My leadership skills have greatly increased throughout my high school years. I started off as the history fair project group leader to the Development Director and speaker of my Philanthropic Board in Education class. I used to be the type of person who was shy and stage fright but I learned to face those fears and became the outgoing person I am today. My purpose was to be in charge of and interface with my classmates to create a fundraiser for a non-profit organization in our community. I had to communicate with each individual in order to bring the plan together, which wasn’t a piece of cake since not everyone interacts in the same manner. Although it was only a group of twenty-one students, I still faced challenges that I eventually conquered.

I have been the president of my school’s Junior Civitian club for 2 years now and I was color guard caption for two years also. I have learned how to become a leader. I also went to Girl State where I learned how to become a better leader. Becoming a leader is challenging, especially in high school, when you want to do what everyone else is doing. I have learned that being a leader you should be fair and treat people as if they are your peers and not lower than you are. As a leader I am the first person their and the last person to leave. I also have made myself available to the people in Junior Civitan and the people on the color guard team. I also have an ambitious attitude, as should ever leader. In order to do so I needed to learn how to be an effective leader. Thus, I ran for National Honor Society President and won the election. This has increased my people skills; I can communicate with officials easier because I am more confident and assertive. This increased my ability to be a problem solver and taught me how compromise. It informed me that other people will have opinions that differ from mine. However, it’s important to listen to them because those different opinions could be better than mine. Other than being National Honor Society President I have had other leadership positions such as creating the year round freshman mentoring program at my school. Taking my idea to an actual successful organization has taught me patience and discipline. This also forced me to plan out every single detail, handle public questions and concerns, and persuade my officials that my plan was worth funding. I created contracts, rules, and guidelines for this mentoring program. Everything I have done has improved my abilities and skills. Every organization I joined, every class I have taken, and every choice I have made has been to achieve my end
Throughout my high school years, I gave myself many opportunities and challenges to demonstrate my worth as a leader. Of all these positions, the one I take pride in the most would be taking the lead role of directing a non-profit ACT organization. Together with my classmate, we had founded the organization to which I took charge of after he left to attend college. During my role as president of the ACT organization, my responsibilities included tutoring, finding teachers, organizing sign ups, as well as procuring space to hold classes.
Through my leadership I have convinced many people to believe in themselves to try something new. One of my favorite moments from high school was when I convinced a freshman FFA member to try public speaking.
Firstly, in my Academic Career, I have held a multitude of leadership roles. My sophomore year , I was a class representative for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, commonly known as FCCLA. It was my duty to alert members and keep them up to date regarding meetings and activities. As a representative of FCCLA, I learned how to work as a unit leader and a team member.That same school year, I ran for the district office of secretary for FCCLA. The nomination and election process, gave me the opportunity to grow and nurture my leadership abilities. It was eminently challenging; but I learned the importance of discipline and hard work. A leadership experience in what I positively influence others and helped resolve disputes was Link Crew. Link Crew is a program where we help incoming freshmen to high school and show them around school and help them out on anything they need like homework. When I was a link crew leader I helped many kids who had low grades. While I was in this program I noticed that many kids had low grades and didn't turn in work or even their homework I did my best and talked to them about how they will struggle so much to get there credits later on some kids listen and did all their work where they at least passed their classes with a D or C. I had people who I got to meet during this I communicated with many people who joined this program and helped many kids. Students who come to high school think it will be very easy like in middle school but it will get harder each year. Many times I was helping the students I feel like It influenced them to work harder and be better in school and help each other in some ways. Link Crew was such a good program that it was where others students helped other students. I showed many leadership experience by joining this program.
Since childhood, I had a chance to develop my leadership and organizational skills through sports and had my school team win many competitions. My school is one of the places where my leadership qualities are valued as I often become a head of many activities, such as staging plays, organizing shows and school trips with my teachers. Being a leader gives me the opportunity to work in a team and consider my peers’ ideas to make our plans creative and enjoyable for everyone. My personal traits help me to gain trust and respect of my peers as they believe me to be a positive, open-minded and reliable person. Leadership is a difficult quality to obtain as a teenager. It takes many years to build up the courage to pull away from the crowd and walk as one person, not just part of the group. However, I am able to work as part of a team. As a senior at the Little Falls Community High School, I have strived to be my own person instead of being another person in the crowd.

One of the best demonstrations of me using my leadership skills in order to solve a problem was during the final month of my senior year in high school. At Carrollton High School the seniors are required to participate in a volunteer activity to help reach out to the others in our community, we call this Seniors-to-Seniors (S2S). Initially, I was selected to be on the student committee for S2S, I was then nominated to be a group leader meaning I would be in charge of a group of peers making sure that whatever tasks that were assigned to us would be accomplished. After a few weeks of planning it was brought to the student committee's that someone would have to be in charge o a sight that would need to have a garage competently torn down and
I am a born leader. Even when I am not looking for leadership opportunities they always seem to fall into my lap. My life has been one that is based on service to others, so I regularly volunteer for committees and extend myself to help others. It is important to me to be the best teacher I can, I regularly attend professional development sessions and implement my new learning in the classroom. However, upon starting the Teacher Leadership Master’s program at Lamar University, I was just beginning my career as a teacher leader. I had not had many opportunities to show leadership outside of my grade-level team. During team planning meetings, I normally directed the discussions. My coworkers looked to me for guidance and interpretation of the curriculum. I regularly made suggestions about teaching strategies. Additionally, I was a member of various campus committees including the Campus Performance Objective Committee (CPOC) where worked together with campus administrators and community partners to develop the Campus Improvement Plan. However, I did not view these tasks as leadership opportunities.
My personal experiences of leadership started when I was younger, roughly 7 years old, I was elected the captain of my travel soccer team. At the time I didn’t think much of it, nor did I have any extra duties that I was explicitly told that I needed to perform. Later throughout the season, I started to notice my teammates mimicking my styles and techniques and I highly enjoyed this feeling of being looked up to. I didn 't realize until years after that the recognition and pride I felt was leadership. This privilege of being captain was the first time I had realized that people weren 't necessarily following my actions because I was extraordinarily skilled, but because I provided this role model status with my confidence and encouragement. I knew after graduating from GDLP, I learned the skills to become a good leader. I met a great speaker who was really inspirational and his speech really helped me create a new mindset in my head. I have experienced being a leader through playing on the Bryan High girls soccer team as a team captain, being a part of groups for class presentations, and being a youth leader in my church. This is my predominant strength I have been building on more and more each day.
