I’ve taken strength-based surveys before and I am always fascinated with what they allow me to learn about myself. Rarely have I’ve taken a strength-based where I didn’t learn something new about myself. There was a point in my life where I had wished I paid more attention to what the information told me; if I had paid attention my school career would’ve gone a completely different route. I eventuality got to the point where I feel like I was on the right path, there was just added bumps in the road that I learned from. This was the first time where I’ve taken a strength-based survey that listed my strengths out the way it does. It was interesting to read each character strength and see how it really relates in my life. As I looked over my 24 strength’s there were definitely some that were ranked spot on and some that really surprised me in a good way. I like the idea that I can take this information and do what I want with it, I don’t have to keep them in the order that they show. When I look at the classification of the …show more content…
I was born with a birth defect called Treacher Collins Syndrome and that has really influence how I see the world. To this date I have had 46 surgeries and I will say my surgeries have taught me to watch the world around me more closely than most of the people I know. As a child I was going through 2 surgeries a year, so I wasn’t the most active child but it really allowed me to watch the people around me interact with each other. To this day I come into a situation and act the exact same way as a child. I watch what is going around me, testing the waters so to speak, before placing myself in that situation. The experiences I have had as a child I wouldn’t change those for anything. I know as I got through this program I’m going to learn more about those experiences and how they have shaped myself and my perspective of the
For instance the strength of being restorative has shown me that I need to work on not trying to control every situation and solve every problem someone has. I need to let them figure out how to solve their problems and just be a sounding board for them when they need it. Being a mom it is hard to not just jump in every time my boys face a difficult situation and just solve it for them. They are young men now and I realize that I need to take a back seat and let them figure out where their life’s road will take them and to be there to listen and help as they ask me. Hard, yes, but a necessity. By doing the assessment and finding out what my top three strengths are I can use them to in the best way possible to achieve the goals I have for my life both personally and professionally. I realize that being deliberative, my belief system and being restorative are my strengths and not weaknesses and I can now capitalize on those strengths at work and
Based on the Clifton Strengths Assessment my top five strengths are strategic, deliberative, learner, maximize and individualization. As an individual, I rarely look into my weakness. I believe that when your too focused on your weakness, you forget about your strengths. Everything the book said is true, and we need to take the time to look at our strengths and make it perfect. It is true that in this world or the school system, we are taught to look at our weakness and correct it so that we can become stronger in our life. This book brings out the truth that I longed to hear for a long time. Invariably, I hear my professor tell their students that for them success in life, they must practice and look at our weakness. This book proves it wrong because for us to become successful, we must stay to our strengths’ path.
Tom Rath’s “Strengths Finder 2.0” on-line assessment identified that my top five strengths are: Strategic, Focus, Futuristic, Significance, and Learner. I see the Strength Finder Assessment as a great opportunity to get to know my personal strengths and it motivates me to work and practice my talents rather than trying to fix my weaknesses. Looking only at my strengths is a new type of skills-building which allows me to stay focus on my talents.
I like to be Faced with any given scenario they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.. I improve things about myself and other people or situations. I am “fascinated by problems that puzzle, confound or frustrate most people”. My other strength is Belief. I have certain core values that are unchanging. My family is my top priority and I am driven by my talents. The strengthsquest helped me understand who really I am. I am always been an independent person who wants to complete every wish my family dreams about. A person who’s only goal in life is to make my life proud. It helped me understand what are my quantiles that my friends and family like about me. It showed me what are my strong point are like my beliefs. It also helped me what my strong leadership skills

When one thinks of the word “strong,” he or she thinks about weightlifting, muscles, and physically demanding tasks. But when I hear the word “strong,” I think of power, or what makes one powerful. What makes me powerful are the qualities that further build me up as a person. The StrengthsFinder Inventory identifies my powerful qualities through my top five themes, which are Significance, Achiever, Responsibility, Focus, and Relator. My Signature Themes present my five most prevailing themes of talent, in the rank order revealed by my responses to the StrengthsFinder Inventory. They are very important because they can ultimately lead to my successes in the near future. Who says being physically fit is what makes me stronger? My strengths
The results of my Strength Quest seem to fall in line with how I perceive myself very well. The 5 signature themes were communication, competition, input, self-assurance, and woo. While there were a few other themes I thought were potentially better fits, these results held up with my personality and actions. One of the emphasized ideas was that these things came naturally to the person, a talent. While this is true of four of these, I had to work on the woo aspect. Originally I was a very shy child and talking to kids was not easy. It was only late on in high school that I began to put myself out there and introduce myself to others. While now it comes naturally it did not before. However, the other four aspects paint a good picture of who
When I mastered the twelve scales on my alto saxophone, it taught me the challenges I could face later in the music business. Learning scales can be a difficult feat, it takes months of practice hours of dedication to learn over thirty different finger placement and techniques for dexterity and agility. Furthermore, over the span of three months, I would stay after school three times a week to further increase my technique in playing scales. I remember one time, after practicing for over 1 hour, being frustrated because I couldn’t play the scales at a steady pace and my lip was hurting.I bailed out that day and accepted defeat. That same night when I arrived home, I felt ashamed and sheepish not because I couldn’t play the scales, but because I gave in and gave up.
My name is Kevin Daniel. My personality is that of an Adventurer because I possess the traits of curiosity, shyness in new situations, calm under pressure and also empathetic.
The personal strengths inventory was very accurate in its’ assessment. My top five strengths are capacity for love (97.5%), forgiveness (95%), spirituality (95%), optimism (91.75%), and enthusiasm (90%). The four strengths that I am most lacking in are humility (45%), judgement (55%), love of learning (60%), and social intelligence (65%).
I was quite surprised by the results I got from the StrengthsQuest survey. Prior taking the survey, I was very skeptical. I thought it was one of those long meaningless surveys where you would take it and that was it. But definitely not this one. I feel that I learned something about myself through this survey. Something that I have never thought of about myself. The results of this survey really helps me identify my areas of strength and areas that I need to work on. Based on the survey, my top five themes are restorative, responsibility, empathy, analytical, and adaptability.
A trait that can be considered an achievement would be my ability to persevere, as a survivor. My sister, Leanne, spent a majority of her life in and out of hospitals due to a genetic anomaly. Even with knowledge of the gravity of the situation, her death came as a great shock to me. She moved back to Canada with my mother, after my parents’ divorce, so my time with her became limited. One month after my son Jacob was born I planned an introductory visit to his aunt Leanne for the first time. However, three days earlier I received the phone call to forever change my world. Eight years later I found myself fighting for my son’s life. Jacob complained of physical ailments, however, doctors deemed me a hysterical mother and dismissed them.
Perhaps my story is different than Gomez’s story, but the feeling of inferiority I experienced was almost the same. However, I didn’t have negative images of myself like Gomez and his group had " It’s clear now that we entered the contest with negative images of ourselves."(Gomez 204) I entered this challenge with a positive image of myself, and I didn’t ever feel a shame or in less rank than anyone. I knew before I started that job that I could face huge challenge. This positive attitude helped me find out a lot about myself, and my ability to deal with insulting situations. I entered that world with receiving offensive sights and remarks, and left it with earning a lot of respect and honor.
The night leading up to the role play, I was studying my theory. I was a bit insecure in the Narrative approach. So, I spent my time watching videos on Narrative therapy, and reading text about the theory. I was a little anxious, because I kept questioning myself and how much I knew about the theory that I was going to use for the role play.
The word strength brings numerous thoughts to mind such as: power, muscle, durable, advantage and potency to name a few. All of these words give a positive connotation to strength. Strength is, generally, speaking a exceedingly useful tool. Before taking the strength finder test I would probably associate the word strength with physical capabilities. However, through this Strength Finder course I have found a new and much more empowering perspective of this word strength. My strengths according to this assessment are: Futuristic, Belief, Communication, Activator and WOO. All of these strengths are natural talents I personally posses yet if I never work on them and improve them, they will be nothing more than a natural talent instead of empowering strength. Three areas of my life in which I can work to improve these gifts are: relational, academic and professional.
