Personal Narrative: New Hope

Growing up with a father in the military, you move around a lot more than you would like to. I was born just east of St. Louis in a city called Shiloh in Illinois. When I was two years old my dad got the assignment to move to Hawaii. We spent seven great years in Hawaii, we had one of the greatest churches I have ever been to name New Hope. New Hope was a lot like Olivet's atmosphere, the people were always friendly and there always something to keep someone busy. I used to dance at church, I did hip-hop and interpretive dance, but you could never tell that from the way I look now. Life was really great while we were there, we were doing so well for ourselves that we had the opportunity to foster a baby girl named Riley. She had it rough when we got she had broken ribs from where her parents had abused her. She was the cutest. After seven years in paradise, my dad got the assignment to move to Whiteman, Missouri. My dad left early to finish paperwork and we were left to pack the house. The packers were horrid, they didn't handle anything stuff with any care, peed on our carpets, and some of our stuff was missing when we got to Missouri. Along with not getting our stuff my father never filled out the papers to move into the house a family. Instead, he sent us to my grandma's house in Cambridge, Illinois.

I thought about what everybody thought of me I didn't make new friends and I pushed away the friends I did have. I was not a very good person sophomore year. I was so small in the world that revolved around me and knew there had to have been more. When I reached this point I started putting God back in my life. My mom held a bible study on Sundays instead of going to church because we didn't like the churches in our area and couldn't afford to drive elsewhere. I learn something very important going to the bible study, which is I can't live without
