To be truthful, what initially interested me about Georgia Tech was the rankings. Georgia Tech was unbeatable compared to the other colleges in the area. However, that changed when I visited during one of the College of Science's sessions. During the visit, I had the blessing of being able to attend an Introductory biology class, and I was truly amazed at the dedication and awareness that those students had about the world around them. They were studying the case of Molly Nash and her disease Fanconi Anemia, and the student that I was sitting next to offered to let me participate and work with her. I got so excited that I had the chance to be a part of it. Right then, I had a new reason to go to Georgia Tech. I wanted to be a part of a college
We all know that colleges are different. At the same time, we don’t think about how they are similar. The Georgia Institute of Technology is a very suitable college to me. Even though the University of Georgia is just as competitive, Georgia Tech. is still my choice.
Georgia Tech’s ethos is based on improving the world around us by nurturing innovative young minds that possess a great work ethic and a global outlook. The school is all about having a group of motivated students that want to find betters way to do things. My aspirations are very similar and I cannot find a better place to continue my education. With a strong base in engineering and various STEM fields, there is a wide variety of interesting subjects that I would want to pursue at Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech focuses on fostering innovation towards the greater good and solving problems that would positively impact large groups of people and make the world a better place overall. This is exactly what I am looking to do and that’s why I am interested in attending a school whose goals are aligned with my own.
Georgia Tech caught my eye after I received countless amounts of information in the mail, both physical and digital. Even before this, I always knew that Georgia Tech was an outstanding school. With its amazing curriculum in computer engineering and obsession with bees, I was instantly captivated by its rigorous academic . Being focused on innovation and entrepreneurship like the College of Engineering is, I was especially influenced by the fact that Georgia Tech has the largest and one of the best co-op programs in America.
Beyond rankings, location, and athletics, why are you interested in attending Georgia Tech? (max 150 words)
As most journeys begin, it all started with the arrival to Vincennes University. The morning was sadly not bright and sunny, but rather bitter and stormy. It was definitely not one that aroused happy thoughts when it comes to traveling, but still Ben Davis University scholars boarded the charter buses. Patience was a virtue in which we all lacked. We all arrived by 10:45 on June 10th, but still only began moving around 11. We groggily moved towards the buses, dragging around our luggage that would somehow enable us to live and survive during our 1 week stay.
Four of my relatives have graduated from Georgia Tech, so I have been raised with an unwavering pride for the school, and if I were to attend, I would be the first female in my family to do so. A degree from Georgia Tech guarantees my future in a career I am absolutely passionate about, and after much research it is clear that Georgia Tech is more catered to my needs and
I think that the education that Georgia Tech can afford me will allow me the opportunity to help the others in manful and significant ways. The research opportunities, industrial and governmental connections, and top-notch facilities at Georgia Tech allow students to make discoveries and live up to their fullest potentials; likewise, I surmise that Georgia Tech possess the ability to help me live to my fullest potential and to work on some of the most important technical issues in the world. The amount of baffling equipment and research that I could spy through the doors while exploring the campus gave me the insight that Georgia Tech would give me an opportunity like no other to do something with my life. To be concise, Georgia Tech will help
The RAC is one of the nicest gyms I’ve been to! With an indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub, great lifting equipment, etc. On my tour we went to the dining halls for lunch; which amazed me about how good it was. After my tour was over my tour guide asked what really stood out to us about the campus. I replied saying how students were getting unto the dining halls of an eye scanner. I also added that the food was cooked perfectly, the chicken was pure white meat and meet my hunger needs. Something else that influenced my decision to attend Georgia Southern the restaurants outside of the campus. There’s delicious restaurants like Gnats landing, Zaxbys, Cookout, Shrimp places and many more. While on my tour, my family and I stopped at Gnats Landing to eat because of the tempting smell from outside. Being a big fan of football, the school I decide to go do definitely needs a football team. My first thought about going to Southern came from when my friends brother had us up in the “Boro” for a football game. There was so much energy in the stadium and just everyone there was extremely friendly. All the fans are so engaged and committed. Fans would be decked out in blue and white cheering on their team
We all have memories from our childhood, which will never leave our memory no matter how old we may get. Up until I was about 8 years old, I lived in the Victorian Village community in a very old apartment complex that was originally a house that was, awkwardly, broken up into sections to create the different apartment arrangements. While I was living there, I remember going to the Northside library every day in the summer to practice my reading, to Thompson Recreation Center and Goodale Park to play on the playground and with other kids, along with many other great memories. It was during this time I knew attending college was inevitably in my future.
My experience at the arch makes me wonder if the University of Georgia purposefully put up a plaque honoring Confederate students and teachers beside the first black student’s hall. There are many other amazing professors that have gone through the UGA system before 1991, so was this a direct jab at the Hunter and Holmes Hall? Honestly, I do not believe this invalidates anybody’s rights. Ultimately, this just makes people uncomfortable to remember such a dark time in American history. It does not make sense why Athens would want to promote such a horrible memory like the Civil War to outshadow such a great victory for civil rights.
The bus ride to Georgia was long and tiring. I left NC at night with Tra to go and meet this brother named Anwar I had been talking to for some time, and some other Nuwaubian brothers and sisters. Tra and I didn’t arrive to Macon GA until around 11am. I met the family I was going to stay with through this website called New World Order. It was a website geared towards discussing Nuwaubian beliefs, and other topics, and also keeping Nuwaubians abreast of what was going on with the leader. I use to chat with a lot of various people up there. Eventually I came in contact with this brother named Anwar. I first learned about Nuwaubianism years ago through reading some of York’s books and surfing the net. After
My academic experience goes all the way back to 2006, to a small private school in South Carolina, called Spartanburg Methodist College. I was fortunate enough to receive a soccer scholarship where I would be a student athlete and then transfer to a University. However, as you know in life, things don’t always go as planned. Due to a bad ankle injury during my soccer season, I had developed a nerve disorder in my leg. As time went on my leg was not healing like it should have and it was recommended by my doctor (in South Carolina) that I should go home to get better. My academics have always been my number one priority in school, and I have always given my best. However, I had to work harder then most students. I had to work 100 times harder
As a child I did not have much, so going on trips with my mom were rare to none. When I was 12, my mother and I got invited to our family reunion in Georgia. I never been to one but from what I saw on TV, I knew it was going to be eventful and huge. I did not know a lot about the people of my mom’s side beside my grandparents, which is why I wanted, go so bad. After convincing my mother to take off from work so we can go for months, I took my first trip out of Florida. I remember staying up the whole time my mom was driving because I was so excited to meet my family.
Georgia Tech is the name I’ve heard throughout my family whenever the topic of universities come up. Many relatives have gone there, and several currently attend. In a way, it’s a big part of my extended family. In other words, I am interested in attending Georgia Tech for the moral and family support that I can’t get anywhere else. From relatives, I have heard that Georgia Tech offers a unique university experience. From extracurricular clubs to education, it helped find the right balance and also helped students fit in among their peers. Campus life is a very important factor to me, and will most likely be a deciding factor between universities. Despite the university’s location, rankings, and athletics already being strong reasons for attending
Everyone has their own story of why they feel they are deserving of being admitted to the nursing program. Whether it was so they could make their parents proud or due to a family history, every person has their own personal reasoning for wanting to be accepted. So what is my story? I could tell you that I am a current sophomore at Georgia Southern University with a 3.98 GPA who is currently involved in The 100 Collegiate Women of America and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. These things however do not set me apart from other applicants, but there are two things that do: my life experiences and my motivation. My life experiences are not as extravagant as going on a jungle safari or studying abroad in another country, but these experiences significantly changed my life and helped me chose a career in the nursing profession. One of my proudest achievements and best experiences of my life was the day I received my 100 hour pin from DeKalb Medical Hospital. I had been volunteering at DeKalb Medical for the last two years and it was truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It all started at the end of my eleventh grade year when my healthcare teacher had sent me an email telling me of this wonderful volunteer opportunity. Interested I quickly filled out the application and mailed it off as soon as possible. Then one day I received an email saying that I had made it through the first round and I was on to the next round which was the interview process. All dressed up in
