My strengths as a writer are: I love to do research and create outlines. I absolutely enjoy to learn about anything, whether it is something I know or like, or if it is something I don’t even know what it is. Obviously, technology these days make it a lot easier to find anything you ever wanted to know about something. I can always find enough references through research to write any paper. I also really like doing the outlines to a paper. I can do a main topic and all that follows very easily and know where to put everything in my outline to make the paper flow and stay interesting.
In my first “Who I am as a Writer” paper I stated how one of the areas that I needed to improve was writing. I went into more depth talking about how my writing is not descriptive enough and how I cannot grab the reader's attention. Even though I still need to continue making improvements, I have gotten better in both of these aspects. Compared to my papers in high school my introduction paragraphs have improved.
This semester involved many writings that challenged my process in ways big and small. The variety of prompts each had their own details that required me to change perspectives as well as research topics to test my abilities as a writer. The topic that I felt helped me grow as a writer the most was the Personal Narrative. This essays caused me to think in its own way and only after completion was I able to effectively use the methods it taught me in my other assignments.
Firstly, when it comes to my strengths in writing, I do not believe I carry many. Of the few I possess, my word selection is a constant advantage for me. I try not to settle for undereducated vocabulary. I see this as taking the easy way out and I do not believe I learn from this. Another one of my strengths when it comes to writing is my adequate spelling. Accurate spelling is strongly in my nature. When I am reading I can sense when a word is spelled incorrectly. My final strength in writing is organization. I believe my work is clear to follow. This is important so I can get my message across to my reader. Although I am solid in these aspects of my writing, they
My primary strengths as a writer is using logos in my articles. I prefer to explain my idea logically, and prove my view by providing sufficient evidence and examples. So I like analyzing the news and social phenomenon so that I can understand the reason why these things happened behind the events.
Al, Alde, de, shon, deshon, and Al’Deshon my name takes on many forms. Kind of like my writing in a sense. I have never been a strong writing also being the reason, I took this class first semester I think. If I get it out of the way maybe I’ll have an easier chance of reaching the finish line happening to be graduation.
One of my strengths as a writer is when I start to write I get into a writing flow, it is when someone's thoughts and writing feel like they are completely in sync as they write, and I am sure that almost everyone gets into a flow when they get focused enough. The problem for me is getting into that writing flow in the first place. I am talking about the common writer's block; also, another weakness that I found when I was in English N50 is that I have a particularly hard time writing about myself. I did improve over the course, but I still struggle. The last skill that I exceeded in my last English class is proofreading other classmates work, and that was either because I truly am good at proofreading, or it was because there was a lot of
Thinking about our first writing assignment, one of the suggestions focuses on the comparison of writing to running, it became apparent to me that this is something I would enjoy writing about. I am a long time running advocate, competing in marathons, and a neophyte writing student, and I find many similarities in both endeavors.
My writing abilities have gotten me by in the business environments that I have found myself in. That being said, I lack skill in formal writing. Because I took a clep test that exempted me from English Composition I and II in college, my experience in writing has been limited over the past four years. Furthermore, my major, Geomatics, does not demand a large amount of technical writing which has further limited my exposure to technical writing
When it comes to writing I have a mental breakdown, I get nervous, overthink, and emotionally stressed. These three words describe me as a writer. In high school I would have a difficult time starting papers, often times my weaknesses was grammar and sentences fragments. How I feel about writing is how I feel when a love one dies. It's like as if I'm at a funeral and my paper is the one being funeralized. I think the reason why I am how I am about writing is because my college English teacher in high school was so harsh on my papers, and ever since then I've been traumatize to write papers.
My growth as a writer was evident in my second peer review. In contrast to the first review, I offered comments concerning sentence structure, grammar, parallelism, APA style, and clarity as well (C. Twyman, personal communication, May 2015). It was obvious that my understanding of scholarly writing had improved. I was starting to see how the conventions of writing worked together to form a complete paper, however I was still unsure about my ability to analyze competent scholarly writing. Although my comments had increased in variety, I still found myself unsure about how to give appropriate directives. In communication with Cheryl, I wrote, “maybe reword this” (C. Twyman, personal communication, May 2015). This short but sweet comment
My keys strengths are my customer service skills and my ability to work under pressure and meet targets on a time bound schedule. I have a very good work ethic and determination to achieve high for my company.
I have always loved writing ever since we started having writing prompts in elementary school. I was always so excited to give out a story. I would make these elaborate stories that evolved some fantasy aspects. The only thing that would mess me up in my writing process is that I would have a difficult time setting up the start of the story. The video talked about this, and advised me to get a journal or diary. This would help me write anyway I like without judgment. I am fairly new to the revision part of writing. I would always turn in my draft as is, but now that I think about I would love someone who can give me some advice on my drafts. I've never had a full writing process myself. This has lead to writer's block in the past drafts.
My strengths are experience I have from my practicum and volunteer, hard-working personality, and observation skills. I independently interacted with patients and families and provided therapeutic play and activities in pediatrics and PICU. I also observed child life specialists in NICU, surgery, emergency department, and trauma. Observation enables me to interact and communicate effectively with patients and their families. I respect the individual differences such as culture, religion, and their unique needs.
I believe I do have some good traits as a writer, just no enough of them to overcome my self-consciousness. I am creative, I have an active imagination, and I am able to speak in detail about subjects that I am familiar with. Ultimately, my desire is to entertain a reader with the art of wordsmithing. One of my most successful times I had during the writing process came in 9th grade, when I was required to write my opinion on the different art mediums. My teacher at the time was Mr. Bob Chapman and he gave us free reign, and I remember without limitations it came out naturally, obviously needing revisions and proof reading but getting the information and ideas down on paper seemed effortless. I cannot specifically point to why that was, but can only assume that it was a combination of
Although I have not had the pleasure of participating in research studies outside of school, I believe many of my personal strengths would benefit a research team at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Among these strengths I consider my top three to be discipline, positivity and learning. Through self-reflection, I have observed how these strengths have allowed me to work with others towards achieving a common goal. Throughout any research process, I believe it is important to maintain discipline within that study. Following the correct procedures and using organizational skills enable the research process to be more effective. I am very organized and reliable to follow any guidelines given. At times there may also be unexpected obstacles
