Lorena and I used to have the same class back in high School which was environmental class. We became good friends so she would always tell me that she didn't liked her body because she was fat. We graduated and we lost communication until I found her on snapchat. We started talking again and one day she told me to go with her to the gym. We attend the same gym the one in Irving mall, Fitness Connection, but we didn't know that until we talked through snapchat. I liked the idea of having a gym buddy and I knew we were going to have fun, but I also wanted to help Lorena with her small issue of wanting to lose weight. I honestly think she looks good but she wanted to lose a little bit of weight so I decided to be with her on this small journey.
Part II – Identification and Application of the concepts/skills

We when shopping for running shoes, bras etc. We decided to go to the gym at least 5 days a week. We both collaborated and came up with our routine the first day. We did our best brainstorming and came up with 7 different exercise. We started by running for 15minutes, then we did the stairs, Bicycle, squats, reverse lunge, squat jumps and high knees. We began with 10 minutes in every exercise. One week passed and we were going strong. We were bonding and losing weight at the same time it was so much fun. I praised her when she was doing the squat jumps because that was her weakness since day one. She's got better very quick. After our workout we went to Jamba Juice to get some delicious smoothies and I empathically listened to her talk about how hard it was for her to lose weight and to have a gym partner who would committee to it, and help her
In all honesty, I felt as though I was betraying my old workout group. Eventually, I confided in a few friends. The responses received, although well meaning, were quite negative. Along the lines of...Oh, you will do great...even though you don't look like so and so, comparing my body to other instructors.
The second sibling was born January twenty-third of 1988. 28 years later, he has graduated from high school, attempted college, and is married. Currently and still resides in El Paso, Tx with his family too. As he and his wife, moved out of their households to live with one another, as he and wife moved back in with our parents. They moved in not only because of financial reasons, but because our mom is doing well and is getting weaker. He has advanced himself, due to the fact that he started at an entry level position at his work and is not the head manager. As higher authorities have been sending him to major conferences in a couple of states around Texas. However, he has been really engaged with our mom, as I believe he still resides in
To become an athletic trainer, one must complete courses such as Human Anatomy and Physiology as well as other courses that pertain to this major. These classes will help in learning how the body functions. I will also have to pass the Board of Certification exam and must be CAATE certified I could also volunteer at sporting events to get to know the environment around the players, coaches, and spectators from a non-athlete point of view. This could prove helpful because an athletic trainer will constantly be around sporting events and usually close to spectators, coaches, and players alike.
For as long as I can remember I’ve been involved in athletics. Now as a senior in high school, I take part in 2 varsity sports and synchronized swimming. This has led to some injuries because I don’t have an off season. Since my sophomore year I have struggled with my knees, having Patella Tendinitis, Osgood Schlatters, a long list of other problems that have been difficult to diagnose. Some would argue I should have quit athletics all together, but if I had done so I would have not met our school trainer, Bethany. Bethany has
As a little girl, I was the child who would never let go of my parents. If anyone ever glanced over at me they would catch me either wrapping my whole body around my Mom's legs or begging my Dad to pick me up and hold me. Even worse, if any adults dare took the chance to come over and talk to me I would hide my face, thinking they couldn’t see me so I would never have to talk to anyone. I was shy. Simple as that, talking to people was something I feared the most.
Children should participate in sports because they will gain incredible social skills such as working cooperatively with others by interacting with kids their age other people besides family. When a child starts spending time with other adults such as coaches rather than their parents, there will be an increase in social skills which will help the child later in life. Learning social skills at such a young age is great because as the child becomes older they will have many opportunities to perfect their social skills. Most employers look for people with great social skills so being able to perfect social skills during an entire childhood would help the child gain employment in the future. The more children who play sports and gain these social
Growing up an athlete I had always been in above average shape. I was a healthy weight with toned muscles but, like most teenagers, I was eating garbage. I loved cheeseburgers and ice-cream and everything in between. For years I was telling myself this diet was ok due to the fact that I worked out. It wasn't until my sophomore year when I stated wondering how great I could be if I ate correctly. I decided to get a food tracker app and count calories. I was going to stick to a strict eating plan making sure I was only eating 1200 calories a day and eliminating snacking all together.
I am not a very talented person, but I always try my hardest in everything that I do. Ever since the day that I was 10 I have loved being involved in the sport of Gymnastics. I don't know what I would do or who I would be if this sport would have never come into my life. This sport has taught me so many life lessons that have made me a better person. One of the things it has taught me is always trying my best, I have never been one to learn something quickly and be perfect at it but I will always try. Another thing that it has taught me is to never give up, when doing gymnastics you always have times where you just want to quit because you can't do something but in the end all you have to do is trust in God and never give up. In the last
I love to run. Running in the confines of a track really isn’t true running but the fact that you are racing another person who is putting their soul into a fifty second race to be declared a winner or a loser is exhilarating. For those few seconds every running on the track is linked to a common purpose, and that is to win. For many people there is no other way to feel accomplished than to place first and only first. As if they must win or their hours of dedication and work have gone to waste within the time it takes to complete one short rep of some workout. But I am different.
I also use a fitness band, I have the garmin vivosmart. I am not aware if I can log my food and water with my fitness band but it is something I am going to look into. I have used the application My Fitness Pal and I ran into some issues with that application. I would log in my food daily and also add my exercise. For example it allow me to eat thirteen hundred calories a day, when I would add my exercise to the application it would add calories I could eat. My initial goal would be thirteen hundred calories and now it has jumped up to fifteen hundred. This causes an issue because if my goal is to lose weight then I do not want to eat more calories. I need to have a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. Is this something that your
The beginning of my sixth grade year is when I experienced my phase of embarrassment. To begin, my gym class was after lunch, so immediately after lunch we transferred to gym class. Mr. Dees, our teacher, announced that we were going to have a free day, in which, my face held a smile as wide as a Cheshire cat. Initially, the boys would play basketball while the girls would pretend to be cheerleaders. This particular day, the girls pretended to have cheerleading tryouts in which the boys would be the judges. One by one each girl took turns showcasing the skills which included cartwheels, toe touches, splits, and cheer chants. Everyone did exceptional on the tryout skills, except me. When it was my turn I completed everything smoothly except
It all started on June 2014, I was uncomfortable in my own skin. I was underweight and was always out of breath. I ran like a turtle. At that time, I weighed only 115 pounds. I wanted to make a change for the better, wanting a better lifestyle. So I decided to sign up for the gym. That day changed my life forever. The gym made me fit, healthier, but most importantly it made me a better person which is who I am today.
I finish later than I expected because I did extra cardio. Running is my favorite part about working out. I always run on the same treadmill just because I know it’s clean. Not a lot of people use them at my gym surprisingly. At times like this I wish I had a car. I really didn't want to walk home, but there is no other way of transportation. I could call Alex to pick me up and take me home but she's sick. I could also take the bus, but I've never taken the bus so I don't know how it works. I suck it up and start walking. This was the longest 4 miles of my life. I thought about running, but I had my backpack, gym bag, and my heavy water bottle.
I hate people who “love” working out. I hate them because they are liars. Not a single soul can honestly tell me that they enjoy getting their heart rate up uncomfortably high or inflicting pain on themselves in the form of sweat and soreness. Maybe they like that it makes them skinny or it will make them feel less guilty about eating that jelly filled donut later. I am at war with working out.
I will never forget the day my parents told me and my sister that we were having
