As soon as the iPad came on, a variety of alerts prompt my attention. He had logged on his Facebook, Snapchat, and Messenger, using my technology before he disappeared. I knew exactly the neighborhood, and friends’ he was with, because he inbox a girl asking for money and food. I could not believe he was living a scavenger life. I immediately jump in my car with my flyers to find my son. First I proceeded to the local police district. Then the former area we resided. As I drove down the block, I instantly saw him. He proceeded to my vehicle like nothing ever happened. He was hungry and dirty. I ask him why did he runaway, we did not have any disagreements. He could not answer the questions. He said he did not know, but he was glad that I found

Who Wears the Pants? : Power and Gender in The Taming of the Shrew Petruchio and Kate are both integral parts of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Characterization of these characters not only helps to develop the plot, it also aids in showcasing the dynamics between men and women in Elizabethan society. Petruchio’s tendency to be controlling, and expecting Kate to be controlling are both staple qualities of his character. Kate, on the other hand is not compliant with the expectations of women at the time.
I hide in his car laying down in the back seat. I hear his footsteps coming and then the key in the drivers door. He opens it and some light from the street lamps flood in but he still doesn't see me. Once he sits down I take the metal wire in my hands, holding it at each end, and wrap it around his neck. I pull tight so that he can't bring his head forward, its stuck against the headrest.
It was the first time I was going to drive. My dad stopped on the gravel and said,”Drive to the house.” I hopped into the driver's seat and tried moving the gear shift. “Um, dad it's not moving,” I said. He responded with,”Son you have to put your foot on the break to move the gear shift.” I set my foot on the break the threw the gear shift into drive. I stepped on the gas pedal and the car took off. The whole way to the house it was like a stop and go sort of thing. I was really scared to hit the gas pedal because I was afraid it was going to go way too fast. Also, The car was so touchy! Every time I would give it a little gas the car would rev up its engine. As the car went down the hill I had my foot on break the whole time. Every time I
When you think of Austin, Texas, you think of music, food, and the Capitol. There’s the infamous 6th street, all the barbecue you could ever dream of, and being inside the Capitol is, in fact, incredibly beautiful.

Since elementary school I have exhibited a talent for writing. What started out as mere ten page stories about cats hunting mice or Greek Gods turning people into blob fish expanded into publishing a four hundred page long summer camp murder mystery as an eBook with my friend Henry in eighth grade. Over the years I have become more passionate about my writing, and over the years my grammar and writing style have grown tremendously. Looking back at the book I helped write in eighth grade I can’t help but cringe at the mistakes we missed and dull language we used. If I had written the eBook at the level I am now it would have been much longer, extremely detailed, and correct grammar wise. I realize the story could be leagues better, so I’m currently
It's been 8 days since the last sighting of my son but being the father I am I can't give up after all my son was trained to survive of the bare minimum of resources I'm still not sure what happened but I've been hearing and seeing strange things a couple miles back I thought I heard something like laughing but it came from all directions and all I saw for miles was red and orange sand
George Orwell’s work Animal Farm portrays human society and its blemishes. Although Orwell wrote the book to expose Communist Russia and its flawed ideology, the fairy story depicts the world and society as a whole. While the tale details the self-indulgence and greed that political leaders -- most commonly tyrants and dictators -- exploit, it also features inspirational figures and teachings. It describes the effects of propaganda and the danger of ignorance and naiveté. Animal Farm is a novel with a lesson about society and its dangers; it represents the cycle of revolutions, often started with noble intentions, and its consequences.
Have you ever lost something that you cherish? Something that you would use daily, hourly, or even by the minute? Would you be panicked, nervous, maybe even scared? That is how I felt when it was 2015 when we had to relinquish California to go to Wisconsin for my dad’s job. It was almost across the country, adding to the fact that we were going by car, so it became a 3 day trip.
The outside of my mask represents what I show or represent the world. The blue on my mask represent my calm and relaxed thoughts. Several people have told me that I seem relaxed all the time. Also, the blue represents positive thoughts, since I seem to be always positive outside. The eyes are closed also because I looked relaxed and calmed. The zipper symbolizes how I am introverted and shy. I would not talk unless you talk to me. My archetype is the caregiver, I do love taking care of other people more than me. These are the personas I show the world.
I met a kid in my grade, Kenny, he lived one house over from me. We became friends and hung out all the time. We’d ride the school bus home after school and then play in my backyard, usually football or knocking the black walnuts out of the trees and pegging each other with them. Normal boy stuff. He was at my house all the time, after school, overnights, first thing in the morning on Saturdays. For my 13th birthday, my uncle gave me a green iPod, it was an awesome present and in my favorite color; I had been begging my parents for one. A few months later, my iPod went missing. My mother and I tore apart my bedroom, at first we were sure I had lost it in my mess of a room. I was so upset, it was one of my favorite things in the world, filled with music and games that gave me a little escape from my parents and crazy brother. Pretty soon, I realized we were probably not going to find it. It wasn’t there, and I never took it out of the house. A few days later, I found out from a different buddy in our neighborhood that Kenny stole the iPod from my house, from my closet! I was so mad, but really I felt totally let down by Kenny. And of course, he had started avoiding me. I just couldn’t trust him again, he was obviously ashamed; so we started going our separate ways. That next summer Kenny disappeared from our neighborhood and I haven’t seen or heard of him
Phillip became really scared. He panicked and did the first thing that came to mind, which was call the cops. The dispatcher immediately sent out a call to the officers, three cars showed up in my driveway with lights and sirens on. Only my father was home though. He had no idea what was going on when he first saw the lights, he became scared. The first words out of their mouths were, “Is your daughter here? Is your daughter okay?”. My father had no idea how to respond, he was confused. The officer repeated the questions, and my father was able to stutter out the words that I was fine. The officer asked him again if I was home, but my father had to respond that I was not home. The next question was the officer asking my father where I was. I was on the east side of Birmingham at a football game with the band, which clearly implied that I was okay. The officer got onto his radio and got in touch with the Student Resource Officer, Guppy, at the game. He immediately came looking for me, but he could only find one of the band directors. So, he had to tell him what was going on so they could pull me out of the stands. Brandon, one of the band directors, found my mother. Brandon had to explain everything to her about what was going on and why Guppy was looking for me. I saw her almost fall to the ground, she immediately started to cry. At which point, I knew something was going on, and it wasn’t not
The world exists to be explored. I moved to the United States in the April of 2015, finally getting the opportunity to explore the world. I was born and raised in India, and after living in the same city for over fifteen years, I was itching to travel, experiment, and explore. While feeling completely intimidated by the sheer size of the country, moving here was liberating, in a way. I could meet more people, eat different food, and visit new places.
