“Are we there yet?” I asked in a bored, but excited tone.
“Almost,” replied my mom. We were on a road in the countryside surrounded by yellow fields full of seemingly ripe crops and lush green pastures with grazing cows and horses. The drive had been 3 hours long, and I was pumped to get to our destination, which was a little cabin in a wildlife park. We would be staying for 3 days and nights, hopefully entertained by the options of biking, hiking, and canoeing in the wilderness. Sadly, there wouldn’t be any wifi, so no chances of youtube.
“We’re here,” said my dad a few minutes later.
“Finally!” I exclaimed. This long ride was finally gonna be over, and the fun would begin. But naturally, we would have to check in first. As I looked around the car, gathering stuff to unload, I see my sister on her phone, covered in her blanket that she had brought. She was probably on social media with her friends. I never got the fun in that.
“When are we gonna see our cabin?” I asked when we stopped at the front office.
“After we check in,” replied my dad. After we checked in and asked about the activities that were available, we drove through a path to cabin number 5 (our cabin), and began to unpack our stuff. As I walked into the cabin with my electronics and backpack, I noticed that there was a fireplace, gas stove, kettle, and lantern.
“Mom, can we turn on the fireplace?” I asked.
“Sure,” she answered, “But not now, because you’re going to go outside and play. I heard there are canoes and bikes. Which do you want to do first?”
“I wanna canoe right now!” I said.
“Ok,” she replied, “But your sister has to agree first.”
“Joy!” I called, “Is it okay if we go canoeing for the rest of the day?”
“I really don’t care, so ok!” she replied.
“Yay!” I exclaimed in joy. “Better get ready!” I called again.
“Ok!’ She called back. After I had prepared and finished unloading the car, I asked:
“Are you ready yet?”
“No,” She replied.
“Then can you please hurry?” I called again. I was so excited to go canoeing again. I haven’t gone canoeing in so long. After my sister was prepared and we left the cabin, we walked by the dirt road we had drove on to get to the cabin. The canoes were off to the side of the road next to a pond. There were
You swung your leg over and pushed yourself on too, helping me to find the handles. Your parents took off, pulling us out into the open water of the lake. As your dad took turns we flew into the hair, screaming as we went. By the end I was breathless and giddy, ready to do it all over again on another summer day.
I grabbed the broom lying against the wall. I started to sweep under the table and into the dustpan. “ Ok I think we’re done.”, “Ok”. I saw that there wasn’t much left to do, so I just started grabbing the plates and cups that were clean. “You’re my bubby” I said grabbing Evelyn by the arm so she would follow me. “I can’t wait until we get to go tubing!”, “Me too”. We took the clean dishes to the ledge and walked back to our table. “Who is tubing?” Cecilia one of our camp counselors asked “ We are” I said speaking for evelyn. “So am I” Georgia and Pier added. “Okay, let’s get you girls changed” We walked out of the dining hall and went back to our cabin. We were out in just a couple minutes, and ready to go tubing. As we walked to the waterfront stairs, we passed the red chairs and hammocks. Our excitement grew. We walked down all 70 steps to get down to the waterfront. As we reached the sand I took off my water shoes and felt the soft sand touch my feet. “Ok Emma is going to wait here with you while I check how long you have to wait until it’s your turn to tube. Emma is the cabin 9
The drive to tennessee was too long. I don’t enjoy sitting in our sedan squeezed between my two younger siblings for 8 whole hours. As we enter the downtown area, my mother asks me to give her directions to aunt Jane’s house off of our map.
He hesitated before answering. “If you have time a picnic lunch? Or on the ramparts if you’re too busy, or even here if you prefer.”
“KEE LOO LA DO!” she shouted. Her whole family pops out of their hiding spots, there was a lot of them. So me and Shania talked about how there was a monster where she lived, and they were all scared so the flied from there, and took shelter in the pool. Everyone in Shania’s family felt bad, so they all helped cleaned out the pool. Me, Kennice, Natalie, and Trinity, helped to bring the family back to the swamp, and there was no monster in sight. Me, Kennice, Natalie, and Trinity went back to the pool and had lots of fun. And we lived happily ever
“Are you ready to go?” I asked. I never thought to ask if she wanted to go with me. I just needed her to.
“Welcome aboard the Caribbean Princess!” the lady at the entrance to the ship said as we walked through. We hadn’t really planned this cruise out, and we only booked it a few weeks ago, but we were all excited for it. The only one of us who had ever been on a cruise was my older sister, Chelsea, so only she knew what to expect. I looked around at the lobby of the ship. There were two staircases on each side of a pair of French doors. The doors led into an elegant restaurant. Past each staircase were large, open rooms. There was a desk off to the right side of the entrance. As we walked towards, the man behind it greeted us, “Hello! Welcome aboard. Is there anything I can help you with?”
As we sit on the hammock, we talk for about 20 minutes. My cousin Logan and I agreed that there's nothing to do with the lake but my cousin Derek who has an optimistic mine says, “Maybe we should go tubing”? Logan and I both say, “Not really interested.” Then Derek pitches, we can’t just sit here all day and do nothing.” At that moment an idea popped in my head. “How about we go fishing” I say. “Sure” Logan agreed.
“These are the moments I wanted when I booked this trip.” I said. I looked at Jess. I was overcome with happiness, and I was glad I was not alone. I leaned in and-
“Well, hop on board,” Tucker said without hesitation. “I’ll have you there in a jiffy.”
“I was really afraid he was going to do that but he took me straight to his family homestead. His parents and bunch of his relatives were there the whole time. They were really nice but they just wouldn’t let me go.”
“Yep. Let's go get some breakfast.” She said. I put the car into reverse and backed out of the driveway. We pulled into the parking lot and I turned the car off. Lexi and I walked into waffle house and ordered. We got back into the car and drove back to the house.
“Finally, we get to go on vacation!” I exclaimed as we got up to leave. My parents had already loaded up the car and we were ready to go. All morning while I was getting ready was the sound of suitcases being dragged around and the beeping of the car as the trunk opened and closed.
“Ok girls, pack up your stuff for camping, but remember we’re only going for one night.” Our councilor ,Greer, told us. So we packed our stuff in bags and went to set up our tents.
“Wait up!¨ I hollered at Kayla as she slid her paddle board into the water. I sprinted down the steep hill toward the lake. Kayla paused and smiled as I lugged my paddle board out of the shed. Then, I slid my board into the water and wrapped the velcro strap around my ankle.
