As I was about to walk in the barber shop, I suddenly remembered what my Lieutenant had to say to me, “don’t go in the shop, he’ll kill you, he’s a rebel”. While these interpretations have a chance of being valid, I continue to believe that killing isn’t an easy task due to the repercussions that come along with it. When I entered the barber shop, I could see an individual who was tall and was carrying a muscular build. At this point of time, the barber had not yet noticed me, so I took a few steps and made sure I was visible in his peripheral vision. Eventually, I was noticed and a few seconds later, conversation was initiated on how my beard is four days late a shave. After several minutes of discussion, I was indeed ready for my face to become hairless. He sat me down in his
After coming home from a long tour in Alaska with her band Rosie and the Screamers, Flores wanted to quit music altogether, despite her growing success. “They broke me; I didn’t like the men I was working with; they treated me so poorly, stuff I don’t wish to talk about.” Although she could not imagine trying to find a new path, the burnout was insurmountable, so she came back to LA and worked in a kitchen making sandwiches. The act of doing something different helped her to refocus. Apparently, her new job didn’t last very long; within two months, she wound up answering an ad for a bass player in the Screaming Sirens. “I just liked the idea where I didn’t have to sing. I didn’t have to play the same songs I was playing and that I can be in
I am grateful for Bella. We both play this game called, township, and she often help me on there. She either give me supplies I requested, or help both of us earn reward in competition. She is also able to makes the game playing experience more enjoyable. In addition, one time, I have only until 15 minutes until my challenge is over. However, I cannot produce the product needed within the timeframe. Bella was there to make a last minute “delivery”.
Coronado had the weirdest dream the last night his dream was aboutfinding the 7 cities
Interviewing someone you know may be a more easier with than someone you do not know. In this case, I interviewed my friend Matthew Guerrero. He is a sophomore here at Washburn. Matthew's background is different than mine because he is Hispanic and grew up with his married parents and his one brother. That differs from my background because I grew up with divorced parents going back and forth between the two every weekend. I also grew up a bit different because there is a total of eight kids in my family. I chose to interview Matthew because even though we both have two very different life's we are very similar. I think it is interesting how we had complete opposite lives growing up but we both are almost boy-girl version of each other and
I believe in isonomy because there are innocent people getting murdered and nobody is doing anything unless they are of significance or a certain colour of skin. I’m talking about the “Man” who doesn’t look down on light skins but treats darker skins like they should be accused of everything even though they did not do anything.
I am Carlos Peru. I was born and raised in Anthony, New Mexico. Everything I’ve ever gotten was due to my hard work. My whole life I was never given anything and this lifestyle grew me to be the person I am today and also the things I like today. I wouldn’t take any of it back. Given I didn’t like every day I still wouldn’t trade it for anything. These things made my major life choices such as my major, my favorite books, and movies and such things like that. My major is neuroscience and I found this love through a friend of my fathers. He is an accomplished anesthesiologist and one day I got to see a surgery love and I loved what the surgeons and doctor got to do and I loved it. From that point on and even to this day I continue to pursue
Once upon a time I time I was working as a maid. I fell on hard times and jobs weren’t as fruitful. Needing some quick cash I decided to hustle some money cleaning houses with a local company. Lucky for me it was in a very wealthy area so that meant bigger houses and bigger tips. I was making a killing; I even had a side hustle cleaning some houses on the side. Things picked up when I met my real side hustle, Mr. Torres.
After a long walk down we finally reached the place where the Amontillado lied in wait. The tiresome journey would all be worth it for a taste of such a rare find—during carnival of all times! My dear friend directed me deeper into the crypt which was difficult to see in with the dim light that emanated from the torch he gave me. He mentioned the name of that fool Luchresi again, Ha! He does not deserve a taste of this rarity- he cannot tell Amontillado from Sherry. I continued to walk forward until I felt my fingertips brush against the damp, cold wall. Confused, I seem to have reached the end of the room. Since I was a bit disoriented from my earlier drinking I assumed I might have walked right passed the Amontillado. Suddenly, I felt
Next, I am going to talk about the things I do. Participating in basketball, soccer, and track takes up a lot of my free time. Currently I am debating to quit basketball, I think about it because it’s just not fun anymore. Messing around with my friends and playing a pickup like game is what is fun to me about basketball. Last year, 8th grade, I did cross country because the soccer team was finally sanctioned. This meant that 8th graders weren't allowed to play unless we petitioned up. Emma, Rachel, Laura, Ruby, and I decided to join cross country as something to do. Cross country was something that, for the most part, I enjoyed. Although I enjoyed it I quit to play join the soccer team. This past year in soccer has made me want to quit soccer
“Please mi Amor, call me Christian or Daddy as you expressed earlier. Nothing is wrong I just want to watch you when I first enter you”
Having a twin makes it harder for me to understand who I am. Everyone tells us how we need to find ourselves and the individual person that we are. But it is inevitable trying to escape from the label of “ The Palacios Twins,” when constantly every aspect between us two is compared as they expect us to look and act exactly alike. There is no person that I have spent more time with. I don’t think I’ve been away from her for longer than a week since we were born. She is the only person who truly understands me. She has always been there to suffer along side me. Being a twin provided me a lot of laughs and strong support. What will I do without her!? I do not know nor want to imagine it. The question has crossed my mind numerous of
My favorite sport is softball but I also play basketball and volleyball too. I started t-ball when I was very young and I’ve played pitching machine and softball almost every year after that. My softball team is amazing and I love them lots. Most of them go to Sandcreek, some of them go to Taylorview, and I’m the only one that goes to Rocky Mountain. I love it that I’m the only one that goes to my school because I don’t see them often so when I do see them it makes me super happy to see them and talk to them. I also play basketball too. Basketball is super fun but way more complicated than softball. I also didn’t start basketball at a really young age as softball. I started basketball when I was in 5th grade and I do love basketball but I’m not as good at it as softball. I started volleyball this year by making the Rocky Mountain volleyball team. I’ve learned so much about playing volleyball and it’s been so fun that I might like volleyball more than basketball, just
Screams, now hard to define that from a warm flesh from that of a cold metal, fills the vacancy of the pale, grey sky. The sound of bullets rushing through the air sears an edge of my agonizing consciousness. I recognize, from the mound I stand, the town evolving into a caldron with a fire underneath. The heavy iron body never heats up directly. Gradually, it becomes warm; gradually, it becomes boiling; and gradually, it fetters the one, rushing to escape from a suffocating heat, inside its thick mass filled with the inescapable doom. From the chaos, which I refuse to believe, I see the caldron of reality.
