One personal value that I hold very close to my heart is productivity. Having a mindset of doing things keeps me moving and doing and creating. Even if I am sitting on the couch with my eyes closed, my mind is racing with thoughts and ideas. This value has kept me moving during times that I have wanted to give up. Productivity helps me write stories and try out new ideas. The second personal value that is important to me is helpfulness. As humans it is really easy to forget about the needs of other humans. If we are thinking about the needs of our fellow humans it becomes easier to find ways to be helpful. These ways to help each other out can be as simple as putting away the dishes without being asked to doing large amounts of community service.
If I saw a new student wandering the halls at Hughes I would go up to them and introduce myself. If they were lost I would walk them to their next class and get to know them along the way. I would ask them about their schedule. If we had any of the same classes or the same lunch periods I would check in with them during those times and see how they were doing.
If one of my friends was in conflict with another student, the first thing I would do is talk to both of them separately to understand both sides of the story. Then I would

I collected unneeded eyeglasses and sent them to the Northern Virginia Lions Club. The Lions Club takes them to third world countries and distribute them to those in need. For this I had to create awareness about my glasses drive by posting flyers around the school and putting an announcement on the weekly Hughes email and on the daily news. In the end I collected 58 pairs of glasses which will give 58 people in need sight that can help them go to school or get a job. This project meant a lot to me because I have been wearing glasses for all but two years of my being and have made a huge impact on my
When I was in third grade my teacher assigned us to write a book titled “All About Me” and just about every word was spelled incorrectly. I remember my teacher reading it and asking what word I was trying to spell out and I got upset. I felt like I could not spell anything I was trying to write, put things into the right words, or into the correct order. However, in seventh grade my writing changed when my English teacher assigned us a paper to write about a book the class was assigned to read. My writing had improved, but still had its problems. My English teacher always told me that there is no such thing as a perfect paper. After he read my rough draft, he handed it back to me and there were red marks all over it, so I went home and fixed
I left everything behind and refused to go back. I left the one thing I wanted the most, but found the one thing I needed, freedom. My dark cloud of regret was behind me as I entered my salvation, Amsterdam. I entered the gates of Amsterdam and saw a multitude of smiling faces and entered the light. I had no recollection of how I got there, but I knew he wasn’t here I could feel it. I was finally free and I walked through the golden gates knowing I could start over.
I grew up in rural Indiana with three brothers. Our family was a little different than most because all of us children had been adopted. The oldest of us, Andy, was two years older and had cystic fibrosis which meant he probably wouldn’t live to be 30 or more. The remaining three of us were biologically brothers. Triplets in fact. Our parents adopted all three of us together for some brave reason. I used to joke that there was a buy one get two free sale at the adoption agency and that I was the only one they actually wanted. It was never hidden from us that we were adopted, but it always left me feeling that I didn’t quite belong in certain family functions. I wanted to feel like I belonged in my environment. The military
My real age test placed me at 38.4 years old, just .9 under my actual age of 39. Apparently, I am doing what is necessary to maintain my age. The survey pointed out a number of things I am doing well, most notably are, my cholesterol level, which is quite low, my solid sleep schedule, which enables me to get 7 hours or more a night, having a healthy amount of sex, a solid social life with friends and family, life perspectives that reduce stress, and experiencing few financial difficulties all help me stay younger. Additionally, eating nuts, having breakfast regularly, minimizing red meat, and maximizing frequency of eating fish all contribute to reducing my “RealAge”. However, there are a number of things I can do to decrease my RealAge.
Starting high school can be a little scary, especially when you have no guidance from siblings, like me, being the first one from my family to have an education. But that did not stop me from succeeding, I?ve always been confident and determined. I?m an enthusiastic when it comes to trying new things. Who would have thought I was going to be a good athlete plus a book geek, when in my past years I was just a regular kid. I was pretty excited about joining a club that had a connection with high school, that way I didn?t have to start from zero, I always want to be a step ahead. Fortunately, in summer, a high school coach was recruiting freshmen for running either cross country or track, they both involve running, so I considered it like the same sport with different timing. And this is when it all started. Running

Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.
I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.
Everyone on earth is defined by their core beliefs. It’s what makes us all individuals, what separates us from the others. It wasn’t until I was talking with my friend Sean in 8th grade that I started to realize that one of my core beliefs, something I was taught growing up, may not be my own belief.

People in society stand somewhere with different lives. Some people are satisfied, others not so much. What do we call a world where we are in an environment we enjoy, with people we love, and with harmony? That is called Quality World. It seems a bit too good to be true but it can be done, but it is completely up to the choices made. For example, if I want to be a teacher I would have to save up for college, enroll in college, finish my degree, and find a job. It seems quite simple, but if I decide that college is getting too stressful and drop my classes, then I am now further away from my quality world. In each quality world you need, “love/belonging, power, freedom, and fun,” (17).
Just so you know, this is the Big Apple and I rule this town. New York City is filled with tall buildings, great culture, and historical sites. No other city has so much beauty that it takes your breath away; yet, there is a real danger that lurks on the streets. I should know because I am Detective Michael Morgan a United States Super Spy in charge of capturing dastardly villains who are set on destroying our world. Armed with mind-altering powers, Alex Higgins is on the top of the FBI’s list of the ten most wanted men in America. This thug is one of the greatest danger to our world and must be captured and jailed in the vault of death. There is no place safe for him to hide from the law and rumor has it, he is in my town. You break the law here in New York City, you pay the ultimate price: freedom.
In an approach to illuminate the values that will guide my viewpoint on moral and ethical leadership, the following text is my personal code of ethics. This document focuses on the beliefs that define who I truly am. Simon, Howe, & Kirschenbaum (1995) state, “Values are those aspects of our lives that are so important and pervasive that they include feelings, thought, and behavior” (pp. 10). Through deep reflection, which challenged me to consider alternatives and allowed me to compare what I believe and how I would act, I have created the following declarations to myself:
As I hold her hand, I think about Patsy and two of her cousins. They all have breast cancer, and they all picked crops in the central Valley of California when DDT was permissible. Rubbing her knuckles as gently as I can, I think of her slow death.
Everyone has an identity, and it is our identity which defines who we are and our place in society. Our identities help other people to draw conclusions about who we are, as well as, spotlight values and beliefs. Our identities have the power to positively or negatively affect how we live our lives, as well as, have the power to affect how we interact socially. Identities can be shaped and molded by the communities in which we live, the schools we attend, churches where we worship, the sports in which we participate, our race, gender, and physical features. Many of my friends, family, and acquaintances, describe my identity as being strongly influenced by my disability, my family values, and my fiercely independent nature. Prior to writing
