“Where am I? What’s happening?” I thought to myself. “What’s going on?” It was late summer, and I was just coming out of my egg. After I hatched, I looked around in awe as I saw the world for the first time. I saw the bright green seaweed I was surrounded by. I saw the scintillating water as it was warmed by the sun. I saw various schools of fish swim
I turned my head to see the night sky. The ocean was so calm that it appeared as though a mural of stars were in front of me, as though I could leap forward into the black blanket of white sparkles. A star that shined yellow grew bigger as time went on. I imagined it was a firefly floating over the ocean just a short distance away. Oddly enough the firefly was moving closer to me somehow. The firefly started to appear as a small cat walking down from the sky.
Yonder, I see vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold. As the sun rises, its dazzling beams illuminate a vast field of green dotted by blue irises. A white swallow caresses her nesting child, just like hope has begun to caress me. Next to the birds, I see a newly broken cocoon; a butterfly has come into the world.
The first thing I ever felt was intense wind and somehow I knew that when I opened my eyes alI I would see is blue. Light pale grey blue. Blue so light that the horizon can’t tell where the grey water ends and the sky begins. Blue that promises rain and storms and chaos. I was sitting on something. Something with scales and muscles pumping, up and down, up and down and I could only grin because I knew. When I finally opened my eyes and looked at the dragon on whose back I sat, all I could feel was peace. Peace in the air with the slate skies. The dragon pushed harder, flapping it’s wings faster. Up up up up. I thought the farther up we went, the less air there would be, but no. There was more. I felt it in my blood. It flowed in constant wind, sending us through the layers and layers of atmosphere.
My toes wiggling in the damp golden sand. The salty air invading my nostrils. Ocean waves are crashing up against the shore and receding back into the deep blue waters. The ultraviolet rays of the sun are heating my pale skin. William and the boys are building a large sandcastle. They cover the gleaming turrets with slimy brown seaweed and pristine white shells. The rolling hills to my right are a dark shade of green, having been healthily watered by the summer showers. Small feathery clouds move steadily through the gleaming blue limitless
Hi, I am Molly the water molecule. I am going to explain the journey I go through none stop. It changed every time by a little bit, but I am share to you my latest one.
When I got back, my tub water was almost all over the place. I turn my water off and took off all my school clothes and put them on the counter. Then I put my phone right next to my bath even though it might not be smart. I put my bath salts in the water, then I grab the bath bomb and put my foot in there to check the temperature. Its a tad bit too hot. Both of my feet went in the water and eventually my whole body did. I drop my bath bomb and watch it dissolve which made my bath water turn to a pale pink color. As soon as I lean back, my phone rings. It's my Aunt Jane.
For the first time in my life, I was at the top looking down. The tower of little things I’d built to get there began to quake. I was no longer comfortable with the average life I’d always seen for myself. I hadn’t realized how big the world was outside of my microscopic bubble and it only took one glance for me to realize I wanted more.
We filled those hot summer days playing hopscotch and marbles, or rolled down the hills in my yard until we felt so dizzy that we couldn’t stand. The brook below our house was gentle. Sometimes we would both go down, sit on the bridge while we let our feet hang loose to let the cooling water drip past our toes, and breathed in the smell of pine and moss. The sound of rushing water hitting the rocks was soothing. You could see giant bullfrogs peering their heads up and out of the water, as still as could be. Although their green coloring blends in with the moss, I always knew to look for a pair of gleaming yellow eyes, and their white chin that was always above the surface of the water. We usually let them be, but sometimes we liked to try to catch their wet and slimy
It was a normal day I got home and my mom was there. “She told me are you ready?” “I said for what?” She exclaimed “You’re going to Norris Lake!” I was super excited because I was going with my friend from my soccer team Trey. I got packed as fast I can and they picked me up. The only problem was it was 101 degrees and a 8 hour drive. About halfway to the lake we stop at a restaurant and get food. We went to Wendys. After that we would drive and get gas and about 10 minutes before we get there we stop at Walmart and get food for the entire week.
As I ventured inside through the entryway. This immense yard used to be quite recently included space looked well past my desires. Two little condos developed were standing confronting each other on each side, in the center was a wellspring running new water. The entire inside of the house was changed, no all the more venturing outside to get some crisp water. It make life considerably less demanding for the ladies to do their day by day shores.
Today I met with Mr. Schwinnen and Mrs. Laughbaum at the high school in order to perform chemical testing on my water samples. Mr. Schwinnen taught me how to use the YSI 9300 Photometer to find the phosphorus and nitrogen levels. For both tests, I filled a test tube with my water sample of a site, and then I put a crushed tablet that goes with whichever test I was doing (nitrogen or phosphorus). After that dissolved, I put the a second crushed tablet into the sample and let that sit for 15 minutes. The two tablets are labeled so I know when to use each one. While the test tube was sitting, the water would change colors. Once the 15 minutes were up, I put the sample into the YSI 9300 Photometer so it could give me the nitrogen and phosphorus levels. I repeated these steps for all 5 sites with the nitrogen tablets and phosphorus tablets. After I wrote down all my results, Mr. Schwinnen showed me the HI 93703 and I found the turbidity. All I had to do was shake all my water samples and put them into test tubes. These test tubes then went into
As a young child, I fantasized about one day becoming a detective as I was passionate about investigating, interrogating, and crime solving in general. This one dream consumed every aspect of my life for much of my childhood. So much so that catching me without my tan double-breasted trench coat, better known as my "detective coat" was not an option. With its deep rectangular front pockets, it was quite convenient for carrying my magnifying glass that I used for exploring. Even while wearing my detective coat, I discovered my favorite animated television show about four meddling teenagers and their talking canine who had a niche for solving mysteries. But the one item from my past that I cherish the most is my stuffed Scooby Doo. Although there have been a number of mishaps to his appearance, the memories and adventures we share will never be erased and live on to this day.
I continuously consumed water or a cold beverage to try and stay hydrated on a hot summer day at a softball tournament. I congratulated my friend on her playing and started to leave the field. I sat down in the car, buckled my seatbelt, and then started the car’s engine. Right after I took the first turn out of the parking lot I had to go to the bathroom. I thought to myself that I should have gone before I left; I should had remembered the extent of the water intake I consumed and never departed to go relieve myself. By this time, I was too late to turn back around and go use a bathroom at the softball diamonds because two cars were behind me wanting to leave, so I decided to hold back going to the bathroom. I made two more turns before I
Rays of pale sunlight pass through a gradient of cerulean blue. The wide-open space seems almost eerie until a humpback whale gently swimming sings his song, and the space fills with wonder, that is until there is a disturbance.
In class, our teacher pulled out a giant transparent globe. She told our class that we would be able to watch everything that is happening on earth through this globe. The first thing my teacher had us look at was a state called California. Mrs. Thomson asked, “Class, can anyone point to me where the ocean may be located on this globe?” We all stood in silence until I decided to raise my hand. “ I believe the ocean is the blue water that is swaying back and forth.” “That is correct B2, said Mrs. Thomson. “ “This water is known as the ocean, and it also consists of many small creatures called fish and salty water.” The entire class found it so fascinating and exciting. After school, my friends and I talked about how we dreamed of going to earth. We said we wanted to go to this so-called Earth and swim in it. We also discussed the dream of playing and watching the sports that are called baseball and basketball. Earth seemed to have so much excitement that sparked my interest. My goal was to be the first Javien ever to walk on the planet Earth, but my dream was a little too big to make it a reality. Living in the City of Java is okay, but I feel like I am missing out on what Earth has to offer, and that is
