It was a strange and terrifying September morning. The birds were chirping ridiculously loud, meaningless music was blaring out of the extremely old radio, and lastly the most greatest sound of them all - the bell. Most of us students sprinted out of the gym upon hearing the bell because they were afraid of being late to their next late, even though all the teachers told us that we could be a bit late to our classes - but only for the first week of school of course. Anyways, I ran out of the gym like everybody else and took a peek at my schedule. Third Period, Lutthans, Math, okay. Simple. I made my way through the long and crowded halls and did my best to find the piece of paper hanging right above the four hundred hallway. Eventually, I found the paper sign and …show more content…
I pushed my way through the crowd and stood next to them - the sign above the classroom read “Room 402.” A series of thoughts clogged up my head. Was this the right classroom? I think I remember the number 402 somewhere on my paper? Yeah, I think so. Oh well, screw this, I am going in. I put all of my books underneath one arm and yanked the door open. Michael and Ayush followed me into the dark room. When I looked around, I whispered to Michael and Ayush, “Why does everyone here look so old and appear to be mega tall?” It was a bit funny except for that the entire class heard me, including the teacher. Yeah… We took one last look at the extremely quiet classroom and slowly backed out of the room. Those people seemed to know their way around the school - unlike us. Oh well. We carefully shut the door and realized that we were the only people in the hallway. Dang it. I took another look at my schedule and read some small print underneath some irrelevant text, “Third Period, Lutthans, Math, Room 402.” MY GOSH! WE WERE JUST IN THAT CLASSROOM!
A school day went like this, we’d go to breakfast and wait in the line scoping out the cafeteria to see who we’d be in class with and who we’d get in trouble with. Then there comes first period with Mrs. collins, she teaches social studies and her class was pretty boring. I’d take notes each day and secretly laugh at my friends as they’d try to doze off, constantly looking at the clock knowing that in an hour I’d be in my “fun” class where I could relax. So it's time for next period and this was science class taught by the coach of all boy sports so we didn’t do much. We opened a book on our desk to whatever page he had written on the board, and the rule was: whenever someone comes to the door act like you’re working. Now, don’t get me wrong occasionally we would do assignments and take a quiz or two, but we had it pretty easy, except for the days after the games and the boys did bad. A victory meant we would watch a movie and a defeat meant we’d have to read the chapter, answer the questions at the end, and turn our work
The bell rang louder than ever and that meant we had to transition back to homeroom. All of the students huddled into the door frame and pushed and shoved out of the classroom. Me being the smart child just stepped aside and let the stampede pass. When I entered Ms.Erskine’s class, I saw an unfamiliar face sitting next to my other friend Fatim. Fatim and Nevaeh were sitting at the desk chatting away like they were previous best friends. I slowly walked into the classroom confused
Unfortunately, I know all too well about terrible training experiences. There is nothing worse than unprepared trainers who do not know how to utilize the technology or how to train other people. In my case, I was amazed at how far I got in the finance business when I was hired as an assistant manager of a store location, my second day of training the manager quit and they never sent anyone to replace her. Subsequently, they moved me into the manager position, and I taught myself everything via a handbook. Honestly, I would have never thought that such a rocky start would have lead me to be a District Manager over nineteen stores, all brand new locations, and then moved to a Regional position in charge of seventy-one stores. Even with the promotions,
BEEP BEEP BEEP the alarm clock goes off, it reads 6:00 am , I'm up and ready to get in the shower. By 6:50 I'm dressed and ready to start my 25 minute walk to school. It’s 7:15 and I'm walking through the doors of Holy Name Central Catholic High School. RING now it's 7:20 time to get my books for my classes. RING It is now 7:40 the official start of the school day and the official start of my first class. What you didn't know was that I went to bed at 11:30 pm because I was up doing my homework and studying for the test and quizzes that I have this week. Why did you got to bed at 11:30 you ask? Well when I get home from walking for 25 minutes I have to do my chores, watch my brothers and run errands with my mother and do my school work.
I was stoned the first time I went to a gym. I came in with some friends and we were all non-stop laughing. Everyone must have thought we were crazy. The first thing we did was go to the locker room to change out; we felt like we needed to calm down. We still couldn't take each other serious, so we decided to start working out. We started out with biceps, doing simple curls. Well, not so simple since every time we curled up a weight, we would act like Goku going super saiyin from “Dragon Ball Z.”
were minimized to only present a size run of each product and many of the unused or unneccessary items were taken completely off the retail floor. New colors for the walls, more wood floors (less carpet), and a minimalistic appearance transformed this old and tired store into something fresh and new. These are all principles Steve and I learned at Footlocker and the benefits were immediate.
After the breaking point, after facing fear, failure follows. This failure implicated the true nature of me, and what I would do for success. "Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat." The brute will and determination that rises from the ashes of failure contributed to the strength and development of me.
Falling short as an athlete is something that isn't acceptable. Making us as a group push to ack has been something that all through elementary school and middle school I enjoyed doing actually loved. As a highschool freshman this whole track thing really hit me hard. Like literally. The workouts are pretty intense, in meaning there a lot of sprinting endurance based making it hard. I didn't track pre season which really wasn't a help and our endurance for volleyball wasn't even to par then. So I was really coming into track season a blob of mess and fat. But I had a good heart and great intentions. Krumb our coach who also doubles as the boys football coach, which is totally insane by the way trains us like linebackers or something. I
VO ALEX:” I’m Alex, I was going to be an FBI agent, I almost made it, but I failed a certain test-
It started during sophomore year of high school. It was the first day of school all i could think about was what teachers and students would presume of me. I sauntered to my first class it wasn’t as bad as i interpreted it would be, had many friends/ acquaintances for each class, but there was one particular class that I disliked. Majority of students would say math, science, or English was their worst subject , not for me. Out of all the subjects i despise gym, ironically enough i would start working out at the gym later on. Gym was not my main priority, my teachers knew that. I wouldn't do as instructed , i would frequently find a easier way to finish the workout. At the end of the day i just didnt care , until one day when it came time
Before I knew it, one of our not so good kids was running up to me yelling “Miss Dana, Miss Dana!,”gave me a big hug and ran back. It was a good feeling after a long day at school. I walked and noticed our worse kid was leaving and a sigh of relief came. The kids sat in their assigned spots and waited quietly while Michaela got her laptop. She explained the game while I put the poly spots in random areas in the gym. The kids came to the middle of the gym around the circle. Michaela and I stood in the middle, put Disney music on, watched the kids dance around the circle clockwise direction. Paused the music and all you see are the kids pausing and then quickly running to a poly spot. Down one kid each time, finally getting to the winner. I think they enjoyed playing musical spots, but I think they enjoyed
Ding! Dong! I grabbed my backpack and my violin head out the door. "Dang it! for minutes to put this away and got to homeroom," I thought. I scrambled down the stairs, skipping a couple steps and ran fast. Faster than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. The bell seemed to yell at me like my mother would. The wind was so strong that it nearly took me off my feet. Running through the irony gate with its creaking sound, seeming to laugh at me. But, I did manage to get in. Three minutes left. I ran like a runaway train while seeing the cream colored walls of the school running with me. As I opened Mrs. Price's door, I bumped into an old friend. She started talking all of what happened so far in her first year, it felt like hours ticking
I walked into a new gym, and I saw a guy hitting a volleyball harder than I had ever seen anyone hit before. In the next moment I saw him walking over to me before my practice started. He said hello to me. I was a 13 year old kid when I first meet KK Paela at club volleyball practice. After knowing KK for a year, he began to help me become a better volleyball player by fixing all of the mistakes that I was making. He told me how to improve my hitting by reaching my elbow up higher, how to become a better passer by keeping my platform out in front of my body, and to hit around the block instead of hitting right into it. Everything that he has taught me since the day that I first met him has made me the person that I
P.E. has been very diffrent for the past three weeks. Nylina and I (esme) work our butts off even though sometimes we were lazy. For the past week we been working on our triceps, bicep, pectorals, latissimus doirs, ect. The workouts were very intense. Specifically Tuesday! Every tuesday we did medicine balls & step ups with weights. Thoes killed us, but we did it. It was very hot in the loocker room too.
Throughout the year in blended guided fitness my level of fitness did not change drastically because of my continued commitment to swimming. In terms of all my fitness testing throughout the year, beginning with the sit ups i showed a significant improvement, with a base line of thirty-two and ended the year with eighty sit-ups. I think the major reasoning for this improvement is dry land work that I participated in during my high school swim season, which focused on abdominal strength and building muscular endurance. The next fitness test I had was the push up test, my baseline for pushups in September was 10 push ups. My score increased to 12. Although it was not as much of a drastic improvement as my sit-ups, I still think it reflected
