On December 15th 2008 I was 6 years old I was going up the bronze chair I was getting better and I could do easy greens and easy blues. My dad said to me if I tried a black diamond for the first time he would give me two gingerbread cookies so I did it. but it was pretty funny to watch. But I whind and cried the rest of the way down. The rest of the way down I did pretty well it was just the very top that was kinda tricky. I did get the cookies when I came down. I had cold wet freezing snow down my back and in my pants. I came down like a snowman and asked my mum to get me to get me a blanket from the truck and I also asked for a cup of hot
Pursuing a university degree while continuing to ski race at a high level is my main goals for the next four years. I strive to find balance between school and sport while pursuing excellence in both. Growing up and learning how to ski on limited snow in Nova Scotia has given me a deep appreciation of all the wonderful ski centers Canada has to offer. I developed my love for skiing on the 2.5 km of trails that Martock Nordic Ski Club groomed near Windsor, NS, those small trails sparked my interest in skiing and have kept me loving skiing ever since. When deciding what to do after high school, I knew that I wanted to continue ski racing, but also continue with my education.
When I was skating at St. Cloud state. The date it happened was 2015, in fifth grade. I was skating for a school field trip. I was with a few of my friends while it happened.
We were waiting in line, I was so scared. Dad said, “Go on the ride it will be fun.” Finally it was our turn when we got on the ride we started going up.¨Are you ready?¨”Dad said. I was not feeling great about doing this. When we hit the top we went straight down everyone was screaming. I was so scared but relieved I did it. The rest of the ride
Omg! I am going to have so much fun snowboarding! Today in my life I am at a super cool place. It’s in the UP and it’s called Ski Brule. It has all the snow hills you could possibly think about. I could never stop imagine me going down the hill and be so proud of me. But hopefully I don’t break any bones in my body. Because I still have basketball in the winter. But after I just took a soft energize nap. Then… We arrived. OM to the G! It was exactly what I imagined. The people gliding through the snow with their cool snowboards and their ski’s.
If the truth be told to set one free, then what will a lie do? The answer to this question can be found in The Scarlet Letter, as a secret torments the soul of a respected minister. In the novel, extreme hypocrisy is seen in the community’s leaders while goodness is found in an adulterer.
Both of our families went to the ski lift, and everyone filled with joy ready to go ski. We started out easy and went on one of the blue square mountains, but then we stepped it up and went on the second easiest black diamond mountain. That was pretty hard even for me and you could tell Aidan was struggling,
During ski season, I spend an average of 22 hours a week with my teams. The sport of ski racing has taken up a huge part of my life, and thus has affected my life in innumerable ways. I have been skiing since I was four years old, but started racing in 7th grade. My freshman year, I quickly realized that hard work was necessary to get what I wanted. I had to choose between skiing on both teams, my grades, and other activities if I was going to pursue them with the dedication with which I wanted. It really wasn’t a choice to me. I chose a hard course load and skiing over a number of other activities that I could have pursued. Staying involved while maintaining my 3.78 GPA has taught me a lot about time management and leadership, and has
On our way up the mountain, we saw lots of Toucans and monkeys. It was a very bumpy ride. Sometimes the mountain got so steep that I thought we were going to fall backwards. Once we reached the top we got out. The workers helped us put on the harnesses. The woman who worked there jumped on the zip line and went down first so she could be the catcher at the bottom. None of us wanted to go, it looks way to scary. So my dad made Gage go first, he was assisted by another worker as he was too little to go alone. Once we all new that Gage made it safely we did rock paper scissors to see who went next. Ian went and then I went and then my dad went. There were 4 lines, at first we were only going 60 miles per hour, by the time we were on the last one we got up to speeds of 90 miles per hour, the length of the lines was 3 miles. The wind on my face and body actually hurt and it was hard to breath at
Olivia slammed the door to her log cabin in Lake Tahoe, she had seen Brooke in the cabin next to hers. Olivia hated Brooke. Her family had lots of money so she would get everything she wanted. Olivia wanted that necklace she’d always seen Brooke wear since her birthday.
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has become a mainstay in American high-schools. This is a classic novel that has inspired many people of all ages. It had a big impact on how people viewed and treated each other. This is a story that teaches everyone about the value of honesty, love, friendship and trust. Every word written in this book has a truly deep meaning to it. The time period that the book was written in was during the Great Depression in the 1930’s. This setting was in a small town in Maycomb, Alabama with people who did not get along. During this time there was a lot of segregation within America and different races. To Kill a Mockingbird is about a family who believes in doing the right thing and being honest. There was a
I turned to go uphill into it because I couldn’t slow down. All of a sudden I hit a tiny ice chunk, and double ejected at least 20 feet, did a side flip and a half to the side of my head/shoulder, and as soon as I hit the ground. I heard Cannon say “That was awesome dude… are you okay?” Then Brigham Yelled “Did you get that on video? We could send it to Jerry of The Day!” I was in shock, and freaking out, so I didn’t realize how badly it hurt, and the fact that I got the wind knocked out of me. I was gasping for air, I started telling Cannon that I think I broke my arm. He didn’t believe me, and to be honest, I thought I was overreacting, too. So I tried to sit up, I could barely get my head off the ground, but when I did, my arm just flopped behind my body and put me in the worst pain of my life. I had Cannon go get Ski Patrol. When Ski Patrol finally showed up, everyone started chanting “The sled of shame! You have to sit in the sled of shame!” I had to climb into the sled which was very difficult, when I got in, the man wrapped me up in a bunch of blankets. I rode down to the Ski Patrol shack and had to walk up some stairs which was the most difficult thing I had ever done in my
I was about ten years old and we were in Orange Beach. After walking up the neverending flights of stairs, my cousin and I finally reached the top. We were ziplining about 70 feet in the air and over a lake. I was nervous, but realized the only way
When I was twelve years old my best friend’s family decided to try snowboarding and skiing for the first time, that’s when I learned my lesson. My best friend at the time was 14, he lived right down the road from my house and his family was my second family for a long time. His name was John, he invited me on the trip as well. We went to my house to ask my parents about the trip five day snowboarding trip. I asked them separately and got two different answers. My dad was all for it, he even offered to pay for everything. My mom on the other hand was worried because it was all the way in Pennsylvania and it was five days away from me . The fact that I had never been on a snowboard or skis in my life didn’t help my argument either. So as the day approached I still hadn't received a direct answer from my mom. So Tim, my friend’s dad went to my house and reassured her that I was in good hands and all that good stuff. When he arrived back at his house he said through my friend’s door “ Get packed we are leaving in two days” and the arrangements were made. On the day of the trip, my dad gave Tim the money for my equipment and such. He also turned to me and handed me my very first 100 dollar bill for whatever I wanted or needed on the trip. My mom handed me a prepaid cell phone and she told me to call her twice a day. I went
It was as hot as the sun in Lakeland , Florida that summer morning. Me and my dad were trying out my new roller blades that I got for my 8th birthday. I was super nervous about it all. I was starting to regret it all, when my dad said ,” You can do this!” I told him ,” OK, if you say so “ and we just started strolling around holding each others hands.
The study by Ridker et al. (2005), “A Randomized Trial of Low-Dose Aspirin in the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Women,” is a generally well-articulated article describing the large randomized trial of nearly 40,000 women and the impact of low dose aspirin followed for 10 years on the end-point of cardiovascular events. The authors present a compelling case for investigating the use of aspirin in women specifically citing a lack of data in the literature, and more specifically the differences in metabolism of aspirin by women and the role of hormone therapy, to support the need for a woman specific study.
