“Like my Dad says; we’re similar right triangles.” “I don’t remember that one,” Leo said. “Similar right triangles have angles, which are equal. The Americans and British treat the Irish in the same bigoted manner that they treat the Jews, blacks, and natives. The difference is that the Irish can hide behind their skin. Similar right triangles have the same angles, but they encompass different areas.” “I guess we did have weird conversations with our dads,” Leo said. “Did you turn your dad onto any music?” “Porcupine.” “How did he like it?” I asked. “He said it was good.” “I like their ‘Fear of a Blank Planet,’” I said. “It is a good CD.” Leo said, “Is the usual group coming?” “My Mom invited a new couple. They moved into the corner house.”
The Irish were considered White in 19th century America, but they were considered inferior to the native born Americans. In Document A. the cartoon showed the Irish being labeled as white, but were equal to blacks. So the Irish and blacks were distinguished as having an equal social status. So they were both victims of racism. Then in Document B. it was said “Things which Roman Catholics priests and all true Roman Catholics hate”. All Irish were Roman Catholics, and in the 19th century all Roman Catholics were white. Showing that once again the Irish were white but were discriminated because of their religion. Their religion was discriminated against because it wasn’t the same as the native born American’s. The native born Americans were Protestants.

What stood out to me the most in these chapters was the part about the twins. This stood out to me because I am a twin and can’t imagine living life without my sister. The fact that they chose the twin to kill based off of which one weighed less is so very sad. Towards the end of the book we finally are told what it means to be release. What happens is they person is given a shot that kills them. Jona has to see this in a painful way when his dad does it to one of the twins. The book didn’t end the way I thought it would. I was a little disappointed, but it wasn’t the worst of endings. Jona and Gabriel escape with the help of the Giver. They take a bike and travel up a huge hill for days. When they are about ready to give up they get to the
When I was extended seven feet above the ground, I knew we had succeeded. My two bases were in front of me and my backspot was behind me. I heard the familiar counts of my backspot “one, two, three, four”, I bounced and pushed myself up into my bases waiting hands, “five, six, seven, eight”, I straightened as my bases lifted me up to chest level. I locked my knees and stayed tight. I put on a smile and looked ahead. I felt my backspot release her hold on my ankles. I heard her voice once again, “extension, one, two, three, four”, I brought my hands down to my sides and focused on staying tight as I slowly rose, “five, six, seven, eight. I was all the way up. Then a few moments later I heard the counts as they brought me to chest level then back down to the ground. We had done it, we had hit the stunt and did an extension.
Drakes Hotline Bling video is four minutes and fifty five seconds filled with beautiful women, vibrant colors and witty dance moves. The video starts off in a call center filled with beautiful young women wearing pink t-shirts and fitted blue jeans. They are all on the phone talking to men about random things. The office is plain white and grayish the women add flavor to the scene balancing out the scenes overall intentions. I believe that Drake is trying to show the viewer that all women think alike and want the same thing in a relationship with this first scene. The hotline bling instrumental than starts to play than here comes Drake himself in the next scene. He is shown dancing in a mellow yellow rectangular box wearing a puffy red jacket, gray
As much as people try to avoid it, fact is that no one in this world is born equal; there is always something unique that sets one different from another. It is those differences that require us, as Barbara Jordon says, “to accept people who are different that ourselves.” Jordan emphasizes the importance of tolerance and how it helps us develop into better societies and people. During the 1930’s, different races in the United States were being discriminated against their skin tone and placed on separate levels. In more modern times, people were still being criticized for having different ideas and while acting upon them. Even all the way in Iraq, discrimination is presented once again towards Jews and their independent country. Anything contrasting oneself will never be the same as he or she would like, creating a necessity to tolerate. Barbara Jordan's quote helps reveal that tolerance is essential to avoid conflict, to unite with others, and to change for the better.
I wondered what I could be in life when I have a twin that looks like me and acts like me. When I was younger; everyone always considered Mariah and I as the same person. I tried to prove them wrong by doing different things. I experienced a rough childhood with a single parent that raised us by herself. My mother was working all the time at her job at the nursing home being the admission while we came along because no one could watch us. As I began to grow older I found an interest in being around nursing. When I turned sixteen, I began my first job at my mother's nursing home and I am still there for over two years. However, after those two years, I realized I was not close enough in helping people so I started CNA classes through my high
I am a statistic. I am the 1 in 285 Americans that has an identical twin. Although these are merely numbers, they mean a lot more than that to me. It means I have a twin sister, Chloe, who has the same DNA as I do and looks exactly like me (or so I’m told). Our unique situation has led to a unique relationship.

Through the use of this comparison, Paine is able to show how Europe is similar to a monster, whose cruelty has chased people away from their home country. Through this phrase, Paine is able to convey his argument of how people escaped from Europe because of the unjust treatment and shouldn’t have to put up with it in America. Paine’s use of metaphors as a persuasive element helps make it an effective piece of propaganda since it uses comparisons to convince readers that separation would be a progressive step forward for America.
