The leaves were brown and the weather was cold, but not unbearably cold. The morning had just started and the sun was barely out. I was eight years old at the time and it was Thanksgiving Day, and on top of the various assortment of food, my family and I had relatives coming to our house to partake in this Thanksgiving feast. My mother had gotten numerous amounts of groceries from the store throughout the week, including potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, mix for stuffing, a humongous ham, and to top it if we had the staple for every Thanksgiving, a turkey. I could already smell the scent of a honey baked ham in the oven as I got out of bed and started my day in the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, then proceeded to the kitchen where I saw my mom involved with the seasoning of the turkey, along with other various goods for Thanksgiving on the counter. We shared our usual morning talks, with an added “Happy Thanksgiving” then I continued to the living room where my little sister, and step father were already watching the Thanksgiving parade. I wasn’t as interested in that kind …show more content…
As usual the relatives were happy to see my family and I, and after seeing everybody and hanging around inside for a little bit. My grandmother stayed inside with my mother too cook, and the rest of us transitioned into my backyard where I had another enjoyable experience. There was a rope in my backyard, and this rope was a modern day iPhone. I would swing on this rope for countless hours day after day having the time of my life. This time it was different however, because I had my relatives there, and they would push me on it propelling me even further up making the experience of swinging on this rope even more enjoyable. Out of all the moments that day this is the one that I can remember the most
The crisp, cool, and cinnamon air filled the morning of Thanksgiving in 1987. Although I was only two years and eleven months old, I remember the scratchy, fuzzy, purple- footed pajamas that I was wearing that morning. After I woke up, I "helped" my mom make her famous orange- cranberry relish, got dressed in my cream sweater dotted with cherries and my navy pleated skirt, topped off with my favorite cream fuzz- warn tights, and before I knew it we were out the door to my grandmother's house. After an early dinner with my grandparents, mom, and dad, my grandfather and dad left to catch the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day football game, leaving the rest of us to find entertainment of our own.
Heavenly smells in the air, footballs on T.V, family is gathered around, and a comfortable homey feel of my grandmother’s house makes Thanksgiving one of my favorite meals of the year. I will always have memories of thanksgiving at my grandmothers. The smell that rushes your nose as you walk in to the house. So many mouthwatering smells go through the air at my grandmother’s thanksgiving. Her Thanksgiving dinner never fails to fulfill my expectations. With the whole family gathered and the dinner table full of delicious food, I can’t help but feel content.
It was the day after my sister's Quinceanera, and all my family was here. They were leaving back to their homes Monday morning, so keep in mind it is Sunday. All of our parents were talking outside and saw that us kids didn’t really have anything to do, so they decide to take us to a river that was 5 minutes away from my aunt's ranch. We packed up all our food and stuff and went right away.
When we went to Lubbock to go visit are the family, we has to stay at my grandmas house and it was cold in their house because they didn't have their heater on we told them to put it on but they never listen to us. So we all just wrapped ourselves in blankets. We celebrated Christmas with my dad's side of the family for the day. We eat ham and other sides that they made with it and we opened gifts, all I got was some clothes. The next day we celebrated with my mom's side of the family. We ate tacos, beans, and chips and after that we opened presents and we played bingo. Then the next day we went back home, back it was time to go back.
Thanksgiving Memoir I was waiting in the car my mom was driving. I saw my brother sleeping so I could not play with him so I went back to sleep. My mom was calling” Ben Ben Ben!” I woke up, I was very drowsy It was time to get out of the car. My mom and dad were still waiting for my brother to get out of the car so I just waited. For 5 minutes I stood waiting for my brother to wake up.When my brother finally woke up feeling sleepy we headed to the front door and stepped over the threshold to see my relatives.
Thanksgiving is a time for family, food and reminiscing about all the good times. At the Fitzgerald household only two things matter most. Food and Monopoly. We've played the painstakingly long game every year since I was seven, and I would always lose. Naturally, when my uncle busted out the game, I was ready to back out and save the small dignity that I still had.
My siblings and I raced out the front door. Our grandma, Mimi, was finally here! The weather was just beginning to cool off. The trees outside rustled in the crisp breeze. I love Thanksgiving. Family together, cool weather, and the scent of pumpkin spice filling rooms.
After all a truly intelligent mind could be playing video games or running around endlessly with your cousins playing your own football games and other sports. I followed this train of thought for many Thanksgivings, until the point when I realized that I did not have an inextinguishable amount of energy any more, and that I could not be part of that much physical activity without feeling as old as my father the next morning. So after weighing these problems, I realized that the men in my immediate family and I should really consider spending time with family members we do not see on a regular basis. I have never been particularly close with any one in my extended relation, so I figured what better way strengthen my relationship with my family than to share in this excellent tradition. (Stock)
My week was going great, Thanksgiving was only a few days away. I planned to go to the grocery store later this evening. I didn't think twice about going to the store at night since Trevor was locked away. I could finally let my hair down and enjoy myself. I was happy as a pig in cool mud. I had a chance to talk to Mark this morning while Shay went out and got us some breakfast. Now Johaly and I were on the way to do some furniture shopping. Most of the stores were having Black Friday sales earlier this year for some reason.
The whole 405 crew was meeting up with some guys from Texas. Everyone decided to bring something to eat as it was thanksgiving. Everybody brought their families and the cooking began. While they waited for the meal to be done they raced. Things got a little bit heated in the races but it was all okay.
It’s the season of fall, almost winter. The leaves turn into a mix of all types of orange colors and the change of decor your mom brings to the house to advocate the time of Thanksgiving or the foods you’ve been waiting all year round to just smash your face into. That’s what I think of when Thanksgiving comes to mind! Out of all the holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve, ETC; my favorite one of all would be Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time where the problems you had with your cousins, fights with your parents, and even the disconnection between your other family members, when it’s Thanksgiving day though, all those problems are left at the door step.
As we enter the holiday season, I want to extend Happy Thanksgiving greetings to my family and friends!! All of us, whether or not we realize it, have so much to be thankful for. I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity I have been given to pursue a PhD. I have been working hard at achieving this goal for what seems like a lifetime (but, in all actuality, it’s only been three and a half years). Lol The journey, however, has not been without bumps and bruises; but, all in all, it has been extremely rewarding and, with your continued love and support, I am certain I will make it through this program. Therefore, I guess you can say that I have been richly blessed this Thanksgiving. More importantly, I would like to give thanks
Thanksgiving is a week away that's about the only thing on my mind, my dad's mind, my mom's mind, everyone’s mind. Plus my dad just got back home from doing five years in prison, so yea it was something to look forward to, sitting at the table as a complete family again. Anyway we had just picked my dad up from work, that night we ate steak and potatoes, my favorite! It was a school night I had just gotten my school clothes ready and was headed to take my shower. I stopped in my parent’s room, because I saw my dad up getting dressed to go out that night. We talked for a minute or two then he told me goodnight he'll be back, so I continued to do what I was doing. I really had no idea this would be the last time I saw my dad. Around 7 a.m. the
Not so thankful for what happened on thanksgiving. On Thursday, November 26, 2015 my mom suggested that I invite some friends over. My mom just wanted to meet the guys that I was intending to go black friday shopping with later that evening I assumed. Thanksgiving morning, I had asked my friends Ceejay ,Alex, and Collin to come over on Thanksgiving. They arrived and my mom had introduced herself to them and was joking around with them.
First off around noon i started making a pumpkin swirl cheesecake. It made the kitchen smell delicious. Once it was finished it looked so pretty, with all of the orange and white swirls. Next i had to prepare stuffing, Mom said “ You need to add lots of sage!”. So I put in a whole lot of sage. I don’t much care for making stuffing because the onions because it makes my eyes water like crazy! The homemade stuffing always goes great with turkey.
