District 2 was my location for my ride along. It's the biggest district that the county has, it covers from interstate 10 to northern then 75th avenue and everything west from that, It covers about 6000 square ft it the areas included in it are Laveen, Rainbow Valley, Tonopah, Phoenix, Avondale, Glendale, and Buckeye and it has 3 contracted cities which are Gila Bend, Litchfield and Goodyear. I was assigned with deputy Horning during swing shift. The shift started at 1000 hours to 2200hours we had beat 225. We had a good safe shift, nothing crazy happened or exciting. Starting the shift we had 3 broken down vehicles/ abandon vehicles we drove by. We walked around the vehicle got the VIN, looked inside thru the window just to make …show more content…
We had no luck with that, no one was excessively speeding. Deputy Horning drove around showing me the other patrol areas in he district. We went to wild life world zoo, they have a high rate of vehicle break ins during the busy season of that park. Then we drove around Luke air force base, they sometimes get calls from them because behind the base is an empty lot and people always abandon vehicles their or burn stolen cars their also. While we was driving around by the base we pulled someone over for speeding she was going 50 in a 35 on Lichfield rd south of Glendale, we ran her name nothing major came up on her priors. She was given a warning and sent of her way. Deputy Horning showed me how to enter her info in the system to complete the warning. I was amazed on how easy it was to enter her info, all he did was scan her license and vehicle registration and it automatically pulled everything up, then he just has to click and drag her info to the warning paper, he printed out 2 copies one for her and for her to sing the other one that he kept and the signature was scanned into the system also. It seemed really easy to do, the traffic stop took around 11 minutes, it took a
Most people are all grown up when they finally figure out what they want to do with their life. I was 4. I realized what I wanted to be when I attended my very first Rodeo. Even though it was so long ago I can remember that day like it was yesturday. That day got me on the path to my future.
One of the biggest mistakes in my life occurred at that time. It was 1:45 am already and the highway was as very dark. I was still going 80, and I never thought there would be a sheriff automobile just waiting for someone at almost 2:00am in the morning to be speeding in an empty highway such as the one I was in. But some how he caught someone, and that “someone” was me. He pulled me over on the side of the
SOG 304.4, Agency Owned Property, subsection 3.1 states: "Employees are required to take proper care of all equipment and supplies entrusted to their use or custody" and subsection 3.1.1 adds "Abuse, misuse, or negligence will result in appropriate disciplinary action." In addition, SOG 304.1, Police Vehicle Operation, subsection 4.2.5(b) states that an officer may "exceed the posted speed limit so long as he does not endanger life or property." Further, however, subsection 4.2, CODE 3, describes when we are authorized to operate as an emergency vehicle. It states; "Emergency situation where conditions exist or are reasonably believed to exist which have resulted or might reasonably result in serious injury, death, or which might have a disastrous effect on the community. And, subsection 4.2.1 adds that "Both the siren and emergency lights must be activated when responding Code 3 (RSMo 304.022)." In this instance, an emergency situation was not occurring and you exceeded the posted speed limit without activating your emergency
Have you ever been in a situation where you didn’t think you could do it? Well I have many times and I’m going to write about a time during Rodeo when I didn’t think I was going to be able to do well in goat tying.
As an incoming freshman to high school, I didn’t know much about the world around me. All I knew was about what happened in Baldwin County. When I first walked into International studies I wasn’t sure what to be prepared for. When we picked our countries, mine was Brazil, for Model U.N. (United Nations), I was anxious about expanding my world view and learning about the world that I live in. Learning about Brazil opened up my mind to new experiences and culture I had previously never known about. Then came the presidential election that year. Our class watched everything involving the election, from interviews to debates, if it was on television we knew about it. Even though I couldn’t vote that year, it altered my perspective on what a president
I never thought I would be labeled an outsider, a misfit even. As I trudged my way through the halls of my small town high school, I would endure the gazing pairs of eyes, that belonged to my peers, followed by whispering and often times some laughter. I always used zone out during those repetitive speeches and commercials about the effects of gossiping and rumors; never did I imagine that one day I would be on the receiving end of of the everyday potshot. Growing up I was always the center of attention, the one everyone yearned to be friends with, never was I the antisocial child in the corner with nowhere to turn… not until high school. They say high school changes you. They say high school accounts for some of the greatest years of
On March 3rd 1991, Los Angeles Police chase a vehicle that was driving erratically. When the vehicle came to a stop after reaching speeds of nearly 120 mph, a total of four cruisers arrived to the scene, including six patrol officers and a sergeant. Of those officers were Laurence Powell, Timothy Wind, Theodore Briseno, Rolando Solano, Tim and Melanie Singer, and Sergeant Stacey Koon. (Linder 2001)
I’ve always been an outsider, it’s been hard for me to build friendships and relationships. Not too long ago, there I sat in the corner of the room in the way back, trying to hide from the world, and be myself. I didn’t really want to get involved with anything or anyone. I was afraid to open up, talk to others, maybe because I was afraid to get rejected. Until, I met the best people I could ever meet, my best friends Marisa Mendoza, Jessica Contreras and Deseray Reyes, the ones who up to this day have sticked by my side, at my best, and worst moments. They have all been a big part of my life, I can enjoy every minute I spend with them. For me, they aren’t only my friends they are like my sisters.
Gibson County, redneck central, hillbilly heaven, Gibco, this is the place I have called home for the past 17 years. On March 6, 1998, I was born in Evansville, Indiana, at Welborn Hospital about 35 minutes away from Haubstadt. After I made it out of the NICU, I was taken home to RR1 Box 108, in Haubstadt, Indiana. My home, since birth, has been situated on the border of Haubstadt, Owensville, Cynthiana, and Posey County. Some of my neighbors have Haubstadt addresses with Fort Branch zip codes and Owensville phone numbers! It’s strange to say the least, but I wouldn’t fancy living anywhere else.
On Friday, August 07, 2015, at approximately 1304, I had just called my dispatch center to let them know I was on duty and dispatch advised they had just aired, over the police radio, an officer safety BOLO (Be on the lookout) for a male party, identified as James Michael Leigh, who currently had a warrant for his arrest, out of Durango Colorado, for homicide. According to Dispatch, James was heading north and his cell phone had been pinged just south of Ouray. Dispatch advised me that James might be driving a green Land Rover, bearing Colorado license (280LDQ). As I was driving my patrol car southbound on Main Street, I passed the green Land Rover as it was traveling northbound on Main Street (Highway 550), at about Eighth Avenue. I advised
On 03-22-17 at 0159 hours, I was working uniformed patrol in patrol unit #48. I was traveling north on Lake Avenue approaching Orange Grove Boulevard. The traffic signal light was green for north/southbound Lake Avenue traffic to proceed. I entered the intersection and observed a black Ford Mustang California license plate #6NWJ831 traveling west on Orange Grove Boulevard approaching Lake Avenue. The vehicle made a right turn onto northbound Lake Avenue without yielding for the red light in violation of CVC 21453(a).
After the Squad Meeting I was paired with a Sheriff. He first started with showing me how to work all of the buttons in the car, how to turn on the sirens and look up information on the laptop. Our first stop was a black jeep vacant on the side of the road. We had to run the tag number and get information on the owner, we than left a sticker on the jeep for a 24hour notice for the car to be moved or it will get towed. After that stopped we visited locally business to make sure they hadn’t be broken into a violated. During this trip he showed me
It was a beautiful day on August 13, 2017 I took my three children on a trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania where they enjoyed learning about a different culture. Soon as we arrived at the Amish Village the children were asking multiples questions: Why, do they wear those type clothes? why they used bogies? Why, do they all look the same? Why, do they look so different from us? Once we got on the bus to start the tour the children seemed to be confused looking at all new things. We saw houses with buggies, horses, and little boys playing outside. The boys were wearing white and black clothes, and the tour guy immediately started explaining the reason of why they were wearing that type of clothes. The look on the face
One of our current presidential candidates once wrote a book titled It Takes a Village and many people add the phrase to raise a child. Linda and I had hoped we had found the perfect village to help us raise Katherine and JT when we moved to Guemes over 12 years ago. Thank you so very much for being a part of that village!
My heart was thumping heavily, as the bus took a turn towards the mountains. I didn’t know why I had agreed, but it was too late to turn back.
