Six Things You Should Know About Me I was born in the 2000’s but I’m a complete 90’s kid. I grew up watching 90’s shows and listening to 90’s rap. I grew up listening to only rappers like Nas, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Ice Cube, and also the rest of the rappers from N.W.A. I grew up watching people like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock on tv. Growing up listening to 90’s rap music made me have a big appreciation for the lyrics in a song more than a beat. In 90’s rap the beat is always pretty miniscule and unelaborate. Most of today's rap has terrible or not understandable lyrics and just has a good beat. I’m a big music fanatic. Like I said I have a huge appreciation for the lyrics in a song more than anything else. As a result I like to break down the lyrics and bring a meaning to them. I’d say I more appreciate it as a type of poetry than a rap. For example there’s a verse from a rapper I thought was really clever and it was only 8 words. It goes, “cons of a conscience, perks of a percocet.” In finding this I had already heard the song many times and only just realized that verse. Thats why i like it so much, each …show more content…
I have gone on “vacation” to few different places. Most weren’t really vacations just 2 day trips. Out of those trips the most interesting was my trip to Las Vegas. On the trip it was the my second time on a plane but only the first time i actually remember. The trip was for a large family reunion. At a restaurant there I got to eat crab and shrimp for the first time, which then became my two favorite foods. The only other massively interesting trip was to Indianapolis, There we went to a children's museum. It was cool because on the outside of the building a “dinosaur” was breaking through the building, then at the entrance there was a giant Bumblebee, from the ‘Transformers’. Then there was an amazing glass blowing section which housed the base of a giant pillar of blown glass that reached the ceiling of the
There was very many trials and events during this time, so much so I could write a book so this is really only the tip of the tip of the iceburg.
Most of the time, the meaning behind an artists lyrics are the reasoning for the creation of the song. A message or a story is what’s most commonly used in a song. Modern day rap, however, is lacking in this department. Drugs, money, and women are now the new wave of rap music. In connection with powerful bass lines rappers such as Lil Pump, Lil Xans, XXXTENTACION, and probably some other short people, rap these things to attempt at expression but fail for misunderstanding. Rappers such as Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, and Big Sean are capable to vocally express themselves in a way that most people can understand. Other rappers who can’t see beyond their earthly desires are the ones who lack in the meaning in their music and maybe even in their
Though many people don’t realize it. rap music is the modern day poetry in present day society. Just like romanticism in the 1770’s,
What do I feel you should know about me? I think as myself as a well-rounded student all together. I think you should know that I enjoy English much better than math, and a large percent of my other classes. Sometimes, it takes me a moment or two to understand a new lesson. At other times, I catch on fast. It just depends on if I can wrap my head around the concept we are learning. When it comes to writing papers I tend to get writer’s block quite often; however, when I think of something to write, I try to stick with it and add more and more to that subject. Occasionally I procrastinate homework (don’t we all), but I try to stay on top of things. I do make sure to get all of my homework in on time.
I live in Chicago but I belong to New York. Ever since I moved to Chicago at the beginning of my freshman year, I’ve always wanted to revisit New York. I still talk to my friends back at home and enlighten them about my school and life in Chicago. Although I want to revisit New York, I’m also beginning to welcome and appreciate my new life in Chicago.
There is a lot to learn about me, but here are just a view things. First, I live at home with both of my parents and I have two younger sisters. I also have a three year old dog named Ella. She is a pointer beagle mix. Most of my time I spend outside of school and on weekends dancing. I am on a competitive dance team at Vibe Dance Center. One of my other hobbies is playing the piano. This year will be tenth year playing the piano. My parents love to travel so I have been to the majority of the states in the US. I have also been to Mexico and Canada. This year for spring break we are going to Costa Rica. When we are there we will spend have of it in the jungle and the other have in the mountains. That is all there is to know about
A majority of people I have spoken to despise running; the activity inducing a great deal of pain and wasting time are common reasons I hear. For me however, running has always been a part of my identity and it shaped me as the person I am today. Whether it comes to intense races or exciting games of tag, I feel a part of me glistens with joy whenever I put on my running shoes and get my feet moving. My interest from running goes all the way back from elementary school.
“The strengths for me are adaptability, restoration, individualization, empathy, and relator. Adaptability is easy for me because I don’t like confrontation. I try to just go with whatever as long as it doesn’t threaten my children or myself. Growing up I just learned to avoid bad situations. If an environment is good I deal with it. If a situation is bad I deal with that as well. Restoration is what I’m dealing with now. I need to work on restoration for myself. I do seem to have good advice for others but I lack that in some parts of my life. I need restoration with my finances. So I plan on reading books on financial planning. I have always just wanted to spend money and not save my plan is to educate myself and restore my financial situation.” (Clifton, 2006)
I really had trouble finding a topic that I thought would inspire readers or keep their attention. I reviewed the information from unit one several times before picking my topic. The topic that I chose was a scary situation for me that took place this year and felt that readers needed to know how these types of incidents can happen and how often they happen around the world. I felt like my story alone could not make the paper requirements and may need to revise several areas where I stated outside information even though I felt it to be very important information and relevant to my personal story. As I was writing my story I felt like I did a good job and had a successful paper, until I reviewed unit three’s lecture and lecture review, where
This summer was pretty interesting and a tad bit boring. I sort of learned a little bit more about myself and how I could deal with things. Some things got a little rough along the way but that’s life for you. Everyone hits that rough patch in life at one time and point.
I just need to look around me to guess that most people, if not all of them, suffer through some sort of identity crisis, whether it is psychological, social, sexual, or another. But that knowledge doesn’t really help me answer that deceptively simple question: “How would you describe yourself?” Probably the most honest answer I have for you today is some long version of “I don’t know.” I am trying to find some answers to that question, though, and that’s something pretty new for me.
One time I learned something about myself was when I was in California with my family. When I was about 15 years old, I was boogie boarding with my sister. While I was doing this a big wave came in and it pushed me under and I got separated from my family and my sister. I didn’t realize that I got separated from them until I decided to get out. Being separated from your family can be a stressful event but after that I learned many things about myself and how I should react in a situation like that one.
Some people are very ahead with their knowledge, as in, they know what to do already; they know what their future will hold for them if they follow a certain type of path. But... What happens if there’s a certain person who isn’t as ahead as she’s supposed to be even though she wants to be recognized? Well, that certain person is me, Keishlayari Melendez. My one adjective that would describe me the most is being introverted. I got used to staying at home and be quiet most of the time. I like the way I am right now than how I was before.
As a kid, I can vividly remember sitting in the back of my family’s mini-van, singing along to, and loving all the early 2000’s radio hits. I’ve always had a love for music, and an appreciation for the different creative ways instruments and lyrics came together. Once I got my first iPod, I pretty much just listened to whatever my older brother was in to, and at the time, this was rock. He introduced me to all the 70’s and 80’s classics I would need to know, and I began to enjoy this genre. As I checked out more and more types of music, I developed an interest in rap specifically, because I liked how the beats sounded and words rhymed. As time has gone on, I have come appreciate the lyricism in rap, as well as the story that can be told
Although millions of people listen to music everyday, many people never take notice of how many genres exist throughout the world. Two genres that take popular notice in the music industry, that may be considered as “opposite sides of the coin”, the genres can easily be compared and contrasted, no matter which compare or contrast side is favored. The Broadway genre, which is notably alongside musical theatrics, or simply theatrics in general, is not only for the sophisticated population in it’s essence, but is even favored by adolescents of all ages. Due to the variety of musicals that have been created throughout the past one hundred years, there is a musical for any type of person, no matter how much or how little they favor the Broadway genre. The rap genre, however, can seem extremely different from most genres of music. Nevertheless, if a person finds an area of the rap genre that comes to their own liking, they may come to the realization that not all of it is the same, which can be true. Typically, rap, which stands for “rhythm and poetry”, has a fast paced, recurring beat, with a vocalist rhythmically speaking patterned lyrics throughout a song. In many popular songs today, rap can take up an entire song, or simply be put in a single verse in another vocalist’s performance. Although the rap genre and Broadway genre are slightly similar in terms of the music production, they are, however, significantly different in the way that they are performed, and the reasons why
