I was shocked to hear our plans for the day. Looking at more dogs? It had been less than a week since the last one and the newspaper ads hadn’t given us any options. I ran to my room, took my New York Yankees Baseball Cap off the hook and ran to tell my siblings. They were equally as shocked as I was. The three of us couldn't tell why my Dad, who never wanted a dog in the first place, wanted to go searching for one now. But I had an idea about why.
Though I was elated to hear we were at least trying, I didn’t get my hopes up. The last few times we had looked for a new dog it hadn’t worked out. My Mom's work friend we found a guy selling three dogs. He said we would have first pick at ten in the morning on August 31st.
“Another trip, another

Even though I didn’t have my hopes up, I was still excited to see if my three potential life partners were in that barn. “I thought that he’d at least be prepared for the people coming for dogs today. Everyone had to call in advance.” I contemplated. There wasn’t any sort of prepared look about this guy. How was I supposed to know if this guy even had and puppies left here for us in the first place? But my Mom had always told me not to assume (even though that’s all she did), and for once she was right. “Here they are!” the man said loudly out of the barn. He came out with two, small, adorable chocolate labradors. He set them down to walk around a little, but one just flopped down to sleep. The other did quite the opposite: it ran around, chasing cats and chickens relentlessly trying to catch one until it laid down next to the other one. The sleeping seemed pretty docile, not caring if we pet him of not. The other one however was perky and had several patches for hair missing. “That one some battle scars from picking fights with the other
When Faye started to volunteer at the shelter she decided to make a facebook page so people can adopt the dogs. Another example is that Faye always grooms the puppies and photographs them before she puts them on the facebook page. Therefore, Faye also posts the new dogs available each week for adoption on her facebook page. Every Time Faye volunteers at the shelter, the shelter receives 20 new dogs each week but some dogs still need re-homing. A quote from a worker also from the shelter says “ This takes a lot of heat off the pound for us trying to get these dogs into homes.” A quote from Mr. Oliver says “he appreciates Faye in every good way and wouldn’t let her dream be unpredictable.”
Sometimes in the world of raising dogs for the show circuit events, do not always turn as expected. on April 22, 2007 in Buffalo New York a litter of Sheltie puppies was born. Out of the litter came two perfectly sized pups, one oversized pup and one undersized pup. At the end of six weeks one of the pups with show prospects was sent to a home in Altadena, California. The other correctly sized pup was shipped to a home in Clearwater, Florida. Because the large puppy could not become a show dog, he was sold as a pet. Several people who came to purchase a possible dog for show looked at the small pup but, they all said right away,"she is pretty but she is just too small". However, a young handler said, "I will take a chance on her". Amazingly
Kaitlyn loves her dog Ash so much because he’s her best friend. This was one of the most beautiful mornings she had seen in Centerville Ohio, the sun was shining through she looked outside her window and there were multi colored leaves covering her yard:red, yellow, green, and purple. She could feel a cool and gentle breeze blowing in through her window. She was in a very good mood now especially when she smelled her favorite breakfast coming from downstairs bacon, eggs, grits, waffles, oranges, and fresh squeezed orange juice. After she finished the delicious breakfast her mom prepared for her she decided to take Ash for a walk and along the way saw her friend
On 09/17/16 at 4:28pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian was dispatched to 3271 Medina Ave on dogs’ at large owner known. I arrived at the location and saw two dogs in front of that address. As I was approaching the dogs, dog owner Jami Puryear came out of the house. Ms. Puryear stated that the brown chow belongs to her and the second dog black/brown mix breed is a stray that hangs out in the area. Ms. Puryear placed her dog in the house. With the assistant of Ms. Puryear I was able to capture the second dog and place it in my van. I asked Ms. Puryear if her dog had a current license, Ms. Puryear stated it didn’t. I asked to see Ms. Puryear identification card, Ms. Puryear complied. I issued Ms. Puryear a violation for failure to license
It was September 29, 2014. I was at the Bloomsburg Fair with my parents and my dog. You know how hard it is to hold on too a helium balloon, right? Well, imagine that but with a leash and a 70 pound great dane. It is not the easiest thing to hold on to when you are trying to eat a burger or look at art. But yet, I was stuck holding Ellie, the Great Dane, when she was about my height. But, after I realized that I had a Lemonade in one hand and a burger in the other, but no leash I realized what I had done. My dog was lost at the Bloomsburg Fair!
There was no escape. I have been imprisoned and sentenced to jail for the remaining years of my life. For I had broken the most important law there was; there shall be no hippies. There was only one way I could possibly escape. I had to pick the lock, but what could I open the lock with? I suddenly realized that I had hidden a few objects in my afro.
I. Attention Device-This is Chad before he was thrown away by his family. He was tossed away because there were bigger more aggressive dogs than him so he was useless to his owner. In one of his fights, Chad was bitten in the ear. After being tossed out by his owner his ear got badly infected. Chad was lucky. The neighbor knew what was going on in Chad’s owner’s house and called animal control. When animal control arrived, they took Chad along with the other dogs to the shelter. After spending some time in the shelter, Chad was adopted by his new loving parents. His new parents took him to the vet and got his infected ear taken care of. According to his new parents he has “a phobia of men and a big fear of strangers.” Chad has slowly improved and Chad taught his new parents a lot while giving his love back to them. This is Chad now
My dog’s name was Aspen after the beautiful mountain in Colorado my parents had their wedding on. She was a boxer, with a mix of light brown and dark brown fur. Aspen is one of the easiest dogs to train. Also, she loved everybody. She defiantly wasn't the cutest dog you will fine but, I believe that she has this soul inside of her that no other living organism had. She had a connection to me. When I was sad or hurt, she immediately knew something was wrong and came over to cheer me up. It would always work. Sometimes I thought she was a type of medicine. She was more than just an ordinary dog. Her and I went through some of the happiest and saddest times. She loved playing, my
Carol Bailey had always wanted a dog. Every year she asked her dad if their family could finally get a dog. He had always refused, describing the pain that you go through when they inevitably pass away. When she was in eighth grade, after years of asking, her father finally caved in. The Baileys decided to get a golden retriever from a breeder in town. They went together and picked out a dog to buy. Before the dog was old enough to be picked up by the Baileys, it died from an unknown cause. The breeder apologized and allowed them to choose another from the same litter. With their playful puppy Andy finally at home, Carol could not be happier. She spent hours each day playing with him, walking him, and even trying to teach tricks to him, although
Imagine being on the streets, no home, no love, that’s what Faye Carrey is trying to stop. She want all dogs to have a home. Faye Carrey finds dogs and/or puppies important so what does she do to help them out? Faye spends her days caring for dogs she either brings them home or she takes them to an animal shelter and helps them out there. “We're just quite lucky and blessed to have Faye," says Mr Oliver. Faye managed to re-home, to find a new owner and home, more than 60
I didn’t think that anything was wrong. So, once again I was wrong. I got in the car and asked him why he looked so depressed. He gave me a certain look, and I immediately knew what was wrong. It seemed as in an instant I broke into a screaming tear. No, my dog is not dead, well yet anyway.
Just hours after I filled out my application, I received an email. There were two rescue hedgehogs that were being looked at the next day, and after they were looked at, I could make my appointment to adopt my own. I couldn’t help but smile because I could get my hedgehog within days! All I had to do was wait until the next day to make my appointment, but for me, it seemed like forever. Filled with
When I received a phone call from my next door neighbor asking me to babysit, I didn’t quite know what I was getting myself into by promptly agreeing to this seemingly easy task. As I waited at the Riley’s doorstep on this cool, summer night, I was reassuring my excited nerves when all of a sudden, this relaxed atmosphere was abruptly interrupted with a loud scream. Mr. Riley opened the door and out poured two small children, a large dog that nearly knocked me off my feet, and a much smaller dog that didn’t seem to know how to quit barking. The children, William and Elizabeth were just three and six years old at this time, and let me tell you; they did not want their parents to leave. As the Riley’s made their getaway to the car, William screamed and cried with desperation for his parents.
One Saturday morning I woke up and didn’t feel right, I was much shorter than usual. I went to my sister’s room to look in a mirror. When I went in I was shocked to see what had happened. I had turned into a dog! How had this happened, when, and why me?
When I was six I really, really wanted a dog. I dreamt of adorable, white, fluffy, female dog that would follow me to school and let me dress her up. So every waking moment I would say to my parents things like, “We need something to protect the house when we are gone, we should get a dog,” or, “We need something that will play outside with us, let’s get a dog,” or, “My friend has a dog so we should get a dog.” Soon enough my parents went to the pet store and bought a dog for our family of five, soon to be six. At the time, my older sister, younger brother and I were at my grandma’s home so we were unaware of the surprise we would receive when we got home.
