. The work I would be doing would be lots of paperwork for patients or customers, and my career would be working for Aura possibly with a second job working at a grocery store, not promising that. This goal is important to me because I would have to pay for groceries and rent and pay my bills so i can actually have a roof over my head and be able to eat all the meals that are necessary. This goal also helps me get a better understanding of what people are going through and lets me interact with others. This provides happiness to others and getting a better understanding of what people have to go through everyday of their lives. School has a counselor that can help you with finding the right career and helps you achieve your goals. School also has the teachers which
My long-term goals start by acquiring many jobs and having those jobs help me gain new skills and experience. I would like to grow as an individual in the next few years. My goal is to finally ride in an airplane. I would like to explore new areas and learn about different cultures. I see myself studying abroad and graduating from UC Merced. Have made so many friends and gained so much learning. My goal is to buy an expensive vehicle, one that is comfortable and saves gas. I would really like to own my own house and live in a good neighborhood with a steady income job. I would like to have a job that uses my skills and experience to help improve my working place. All these goals are between three to ten years to complete.
Fortunately for me my personal, professional, and education goals is one in the same. My goal is to one day preach and teach the word of God. I must first equip myself with the skills necessary to bring forth God’s word. I understand being able to be an effective communicator and a critical thinker are some skills that I will need in order to be successful in my ministry. Being a responsible leader is very important in today’s society. I want to not only a have church of my own, but go aside the four walls so I can be a global citizen with the gifts God has gave me spreading Christianity through the world.
One aspect about myself, that goes unnoticed in my life is my determination. Determination has been a trait of mine for the majority of my life. Both my mother and father are very determined people. Having them as my role models growing up, I always wanted to one day be like them. I personally believe this is where my determination aspect came from. I don’t think that I was born with it, but rather developed it because of the people I was surrounded by in my life.
An important part of every humans life is having something they believe in. Having something to care about is essential for people to reach their full potential in life. People need a special person in their life, or a great job that sparks passion in them to bring them happiness. There are many of these types of passions in my life but to better understand who I am, there isn't just one, there are three people who have shaped the young adult I am today. My two little sisters and my little brother. However they aren't exactly normal siblings, they were given to us by the City of Cincinnati for temporary care, while their mothers tried to recover from heroin addiction and battled in court to explain why their child was hospitalized because of a lack of food.
I would say distraction was one of the challenges I had to overcome to get where I am today. My friends, relationships, staying up late, watching television or doing something else rather than doing my work, would always back track me even if I thought “I’ll be okay” and just catch back up; it’s not that easy. I use to focus so much on other people in my life, I’d forget about myself and what’s best for me. When I was in the middle school, I would get so distracted by my cell phone, my mom would have a restriction on it so that I couldn’t send or receive text within school hours. Back then I didn’t understand, but now I see where it could hurt my grades. One of my biggest distractions was how I could get so emotionally caught up in other things
