“The Orange Coaster”
If you’ve ever been to Hersheypark, you may have noticed an arched, 200 feet high, orange structure hanging up in the sky with the clouds. Well, that “structure” is a roller coaster and is commonly known as “Fahrenheit.” Let’s begin, I was at Hersheypark with my family. This event happened around 2014, in the summer. It was a warm, sunny, slightly brisk day. Just enough breeze so that I wasn’t cooked alive. This story starts off with my family and I driving to Hersheypark. After about an hour, we arrived there. We skipped with joy up to the ticket line. At that exact time, I had several chills going up my spine. Because, I all of my family was going on the death-trap, but I couldn’t stay behind.(I really wanted to stay behind)
We submitted our tickets and headed towards the most terrifying- edge- of- your- seat- roller coaster...Fahrenheit. This was the ultimate fear ride for me. Reason being, at that time I was scared of super tall roller coasters like that. My mom, brother, and I walked up to the line.

I could smell the cotton candy aroma that roamed the entire park. I could hear the sound of teenage girls smacking tasteful, , pink, bubble gum. That’s not all, when the line moved forward, I would take a step, thinking,”How much longer until I can get this over with?” I could hear all of the chit-chatter;conversations flowing through the air. Oh, and the smell of the buttery, tasteful, freshly popped popcorn was outstanding. It was smelled so savory if I would’ve been able to eat it, trust me, I would. Before I could get any more spare time to complain before I was on the ride, I was doomed. I was next. That was bad
One summer day in July , Me and my friend Carol went to an amusement park called Cedar Point . Cedar Point is located in Sandusky , Ohio and two and a half hours away . My mom and me wanted to go on a ride called the Maverick . The Maverick is Cedar Point’s steepest roller coaster and its speed is 70 miles per hour . The Maverick also has a 95 degree drop ! Then we went in line and waited for about an hour and a half . It was about eleven o'clock when we got close to the front of the line . When we finally got to the roller coaster I regretted going on because it was very dark and I couldn't see where the drop was and I don’t like steep roller coasters . Because of that me and Carol where panicking the whole way up . As soon as we got to the
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once added “What you are afraid to do, is a clear indication of the next thing you need to do.” As we were pulling into the parking lot of Hersheypark, I looked up and saw a gigantic coaster, the tallest upside down coaster in the whole entire park. Before we took our trip we did research on the best rides at the park, Fahrenheit was one of the tallest coasters with a 97 degree drop and 60 mph during the ride. I was only 10 at the time and I had never gone on an upside down roller coaster before. As we were entering the park, the rollercoaster was to the left of the entrance. I was hoping we would be able to go to the other side first so I could avoid the coaster for a little while. Just my luck, we turned to the left,
“Come on, guys,” I yelled at my family, which consists of my mom Madonna, my father John, and my two sisters Alissa and Kara, as I ran frantically across the jam-packed parking lot to the opening gate that led to a world of adventure. As wide as the world around, my eyes pierced at the doorway to a world of fun. Families, of all sizes, were enjoying all the possibilities of fun. Hearing laughter and frightening screams, warned me of the experience waiting for me within the doorway to everlasting amazement. The sweet baked smell of funnel cakes swarmed into the fresh morning air. Before I knew it, my family and I were ready to enter Valleyfair, an amusement park that offers summertime fun to the maximum.
I am a piece of clay, just as every person is. We are not just any kind of clay, though, we’re that special molding clay that never dries out. Because of this, we are constantly molded by almost everyone and everything surrounding our lives. At the beginning of life, we are molded by the hands of loving parents, but once we leave that safe-place, we are on our own. At that point, we can be tossed, slammed, poked at, and sometimes even ripped apart. One important event in my life that molded me and has helped make me the person I am today was my first roller coaster ride. Amusement rides don’t usually change a person’s life, but the first time I went on a roller coaster, I found myself stepping off the ride as an entirely different person. Most people conquer their fear of heights or fast-moving vehicles on thrill rides, but instead, I conquered the one thing most people are terrified to face. Something that’s more horrific than monsters and demons, and that is yourself. For me, the ride was more of a journey than anything. From the beginning to the end, I learned a
The summers of 2013, I went to Cedar Point. It was me, my brother, my mom, dad, and my dad’s friend. My dad said, “we are going to get on all of us the roller coasters” and the rest of us said “ok.”
Then my brother, both my sisters, and parents got out of the car, and the first item I saw was advertising for the park. The advertising said “Hollywood Studios” and had a picture of a rollercoaster, and all I felt was butterflies in my stomach. The next day we woke up in the early morning to get ready so that we could arrive when the park opened. When we arrived, I could see all the rides and an enormous crowd of people swarming around trying to find the shortest line to enter the park the fastest. My sister grabbed me hastily and said “Come on, Alex, let's go get on The Rock N Roller coaster.” My parents walked with us, but they didn't ride the roller coaster, so my sister and I were the only ones from our family. As we waited in line, I felt mixed feelings shoot through my body. Then my turn came, and I slowly entered the blue seat of the ride and buckled up tightly, making sure nothing at all could get loose. On a screen the ride counted down, six, five, four, three,
Imagine if you are on a roller coaster that is going at least 100 mph, do you think that would be fun or scary? Well I think it would be scary because I was on that roller coaster and I got really scared. Before that all happened we were on the road to Des Moines to adventure land, to go on roller coasters and other rides. I rode in the car with my Mom Rachel, My Aunt Stephanie, My cousin Tru, and my little brother Elliott. Then we finale got to our hotel that we were staying at for the night, then we were going home the next day. So we all got our stuff in our room and then luckily our hotel was right across the street from adventure land, so that means no more driving and now we have to walk a long ways. So we walk
As my sister Beth and I raced to get our tickets for the Hudsonville Fair, I saw the ride that we were heading to. It was the largest one there and I couldn’t wait to go on it. It was called Freak Out and I knew it was about to be my favorite one. After we received our yellow wristbands, we ran to get in line. As we approached, we saw there was no one else waiting. We ran through the vacant waiting area and went up the steps. After the man allowed us on, we waited a bit for other people to possibly join. I sat in my seat, hoping that no one else would come so it could just be us. Thankfully, no one did and the ride began. I swayed my legs in anticipation and finally, the ride began. As the momentum built up, I began to feel butterflies in
Not only did our house burn down but this is the last time I can remember my
My parents agreed and we walked towards to the roller coaster, the walk was long and terrifying as I tried to make excuses to not ride this nightmare of a ride. Ten minutes later we arrived, and sadly, I had to ride it because I was to young to be left alone. We sat in line for about five minutes before reaching the front. I optimistically thought that I would be to short, so as I walked up and was asked to stand text to the measuring tool, I started to get excited thinking I would be safe, but sadly I was just tall enough. “Lucky you” I heard from the employee as I was walking over to the car, if only he
It was a hot summer day, and I was eight years old. I went to Cedar Point for the first time. I remember the first coaster I ever rode was the Raptor. It was thrilling and I was a little scared on it, but after I got off, I felt like I was superior. I rode many more roller coasters, then we see the Top Thrill Dragster. The track was a bent oval and had a vertical rise and drop. It is very intimidating and I remember seeing an older lady praying before the ride took off. My aunt, uncle, and mom asked if I wanted to go on it with them, and I was a little hesitant. They told me it is okay if I’m scared, but I did not want to admit it. I had to make the decision quick and agreed to go on it. I was very nervous and my stomach started to hurt out of nowhere. About two hours later of waiting in line, it was our turn to get on. I got on a cart with my mom and my heart was beating like a crazed man banging on a door. I had fear mixed with excitement, but I was determined to ride the Top Thrill Dragster. After everyone was buckled in, the speakers in the platform started playing drag racing car
The ground looked up at me menacingly. After an agonizing 2 minutes, we reached the curve at the top of the hill. As we rounded the bend, I glimpsed the drop ahead. The butterflies drummed twice as hard now. Then, the end of the curve was upon me, and we stopped! “What happened? Is something wrong?” All of the sudden, the brakes gave way. A yell tore itself from my lungs as we flew down the hill. My hands gripped the armrests like there was no tomorrow. But then, after the initial drop, excitement flared through me. “This is the best rollercoaster ever!” I thought to myself. The coaster took me up, down, and all around. It felt like I was flying, we were going so fast. But, to my despair, all roller coasters end. As we pulled up to the dismount station, I thought to myself, “I’m never going to forget this!”
My hands were sweating like a waterfall. My knuckles were white from how hard I was holding on to the handle. We kept going up and up, until the ride stopped for a second. The next few seconds were terrifying. I was screaming at the top of my lungs. There were loops after loops, but then I stopped screaming. The ride was still going but I wasn’t screaming. I was enjoying the ride. The last loop came around and the ride came to a complete stop. I looked over to my friend and we both just started laughing our heads off. We rode the ride six times in a row! After that, I got on every coaster in the park. I had gotten rid of the fear. Now that I think about it, I remember the the reason I was so scared of roller coasters. When I was seven, my parents and I went to DisneyLand. We went on this huge ride named “Matterhorn bobsleds.” During the ride, these two huge monsters came out and I got really scared. But what I learned is that fear can be tolerated and can be
I said, “No,“ then the slide started. When you first went down the ride it was dark and there were scary turns, then you make a big drop and start to spin, when I was spinning in midair I was so scared. My heart started beating really fast, then I realized that my brother and I weren’t even close to being done with the water slide. Then, the next day I went on a roller coaster
The rides entrance itself made my legs weak with sheer fear. The pathway was like a maze and then the stairs appeared to warn me, by saying turn back now. As I climbed each step I tried numerous times to escape. The escape attempts were foiled by my so called friends blocking the only exit. I said,” Come on guys I can die another day.” Audrey quipped,” Oh come on Taylor, man up and go on the ride.” Now I can’t really describe the feeling of having a woman tell me to man up. I said,” Ok I got this.” I shrugged off all my anxiety and nerves and just went with it.
