What thoughts have I tonight as I walk emptied handed and no one to be arm in arm with as I navigate the LA streets. I envy the young man wiping out on his skateboard. Look at the concern on the young woman’s eyes. She looks on with a frown. Still, he makes her laugh with his imitation of the Zombie’s walk. How much happiness is contained in the rivulets of his blood that hardens along the shin of his wounded kneecap? What thoughts have I tonight, walking the LA streets that are east of LAX. There is the homeless man with his Macy’s shopping bag. He looks at me as if he’s worried that I might steal his bag. He curls his back as he hunches over and turns to look at me over his right shoulder. How evil I must look to threaten him so much as
As Greg blew into his saxophone, the sad song wafted out into the auditorium. He began to remember his past, his parents dying, him becoming homeless and finding a saxophone on the street and learning how to play it without no help, people throwing money in the bucket when Greg’s playing the saxophone. Thanking the man who heard him playing the instrument on the street and made him an artist, and making him the man he is today, the life he never expected. Going through all the incidents he went through his life, the bad times of him sleeping on the streets, no food, begging on the streets playing the saxophone. Greg is 45 today, it is Greg’s last concert and his birthday, he is dressed up in a black suit with a red tie, his bald head shining
The girl was in her Senior year of high school. She knew how to keep herself safe now. Her peers would look upon her as overly protective due to never letting any of her friends walk home alone at night. Her brother would let out exasperated sighs as she would be the last person after practice or volunteering, making sure all of the girls were picked up by their parents. She almost never went anywhere alone. After having two drunk college students scream profanities at her when she ignored their advances, she never went to grocery stores at night. After having a homeless man try to touch her when recycling cans, she never did the chore without the presence of a friend or sibling. She carried a rape whistle to school, after hearing about a
The score was tied 2:2, and the clock was winding down like a time bomb. I had the ball. I dribbled it past the halfway line on the left side of the field, and saw my teammate who I will call Bob on the other side of the field. Bob was slower than a turtle, and he would not have the speed necessary to beat the defense, so instead of passing to him, I booted the ball as hard as I could, towards the opposing goal. The ball curved towards the right, and hit the top left corner of the net. I had scored!
If there has been some obstacle or bump in the road in your academic or personal life, please explain the circumstances.
In my life, I have always felt that I was different from other people, that I was meant for a Greater purpose. During the summer of my freshman year, I got a indication of that. Something unexpected happened and it hit me like a freight truck. The mere thought of it made my knees weak,my heart race and my mind scramble. Growing up, I always had fears but the presence of this phenomenon would Make the other fears look like fantasies. For the first and only time, I faced homelessness.
Once upon a time there was a wizard that disguised himself as a homeless man. After he disguised himself, he would beg from house to house, and lied to each house saying that he needed money or food. Inside every house he went to there was beautiful girls. He would capture every single one of the girls, and take them away somewhere that no one knew, even none of the girls ever returned. One day, he came to the door of the man who everyone knew had three gorgeous daughters. Before he went to knock on the door, he made sure he looked truly poor, weaker, and he also carried magical pack basket on his back as it looked like he wanted to collect some kindhearted offerings in it.
As I walked out of the airport into new territory, I could immediately feel the change in atmosphere. The air once chilled from morning dew, had turned into radiating heat from the cement and metal structures in the evening sun. As I looked out in my jeans and tee-shirt, I felt out of place. I was surrounded by the 8.55 million people who populate New York City. Each person with their own style and demeanour. As I walked down streets in search of the correct subway stop with my church group, everyone could tell that we were tourists. We were lugging our impossibly heavy suitcases through the streets, down the unforgiving stairs, and onto the crowded subway. After walking up and down what felt like hundreds of steps and changed subway trains
I want to be remembered as someone special. I want everyone to remember who I was. I want to be an actress, so I would like to have the legacy like most hollywood stars have, but not the infamous kind. I want to be remembered as someone who helped others. I don’t want to be the person who goes and spends their money just on fancy cars, or houses. I want to take what I have, and use it to help others.

It was one summer a man was eating lasagna in a restaurant that was closed it was a week from now his birthday. Let me tell you a little story about this man who is in this restaurant eating he is homeless, and he has been ever since he was 6 years old. His parents raised him very well it was one day when their child was 6 years old the parents kept getting threats and blackmails over the days, weeks, and months! Well they eventually stopped...
What's the nicest thing you have done for someone? This is about the time I bought a homeless man food.
The time span this book occurred in is from July 2006 to April 2007 in Charleston, South Carolina. Portraying as a homeless man, Shepard starts off in Crisis Ministries, a homeless shelter that would have “the resources necessary to get him [me] back on his [my] feet,” (Chapter 1, page 9) which was a great kick-starter for his project. Shepard would move into an attic of one of his boss's, George, friend, Mickey, because it was the “best all-around deal that he [I] was going to find,” (Chapter 11, page 137) and because he wanted to leave Crisis Ministries, due to Shepard accepting that the Crisis Ministries was unacceptable to consider to stay in. Afterward, Shepard bought an apartment with his co-worker, Derrick's, cousin, Bubble Gum,
One situation that I remember was when I personally saw a man, sweating and walking around in the heat, had passed my family and I will we were pulling out of our driveway. The man was obviously thirsty so as he was walking away I yelled for him to come over and I had given him to cold water bottles that were mine. He also said if I had any food and I actually had a small load of bread that I was eating, so I gave it to him. I told him that I was sorry I had nothing else to eat, but he humbly said thank you either a big smile on his face.
Halo smiled, "I think you are like me, all you know is hard times and it's hard to imagine anything else. Even when I was happy with my boyfriend, I still had all the sorrows of my home life. After I found Mom dead, it was like I was free, but the sad stuff doesn't go away. I feel like I have all this tension built up in me and there is no way to get it out."
“Sit down! Do not stand on furniture” “Stop running through the house” these are just a couple of things you’ll hear when you step into my house. My family isn’t what you’d call normal at all; we are a very facetious. You can’t say I didn’t warn you, so take a jacket and join the crew.
