It was a bright hot summer day in Florida, and my family had just arrived for our week long vacation, but we were in for the biggest shock of our unified life. We had never thought that this dreadful thing could happen at such a beautiful place.
Could you ever imagine driving twenty-two hours in a suburban with eight people? Although it was incredibly cramped, and tortuous, I was going to my favorite place… Florida. We were going with our neighbors, who I grew up with, traveled with, and basically did everything with. Our moms had decided to do a last minute trip to Florida and planned everything out the night before. We always did vacations on spring break, but this vacation my mom told me by surprise, at seven A.M.
Personal Narrative When I was about 10 years old my family and I took a vacation to Florida to see my great aunt Linda. It was a 14 hour drive down to Florida which is a long time in the car. We were going down there for a week. For the first two days we went to Sea World in Orlando, Florida. I was very excited to see my great aunt because I have never met her before. I knew that I was going to have fun on this trip.
I first encountered the ocean in 1958; I was ten. Being a map enthusiast, I knew exactly where Florida was, and I was excited to swim in the salty Atlantic Ocean. Born and raised next to frigid Lake Michigan I understood a large body of water as well as a sandy beach, but no book or encyclopedia prepared me for understanding the flavor or immensity of an ocean and its adjoining shore. Arriving at the beach I raced across the hot pure white sand to keep my feet from burning, stopping in wonder when I saw ocean waves gently caressing a seashore that seemed to go on and on forever. I knew I was somewhere special.
Hello readers, So my first two weeks at Florida Southern have been exhausting to say the least. One does not really know how flipped their sleep schedule is until they have to wake up early to drive to 8 am classes every other day. The bright side to these days, however,
From childhood to now, going to Florida has played an important part in my relationships, culture, and personality. I think that the trips to Florida started when my little brother was born. Having to take care of two toddlers and an infant and work full time was hard on my parents so, my aunt offered to take me and my sister home with her for a while. Being in Florida was slightly unnerving because my sister and I were alone. We sneaked into each other's beds, comforted one another, and told lame jokes to get rid of homesickness. Eventually, when my little brother was old enough and he joined in on the fun. The three of us had the best times in Florida. We ate foods like Haitian pate, diri ak djon djon, pikliz, fried plantains and other Haitian
"Stop asking questions!" my mom had told my brothers for about the one hundredth time. We were in our family minivan on our way to Florida. My mom and step dad would not tell my younger brothers where they had planned for us to go. I could see Bailey and Lucas Jr.'s ( We call him LJ) frustration and boredom as we passed the "Leaving Louisiana" sign. Though I knew we were going to Florida, I didn't know exactly where or why. My mom, Tonia, sat in the passenger seat; the entire ride all I saw was the back of her reddish-brown hair. I could see Lucas', my step dad, light hazel eyes in the rearview mirror hanging in the middle of the roof. The two youngest, Bailey and LJ, sat in the middle seats, and Timothy, my other brother, and I sat in the
The best week you can ask for One day we meet our cousins from Colombia off of Facebook. My mom was so excited when we found them because they have known each other since they were young. We started talking for a a few months and finally my mom asked them if they wanted to come to the USA and visit us. My mom said she wanted to meet up in Florida, so we started to plan. I was very nervous when she said we were going to Florida, I didn't want to speak Spanish to them because I was afraid they will make fun of me (really not that fluent in Spanish). After we were done planing our vacation a months later we were ready to go to Florida. When we left for Florida we dropped off my dog (Simba) at my friends and said our goodbyes to Gurnee. The road trip took hours to complete and it was treacherous, but worth it.
My love for the great state of Florida began when the first time I heard the name. I was in the first grade at Far West Elementary in California. It was just like any other ordinary elementary school day. Until when my principle walked in into my classroom and she introduce a transfer student named Tim. She had asked Tim a few questions, one of the questions was, where did he move from? Tim answered, with a big smile on his face Florida. Everyone in the class got really quite, and looked at him in amazement. That’s when my best friend Bryant started to explain to us, that’s where Mickey Mouse is at Disney World. All the way through my elementary school years, I had a fascination with the state of Florida. That’s when I told myself I’m going
The summer between my seventh and eighth grade year was certainly one of the most eventful summers that I have ever had. I traveled through the states on the west coast. Okay so “traveling through the states” it a little bit of a stretch from what actually happened. I did go through a lot of states on the west coast but we only drove through them to get to where we were actually going. During this summer went on two trips with my family and one with my school. The first trip that I went on was with my family and it was to Coco Beach which is in Florida, this beach is on the west coast of Florida while I live on the east coast of Florida. The next trip that I went on was also with family but this time we went to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to go
One day in Florida, the sun is shining two 9 years old kids were playing in the park where they found a dead body.
The first time I went to Saint Augustine, transpired in the fifth grade, for a field trip, we rode charter buses there and back, which ensued the first time I had been on a charter bus. My mother, planned to be a chaperone on the field trip, however, she just had my baby sister and could not come, nonetheless making it the first significant field trip that I went to without her. It remained incredibly cold outside when we arrived, nonetheless we all had a pleasurable time. First, we went on a tour through the oldest city in Florida’s downtown area, there we started the tour all the historical buildings and learn the history of them. First, we visited the school, a little one room shack that had held the students that were permitted to attend.
Last year, the year of 2016 I went to Miami Florida. We have family up there, who also fish. So he took me and my dad lots of places. From the ocean to canals to alligator infested ponds. We caught many types of exotic fish. Not only that but I saw many kind, and interesting people and exotic plants and animals. The experience was remarkable. Everything was so pretty, from the mornings and all day to night time. So me and my dad had a great fishing experience. We caught so many fish we never would've thought to catch before. And then one day I went out to a canal to catch tarpon on the shorelines, there were dolphins and manatees all over the place. Everyone hooked into the game fish, the tarpon except for me. I hooked into lots of other fish
r 2017 “My favorite holiday” Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. I love seeing the shinny Christmas lights that decorates my street and the sound of fresh fallen snow on the ground. Christmas reminds me of family, the laughter and loved we shared, and the gifts we gave to each other. My house on Christmas became the center of my joy.
I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can
