My years as a middle schooler at Mazzuchelli have been filled with some struggles, but many more successes. Mazzuchelli has given me many fun and happy experiences that I will take with me for the rest of my life. Middle school has allowed me to strengthen my academic skills and enjoy a wide range of activities. It has also helped me become more involved in the community. My experience with Mazzuchelli is unlike most. From kindergarten to 5th grade I attended East Dubuque Elementary School. When I was in 5th grade, my two older sisters both transferred to Holy Family Schools. Because of them transferring, and all the new opportunities there, it brought up the question of whether I was going to transfer. After a lot of thinking, I decided I
The 1818 book Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and the 1972 movie Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks both portray the differences in feminism regarding the cultural times through the character of Elizabeth. When Mary Shelley wrote the book Frankenstein, she was on a mission to pursue equal rights in education for her daughter. In Shelley's time, the only way to show feminine empowerment was to be literate and well-poised, which readers can see in certain passages featuring Elizabeth in Shelley's book. In the 1970's, when the movie Young Frankenstein was made, female empowerment was emphasized with a movement called “lipstick feminism”, which encouraged women to
My eyes repeatedly peered to the stands which had a crowd of at least four hundred students eagerly waiting as we were warming up. Observing the crowd I noticed the left side of the field was full of students in orange Parkview High School shirts while to my right students were in purple Brookwood High School shirts. It was the Lacrosse Region Championships between Parkview, the school I played for, and, Brookwood High School. Both of our schools were ranked top ten for biggest rivalries, we knew it would be a fight to win the most significant game for us.
Being in my third year of Bronx River high school I’ve had the opportunity to be apart of PGC, Peer Group Connection. Our main goal in the organization is to help new freshmen in our school to feel comfortable and safe to open up about any problems going on in school or at home. Recently in the Bronx, there has been a tragic stabbing at a local high school called “Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation”. As a result “Matthew McCree and 16 year old Ariane Laboy were stabbed allegedly at the hands of 18-year-old classmate Abel Cedeno”. Myself and other PGC member facilitated group circle within 45 minutes discussing incidents of violence, both locally and across the country while asking essential questions on how we as students can help
The teachers helped me with so much. My life total changed. I had more confidence and I began to believe in myself more. Catonsville High School made me believe I had a brighter future than I thought i would ever had. Especially because mostly everyone doubted me and told me everything that i couldn’t do. Every since i joined Catonsville i saw everything
I am presently a student at Buckingham Charter Magnet High School. I have obtained many experiences and skills throughout my time in high school. Taking several different Art classes provided I was able to express myself and show my creativity. Through my History and English classes I gained knowledge of the past that I will always consider in my future.
I, currently as a student at Ruth Thompson Middle School, have contributed to the community around me in many ways. In my school, as of now, I have been part of the RTMS Tech Team, which includes in helping students with technology, helping teachers set up with assemblies, open houses, replacing PC monitors, and a lot more. As part of tech team, I have also helped with things that are relatively tedious, like sorting out a whole room of cables. Yes, I will do it again at JFSS if I’m assigned or have the opportunity to. Also, I have helped with jobs that may require a little more skill. In my school, I have tried, along with a team of other students, try to install Chrome OS on unsupported hardware, which if succeeds, will be installed on more
Good and bad deeds can usually be classified as black or white, without really thinking about it too much, but that isn't always the case. It's when there is something that is more gray than black and white, people tend to have very strong opinions about that one thing in particular. Depending on what it is, a person’s life could be either improved or ruined. David Tree learned this lesson the hard way when he stopped to give a koala some water while he and some other volunteer firefighters were on their way to a controlled burn. It doesn't matter the situation, there is always a good and a bad way of looking at anything.
Living in Small town located in the Central Valley in state of California. I began my freshman year in 2012 at the Avenal High School. My first day of class and everything seemed to be new for a fourteen years old teenager with big expectations about his future education .Dealing with new people and teachers that I did not back time, I go used to them. Attending to school seemed to be easy when it is not, but also it is not hard if you have determination and discipline. I can tell that I have not fallen my none of classes. There was moment when I got lower grade because I have not been paying attention to the lessons that the teacher was teaching to the class. The mistake of getting lower grade did not make a weak student. I learned to
I have been attending Byron since the 6th grade (2010). This school has helped me recieve good grades and be able to participate in sports. I think that the combination of hard core classes and strict sports is why Byron is such a great place to learn. This school has given me many opertuities in leadership such as becoming a captain of the Byron Dance Team. While we were a small thing we tried very hard ( Like all Byron students and sports) and were able to finish out our season with the highest placement in dance that Byron has received in the past 5 years. This school has a great sports program as well as an even better acedemic program. With
My time at Crone Middle School has come and gone so much faster than I would have ever expected. I can still recall my fifth grade memories as if they occurred just yesterday. If you told me these three years would fly by in a second, I would have never believed you. My fifth grade self thought that middle school would take my entire life to finish, and high school was a whole other topic. As a fifth grader, I was so excited for lockers, new friends, and new classes. I forgot all the other factors that play a role in middle school. This includes grades, homework, tests, quizzes, etc.
In 2014 I began attending Chase High School. I would always joke about how I would be the one to get lost and hide in a locker until three o’clock but when the first day rolled around I wasn’t nervous because I knew most of the seniors and I was on the volleyball team. I loved my freshmen schedule, I had classes with all of my friends, I liked most of my teachers and best of all I had first lunch. Volleyball season was starting off decent, we hadn’t won any games but we were having fun and I was a starter. After about three games into the season the JV team was practicing one day in the AUX gym and that is when my volleyball season took a turn for the worst. We were practicing our hitting lines and it was my turn to hit, the setter set me up but they pushed the ball too far back and
My school fully expects the best out of our students and uses every opportunity to help us reach our full potential. Teachers at Frank McCourt High School are willing to go out of their way to assist students in achieving goals both inside and outside of classes. Our teachers believe in both academic and personal achievement. Whether its helping us get an internship, starting a club, or boosting our grade in a class, FMHS teachers take time out of their day to benefit the students. In our advisories, we have time dedicated to college applications and prep. We have workshops where we work on writing college essays, practicing for interviews, and financial aid, all in the presence of our college counselor. Our academic classes prepare us for
The months went by in a blink of an eye, and it was the last week of school. My classes for the rest of the week, we're watching a movie and eating pizza ,but only people who had a good

My time in High School was made difficult from the constant strife and conflict between my parents. This made my home an unstable environment not fitted for learning or growing as an individual. As I got older and closer to graduating High-School, I began to find my own voice with the help of my mentor Rahn Fleming, which occurred at the end of my junior year. As a result, I came in control of my life and the constant feuding started to die down. No longer did I have to worry about the next scheduled court date, or the next time I would come home wondering what may await. I felt like I was always walking on broken glass for the longest of time throughout my life, until I began to voice myself and what I wanted. My parents came to realize this
