Honestly, I have had a pretty easy life. I have a house that I feel safe in, there is always food on the table, and my parents spoil me with unnecessary things. I cannot pinpoint many times in my life where I have faced adversity, but when I do face hardships, they affect me a great deal. Currently, my neighbors are moving away, and for a long time, I struggled with this realization. I am able to accept my neighbors’ move by the help of my family and God.
Because I have grown to love the Huffman family over the course of ten years, their move will be especially difficult for me. I cannot think of a time where their family has not been there for me and my family. In the past year, the Huffmans have prayed and decided that God has a different
Everyone has struggles. Many teenagers struggle with self-esteem, stress, bullying, body image, drinking, and smoking. Many adults struggle with marriage, jobs, money, drinking, smoking, health problems, and stress. There is not one person that has an easy life with no struggles because it is impossible. Having struggles teaches us life lessons.
Around 1982, the most terrifying, yet beautiful situation happened in the Allred family. The divorce of my father’s parents, Bobby Gene Allred and Debra Dixon Allred, split one family into two. Later in 1997, Bobby Lynn Allred and Gana Janelle Beesinger were married. This beautiful ceremony took three families and combined them all into a chaotic masterpiece. Most people get the privilege of two family get togethers, but I get that advantage plus one. For me, food, fellowship, and memories is what makes life jump for joy.
My family the Heintzelman family has lore that has come from our ancestry in Germany. Ancestry is a very important part of a person. Knowing who came before you can affect a person greatly. If someone knows the hard work that their ancestors did it can lead to a lot more humility for that person. No person gets to where they are in life without the hard work of the people that came before them, especially in America. Almost no one is a native of American which makes it a melting pot for all cultures, which means knowing your history is important. The hard work of my ancestors I feel is extremely important due to the story that surrounds the last name of Heintzelman. The story of the Heinzelmännchen, which originated in Cologne, Germany, was a legend about elves who would do the chores of the lazy townspeople. Every night when the townspeople went to sleep the Heinzelmännchens would come up to do that work that the townspeople had neglected to do (Kopisch and Thrlet). This was a myth that was started many years ago in Cologne but is still remembered today. The story of the Heinzelmännchens is commemorated in statues that stand in Cologne and through my last name. The story of the Heinzelmännchen has been passed down from generation to generation in my family, as the beginning of our last name and heritage. However, this is not the only way that lore is passed down, we have also passed down our history through our names, as many Heintzelmans have been named after
One of the substance abuse interventions I recently led, resulted in a very public miraculous healing. I was contacted by the McCracken family early in 2015 to lead a last chance intervention for their son Jeff. Jeff McCracken was barely alive when we got him to treatment. Once he arrived at the facility we had in place, they immediately sent Jeff to the hospital. His medical condition was dire, he was given two months to live and sent to Hospice. In Hospice, Jeff’s parents requested our team to pray over him. Within days of that event, Jeff had an incredible turn around and was released from Hospice and entered a program. I sponsored Jeff throughout the recovery process. God has utterly transformed his life. Dubbed a modern day “Lazarus,”
Hardships can influence a person's way of living negatively or positively, just depending on your perception of things. The ability to value your life and the people surrounding you is not taught by any teacher, but learned through the daily obstacles one usually goes through.
Personal Statement For as far back as I can remember I have always had a positive outlook on life. As a child, I was not fully aware of the troubles and hardships people faced. I always assumed that the people around me were, for the most part, content with their lives. It was not until my freshman year of high school when one of my closest friends disclosed to me that she did not want to live anymore, that this image I had of the world was challenged.
Comfortably nestled right at the intersection of Highway 79 and Interstate 45 is an easily passed over town, with just four stop lights, named Buffalo. To the thousands that mindlessly drive through every day, it may not seem like much, but between those four stoplights and down the countless backroads, is where I have learned many lessons, had many laughs, and ultimately become the person that I am today. The people of Buffalo, as well as my family are the reason I have been able to grow and excel and become successful throughout High School.
It seems, even in a world of turmoil, that we get so busy living our lives and the day to day events that we start to take for granted our situations, lifestyles and the many comforts we enjoy. Even though each day has its struggles, my life is good. I grew up in a relatively secluded and peaceful area, in a country I feel very blessed to be part of.
America is like a family for while we squabble on the inside we come together to defeat the threats on the outside. We are now more deeply divided than we have ever been. For some people, it seems as if America will never come back to being united and that we are destined to be driven more and more apart.
Overall, I have had a decent life, I grew up going to church and being taught from an early age rights and wrongs. My parent taught me to be kind, respectful and fair to people. I feel that I am who I am based on the experiences that occurred throughout my life, thus forming me into who I am today. And even though I have had some hardships throughout my life I know that it gets better and that I should strive toward my goals of becoming the best
We started the day off with some lunch and moved over to the Kinney Center for karate and yoga. Jake was a little hesitant to transition to the other building but once we got him in the classroom we were able to start with some of our yoga poses. Jake did a great job playing group game with his peers. The first group game was similar to musical chairs where there is music playing and whenever the music stops everyone would have to stop on a yoga mat and do the designated pose. After that game, we played another game where everyone needed to form a circle and hold hands while maneuvering a hula hoop around the circle without breaking contact. After those two games, we had snack time where Jake got to play a game on
Being a member of the Williams family, I feel the need to carry on that name with honor and dignity. Throughout my life, I was always pushed to become someone hungry for a successful future. I remember a time towards the end of my sophomore year of high school, when I was speaking with my father about my interests and what I had in mind of becoming when I was older. After getting over the goal of becoming a professional football athlete, I told him that I was thinking about being some sort of engineer as I am very strong in math. His response was nothing short of disappointment. As an electrical engineer himself, he said something like “son, engineers don’t get paid sh*t. You are better off going into business where there are endless opportunities.”
Life isn't worth living if you are not willing to accept the challenges thrown your way. How I grew up wasn't easy. It, instead, was rousing from being adopted out of China, learning a new culture, to facing some hindrance. Nevertheless, I couldn't have done this on my own. With the help of God all things are possible.
I was surprised by a variety of things in the documentary. The two things that surprised me the most was the amazing work done by the father in creating the chairs for the girls along with the attitude of the Miller twins. I was astounded to see what the chairs were capable of. I could not believe they could operate in snowy conditions and even in overgrown, grassy areas. The way the Miller parents were able to make things accessible for the twins was intriguing. Seeing their home full of ramps and other accessible things for the girls showed how committed the parents were to giving their children every opportunity that other kids have. In addition to the creation of the chairs and the adaptations done to the house, the attitude of the Miller
In life everyone will face some form of hardship. Some people may not go through as many hardships as some others might but we all still have our own personal problems. In my life I have not faced many hardships like some others have which I am very grateful for such things not happening to me. But even though I haven't gone through many hardships I have still had my own fair share of personal hardships. One such hardship I have gone through twice is overcoming the death of a loved one.
