Personal Narrative: Suge Knight's War

On January 22, 2017 at Lower Macungie Community Center gym two Lower Macungie Youth Association (LMYA) were playing against each other. They were playing basketball. No team was getting demolished.

In the San Juan heat of 1984, coaching legend Bobby Knight became infamous for his assault on a Puerto Rican security guard over a practice time during the Olympic preliminaries (Biography 2). Headlines of one of the most famous college basketball coaches of all time haven’t come to an end since. The veteran coach from the state of Ohio has since thrown a chair across a gym floor, been video taped choking a player, and assaulted school employees and fellow students on the campus of Indiana. He has been in heated arguments with anyone from school presidents to the media after heart breaking losses. Bobby Knight, longtime Indiana men’s head basketball coach, was recently fired. This firing sparked a controversy among basketball fans throughout the nation; did he deserve to be fired? I believe that Bobby Knight deserved to be fired. Although coach Knight is one of the best coaches in the nation and has earned the respect of countless numbers of fans including myself, I do not believe that a coach should be able to act the way he acted and get away with it. Coach Knight’s record for abusing players, abusing the media, and being a jerk should speak for itself and there is no doubt in my mind that Bobby Knights firing can be justified.

Tonight, the Atlanta Falcons will take on the Miami Dolphins in the third preseason game of the year. It has become an NFL tradition to designate the third preseason game as a dress rehearsal for the starting players. So tonight, expect the Dolphins and Falcons starters to play for at least the first half.

2016 was the year that the craziest free agency signing happened in NBA history. Kevin Durant decided to join the Golden State Warriors. This is the team that had just broke the record for most wins in a season and after that season they add the second-best player in the NBA. His decision to sign with them put a huge target on his back, because a lot of NBA fans including myself considered the move weak. Some fans even said that it was the same thing LeBron did in 2010; leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign with the Miami Heat. There are a few things that are similar between the two, but I completely disagree with the people who think that it’s the same. Kevin Durant signing with the Warriors is worse than LeBron signing with the Heat.

For my report, I chose to summarize how Brian Helgeland’s movie “A Knight’s Tale” (2001) draws its medieval themes and story from Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales: The Knight’s Tale”. Robert stated he was at work & it was very hard to hear him in the background. I inquired to Robert Knight about the details of the card transactions & him making bail that day. For a majority of people in the world, if they were to wake up with 350 million dollars, and would be able to be fully retired by 38 years old, then they would be very content and happy with their lives.
