My son is in the 10th grade at South Kingstown High School. He is being singled out and bullied by his gym teacher. The teacher failed hm in PE because my son refused to change into shorts over 22 times. The PE teacher neglected to familiarize himself regarding my son’s disabilities, which include, severe sensory issues and extreme poor body image due to him being very thin. My son asked to be able to wear his everyday ‘joggers’ which he is comfortable in. The PE teacher denied this request, insisted he change into shorts and then failed him. On April 08, 2016, I arrived to my designated school, Cypress Point Elementary School. Upon my arrival to Cypress Point Elementary School, I went to the main office of the school to see the assistant principal, Mrs. Dewitt. She could not make it to school on time, due to her having car troubles. The secretary told me she would notify her that I arrived and to set me. As I waited for Mrs. Dewitt, I noticed quite a few students having to call home due to violating the school dress code. Mainly it was more girls violating the dress code than boys. I am assuming from what I saw, the children only wore clothes that they saw the adults wore, or whatever their parents picked out for them. During this time, I noticed a little Asian or Hispanic boy being brought to school but he was supposed to be at home due to suspension. The secretary asked him “Why are you at school?” This young man told the secretary that his mother brought him to school. The secretary informed him that he needs to call his mother so that she
Jamie Nabozny was a victim of bullying all throughout middle and high school. He was physically and verbally abused on many occasions due to his sexual orientation/identifying as gay. Jamie felt trapped and hopeless after being relentlessly bullied day after day. During one of these incidents, students repeatedly kicked Jamie in the library and by doing so (transition), left him aggrieved, bruised and bleeding (sensory details) with little to no self-esteem. When he was found, he had several broken bones which required surgery to repair. Due to this incident and countless others, Nabozny’s parents decided to address the school board regarding the issue. James is a second grade African-American student who attends school in an urban community he struggles with keeping his schoolwork and homework organized. His teacher reports he has problems listening to instructions in class and constantly interrupts classroom lessons. His parents and his teacher both reports he has behavior problems and has problems playing with children in his age group. His mother at first believed his behavior was typical for a boy, however she has expressed concerned with his behaviors because constantly fidgets and moves about. His mother is also concerned with his social skills because he has only two friends and she states when in public with her so, he lacks appropriate social skills, he runs about and climbs on objects such as handrails all the time. According to school records his teacher last year referred him several times to the school counselor for failure to remain in his seat and disturbing the learning environment, his 2nd grade teacher is reporting the problems. Due to his inability to stay focused and organized, James grades are fair but could be much better if he completed assignments on time and actively participated in all classroom activities. His teacher has referred James to the school counselor for help with his behavior and academics.
Smithton and Freeburg grade schools have always been rivals when playing junior high sports. Being a Smithton Cougar, I felt a rush of anxiousness before a game against the Freeburg Hornets no matter what sport: softball, basketball, or volleyball. At the time, basketball was my favorite sport; it was my favorite thing to do. Basketball games against Freeburg were one of the most stressful but exciting games I would play during my junior high career. I remember the nerves that never failed to come when tying my shoes and getting ready to play one of the toughest games of the season. My eyes repeatedly peered to the stands which had a crowd of at least four hundred students eagerly waiting as we were warming up. Observing the crowd I noticed the left side of the field was full of students in orange Parkview High School shirts while to my right students were in purple Brookwood High School shirts. It was the Lacrosse Region Championships between Parkview, the school I played for, and, Brookwood High School. Both of our schools were ranked top ten for biggest rivalries, we knew it would be a fight to win the most significant game for us.
“Take your base,” yelled the umpire as Kevin was hit with a pitch on his back. Kevin trotted at a snail's pace down to first base, his face was filled with agony as he grabbed his rib cage. As the game proceeded the pain from the pitch increased but Kevin thought it would eventually go away so he played through it. The game went on and it was close all the way till the end but the Stars pulled out the victory. They are now the 2016 South Carolina 2A High School baseball Champions. The team went crazy, the fans rushed onto the field to celebrate the victory with them. The team and the fans were bumping and brushing up against one another while they were screaming and hollering. Junior year was my first year playing football for Riverbend High School and having played soccer all of my life I decided to be a kicker and punter. By the time that we started playing games I was the backup punter on varsity and would not play until October 10; the homecoming game against Hylton.
It was a typical normal day during sophomore year as I and Kevin were normally having a conversation in the hallways of Neuqua Valley High School during a five minute passing period after class. After walking from the d-wing to the b-wing we just happened to look down at the ground and for a moment we were shocked of what we had found and couldn’t believe our eyes there were three one hundred dollar bills just lying there for the taking so I picked it up and looked at it and we took it for our taking because who wouldn’t like to find three hundred dollars I looked at kevin and said “ We need to get to class, but let’s meet up after school and split the money”. I held on to the money for the time being or at least after class. We met after class
I moved to Crawford my 7th grade year. I attended Crawford Middle School that year. That year went by exceptionally well, but the next year the school closed for 7th and 8th graders, so I had to join Hotchkiss Middle School. I found the Hotchkiss kids very welcoming, and friendly. I instantly became friends with almost all of them. There was just something so welcoming about that school from the friendly teachers who all cared very deeply about each individual student. The happy and friendly attitude wasn’t just at the school, it seemed everyone everywhere was just so happy to be in a beautiful place. Hotchkiss has always been a home for me from that day on because of the welcoming attitudes.
“Fight, fight, fight,” was the chant that so often filled the halls of West Monroe High School. The teachers heard it every time but always hid in the teacher's lounge for fear of being attacked. This was the legacy of WMH, fights, student riots, and terrified teachers.
It just made things easier for the bullies and things worse for me. Louis and I remained in Wildcats East. I was afraid and sometimes I never wanted to go back. I thought the bullying would have stopped. Now that I am not in school anymore, I feel safer, not threatened or bullied by anyone much anymore. Pretty sad I tell you how school life had to turn out the way it did.
When I was a little girl, my grandma would always take me to her school with her and let me sit in on her classes throughout the day. I always begged her to let me go with her because I had loved getting to be there with her and getting to pretend that I too was a part of the class. Alvord Continuation High School was mainly composed of portable classrooms, the buildings were red and white spanish style buildings. The school my grandmother taught at was not a regular high school, this was a place where students over the age of sixteen were able to attend in order to finish school to obtain a high school diploma. The students she taught primarily looked a lot older than sixteen, they were adults trying to graduate to move on with their lives.
When I lived in North Carolina in 2012, I lived in a small school within a tight nit community. From day one I felt as though I didn’t belong, and the ones who made me feel most out of place were my teachers. My teachers told me to leave and go back to Maryland because if i stay I would fail. I couldn’t believe teachers would say that I was so shocked. My teachers rarely attempted to help me with my work as if I was unteachable because I didn’t learn as fast as everyone else.
My school fully expects the best out of our students and uses every opportunity to help us reach our full potential. Teachers at Frank McCourt High School are willing to go out of their way to assist students in achieving goals both inside and outside of classes. Our teachers believe in both academic and personal achievement. My son is in second grade of 明志 elementary school. He took an elective course, tae kwon do, on Saturday afternoon. Last Saturday, he came home and told me that his tae kwon do uniform was torn by his classmate when they were playing a game. The game they played is most popular with elementary male students. One person to be the ghost, others are human beings. The ghost must to catch someone to be the next ghost. So everybody run away in order not to be caught by a ghost. My son’s uniform was torn when the ghost caught him while he was running. When I took a look at his uniform, I was shocked that the location of the tear is not in the suture and worried that the tear can’t be sewn up. Finally, I took the uniform to a tailor’s shop to sew up
