Off to africa. First off let's get things straight i'm dead at first I thought I wasn't dead then I looked in a mirror .Now i just ride along with the monsters of the night we decided to take a trip to africa. That's where our story begins. One day while we were just chilling. We were inside a church and we decided to go and see the world. So we hopped on a plane we stole it.Keep that on the low. We just trusted our guts. We ended up in africa. It was full of things i have never before.I saw a tiger for the first time I also saw a rhino for the first time.Africa was so beautiful it had long big trees the climate was just perfect. We met a very cool tribe of other dead people. When I tried to talk to them they seemed to get very testy. They
My family and I was walking down the road and it was dark and muddy. My sister and I was worried about this so called new world because we know nothing about it all we know about is our great country Canada. I was walking beside my brother and my sister was in between my mother and my father. My siblings and I argued a little more than most times at home. The walk took about 4 to 5 days and when we got there to the boat I looked up and
If you already have a child who is under the age of four at home, and you are in the process of trying to adopt another child, you are going to need to explain to your child that they will soon have a sibling. Here are a few strategies for explaining to your child that you are going to adopt their new siblings.
How are you? I am the friend of Catherine Browns's that she connected you with on Facebook. My wife Darla and I lived in Glasgow, Scotland for three years and connected with Catherine while we were there. We worked together and Scotland as well as doing a conference together in Ireland. I mentioned to her that I have been praying for several years about coming to South Africa.
Personal beliefs and ideologies are one of the most important things that make us individual and unique. A person's morals define them, and in most cases, will directly impact how they act in their day-to-day inquiries. Usually, these beliefs will stay secure, but even the strongest people can fall victim to the vicious, mind-controlling force of mob mentality. One place where this is demonstrated is inside the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. This novel entails a battle against the ruthless nature of social pressure, and what it can do for people.
I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, one of the vast growing countries in Africa. Growing up in Africa is tough and even tougher for a child like me. My mother came to the US in 2008, leaving me and my younger sister behind with our father. I was seven at the time and my sister was a two month old infant. My father gave up his job to take care of us. In the Ethiopian culture, it was unusual for a man to stay in the house and do what women were expected to do, which was to take care of the kids, but my father ignored the gender role and went on with his life. I haven’t forgotten about my mother. My mother was a high school graduate who was only one step away from becoming a teacher, but she got an urgent call from the American Embassy
If I was a European thinking about moving to the New World, I would base my decision based off the images and descriptions that were available. One of the images that would deter me from migrating away was a piece of artwork done by Jacques Le Moyne. His picture entails a group of natives who are trying to fight off a fearsome looking alligator. Theodore De Bry describes them plunging a pole into it’s mouth and turning it around so they can stab their stomach. He goes on to say that the natives have to watch out for them day and night because of how frequent they appear. Since I don’t really know how to defend myself against such creatures, I would be afraid to live somewhere where danger is constant. I also would not want to deal with vampire
I grow up in Congo, with an african culture where young men and women are exposed to alcohol and tobacco at a very young age. In family, parents and family members are very strict, no matter what is your age, you are not allowed to drink alcohol and to smook. By mistake, if you end up becoming a drinker or a smoker, it is a kind disgrace and shame for your family. Because a drinker is seeing as an unserious person, someone that you can trust or give responsibilities. Even myself, I grow up being afraid of drinking alcohol or smoking cigarette, because I didn’t want to dishonor my family. Furthermore, while talking about friends’ influences, it depends on whom you were spending your time with. As an example, if you were surrendering by bad friends,
Throughout the active school year, I take part in cross country, track and basketball. I also played volleyball for a year, but I decided to concentrate on my main passion, cross country, instead of dividing my time and attention into two sports at the same time. I have been running cross country ever since I was old enough to run in the munchkin races. The sport has been passed down through the family, almost every single one of my siblings have run or at least tried it. In track, I have ran the mile and two mile since the seventh grade. These last couple years I joined into the long distance relays. In 2016, the first year we decided to start a relay it consisted of my sister, Victoria, Tristen Ness, and Sammy Swanson. The first time we ran
Last year I started a new sport, cross country. I only did it because my lacrosse coach said that it might help me get better for lacrosse. So I went to the first late summer practice last year to see what this was like, so then we did warm-ups and a lap around the track. Then it was the first time I met coach Chase, My first impression of him was going to be very strict, But soon realized that this was false because of one of the first things he said. He said “I know there are a lot of nerves here right now, but cross country isn’t about winning every race, that comes later” then continued with “Cross country is about showing what you can do to yourself.” This struck me very hard because I was not that fast and was near the back. Through that fall the team did very well, I also made some progress myself. After the season was over I made a decision.
So we went to great wolf lodge, we are driving and I tried to take a nap and all I heard was two of my friends just laughing because they were watching vines. So I told them to shut up and went back to sleep. I slept for one hour and someone called me on the bus floor, and were just talking until we arrived at Great Wolf Lodge. We got of the bus, grabbed our bags and headed in, then we went to separate rooms.
It was October 2016 of my junior year, right in the heart of the Cross Country season. Cross Country was fun and team was doing great, but I was looking forward to the upcoming winter track season. High jump is where it is at and that is where I wanted to be and then it happened… I went down and my ankle was caught underneath me and twisted. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but I was hurt. I was on the ground, in pain as other racers passed me. I was able to get to the finish it wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t fast, but I did it.

As of now I must have my parents turning in their graves with what I am doing now. I stood in a boxing ring in a room full of men that looked at me like I was their prey, the person they would feast on. Hungry looks cover the faces of the paunchy men. I was hired to dance for the men in an outfit that left nothing to the imagination; I was practically naked. Money was money and I really need the cash they are offering. But the fact that a good amount of cash would be coming my way, I was fearful of what would happen after I was done dancing. Black boys stood in front of the ring. Some with uncomfortable faces, others with the same expressions as the white men in the room. Soon enough, someone clicked play on a stereo and I began to dance.
Growing up, I didn’t know much about Somalia, despite being Somali myself. I never saw Somali people being portrayed on screen and never learned about them in history class. This, paired with being the only Somali student in school, was why I never really felt the sense of pride that other people felt when it came to their ethnicity. My parents noticed this and thought it was essential for me to visit Somalia, leading to a trip during the summer of 2013, when I was 13 years old.
Trying to find memories is like looking for treasure. You look at the surface and see something mediocre, but you dig deep and find something cool, pretty, and meaningful. It took a while to think of a fond memory, but once I thought of some, it was hard to choose a favorite. Growing up I have had many great experiences in the form of vacations. Between going to Disney World, owning a vacation home, hanging out with my grandparents in Arizona, traveling to Canada and more. They all make amazing memories that I will forever cherish. The vacation spot we go to the most, though, is Wisconsin Dells. A few times I have been allowed to invite friends to come with. When I am allowed to bring friends, it is always a ginormous amount of fun. We goof off in the hotel room, play in the arcades, and swim in the water parks.
