Personal Narrative: My Trip To Washington

Everyone has a favorite memory about their lives. My favorite memory took place when I traveled to Ohio in 2014 for Thanksgiving.

I thought today would be just another normal day in chilled Maryland, but oh could I have been more wrong. The day started out just like every other. My little eleven-year-old heart was full of jubilance. I was having an admirable day with all my friends, and I had no worries. None of my siblings knew that an event that night at dinner was about to change our lives for better or for worse. Most people when they are asked if they could go anywhere they try and think of an extraordinary place. Maybe the person wants to go and make a change in the world or they just want to go out of enjoyment for themselves. When that question crosses my mind I would want to go to Washington DC. When you want to go into education it is good to visit places that you can teach and tell stories about the place you visited and Washington DC has a fantastic educational background.

Have you ever been to Atlanta,Georgia before?The time i went to Atlanta,Georgia was month I have ever had. I got to hangout with my cousins,family,and friends. We had so much fun with them because we did something so much fun.We went to Atlanta,Georgia to go visit people.

Growing up in Ghana, I had heard a lot of things about the U.S. This was a country I had always wanted to visit; my prayer was answered when I got the opportunity to travel there. Arriving in a new environment came with many experiences. Adjusting with food, language and the weather was not easy. With the passage of time, however I have been able to0 adjust and fit it. After the dissatisfying quality of service I received, it is unlikely I will use the airline for my future business trips and request compensation due to employee errors. As a small business owner, I constantly travel and called Jet Express Airlines direct to get the best price for my multiple stop trip. After three calls, I paid $172.50 over my original quote and when I mentioned it to Ashley, the third representative, she said, "Well, you could always take a bus from St. Louis to Nashville, couldn't you?"

My mother was born in Tijuana, Mexico and my father was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. My parents worked very hard to come to the United States, looking for the American dream. They are dedicated to their family and want the best for their children. My parents have not stopped working, always trying to arrange their work schedule with my two siblings and I school schedules. They taught us that the only way to go forward is to work, to put all our best efforts in everything we want to accomplish in life. People either have little knowledge of other countries to believe this general notion or have truly seen and been informed of the opportunal prosperity that exists in the spirit of America. Studying in a foreign country is an interesting experience of an individual lifetime. One tends to learn a number of things relating to ways of life in a foreign land. Social, political and economic values and aspects are usually different from one region to another. Therefore, through studying abroad one is able to learn different issues about another society such as gender and sexuality issues, social class and race/ethnicity issues. Having come from a developing country studying in the U.S.A has been a great experience personally. I am quiet coincided about my trips to Washington D.C. It’s my favorite spot to visit with all the tourist attractions, history, restaurants, and the people. I have been to Washington D.C three times in my life span. My first vacation times there were with my pregnant sister, father, and mother; we were there to visit my aunty and cousins. The second vacation with my 8th grade class mates to sight see and learn more about the districts history. Last! I visit again my senior year of high school to visit the same family.

What is common between San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Stockholm, Johannesburg, Pune, London, Los Angeles and Denver? These are the places my father worked as an Oracle consulting expert therefore I would say International experience at an early age makes me unique. Adjusting to an international college campus culture would be straightforward for me due to my extensive travel in the US, Europe and Asia.

My palms start to sweat, my heart races, and my legs shake as I fantasize which keychain I will pick on the other side of the George Washington Bridge. My mind runs wild in an attempt to figure out what it will look like, how many there will be, or if I will be able to settle on just one. This desire is nothing unnatural. On quite the contrary, this feeling has always been innate. So about 5 years ago it was the last day of school for me and i was excited for my summer to begin. My parents had plan a trip for the family to go visit the US Capitol, The Lincoln Memorial,and the Washington Monument and family that we have up there.For the 4 hour drive we finally got there and trust me I was very excited to be there. So our first stop was the Lincoln Memorial and I thought it was smaller than it looked in movies or pictures that I seen before.Next we went to the Washington Monument I think that was the only one i really wanted to see so i took so lots pictures and video to save to show to my friends when i got back to school. Lastly we the to the US Capitol there was so many steps to get to the actual place so we got there, there was so many paintings on the ceiling first i was confused on about how they got all the way up there to paint that.So it was time to go so me and my oldest cousin that was two years older than me at the time decided we wanted to run down the steps.
