You will never believe what I am about to tell you! I have been a golfer since I was in third grade. I took my first golf lessons at the age of eight, and then I took more lessons at the age of eleven. I have been golfing with my dad numerous times, which led to my love for the sport and my interest in continuing. Golf is special to me because it gives me the opportunity to gain more skills, have more patience and drive, and spend quality time with my dad.
To start, I was introduced to the game of golf at the age of eight by my dad. My dad taught me how to play, and showed me how enjoyable it was. Golfing is a way for me to relieve any stress I may have and makes me feel relaxed. I decided I wanted to try it out and see if it was something, I was interested in. Soon after I decided I wanted to try it out, my

I wanted to get better at my swing and learn as much as possible about golf. I attended “The Classic Golf Club” in Spanaway. A pro golfer, Ryan Moore, taught the class. I learned more about what clubs you want to use when you are on the golf course. Furthermore, I learned how to putt properly, chip, and tee off. After all of the lessons, we competed in a tournament at the PLU golf course. We were paired up with other kids and did group vs group competitions. They gave out prizes for first, second, and third prize winning groups. My group won 1st place and we got the privilege to choose from a table of prizes, and I chose a set of brand new golf balls. From this experience, I learned that golfing is something that can take up quite a bit of time from your day, but the satisfaction of playing the game is worthwhile! We played nine holes, but you can play eighteen if you want to play even longer. The game of golf may take a while to play and finish, but that is why golf is important in my life as it allows me to spend quality time with my dad, and has given me more
Golf is a great sport that helps you improving responsibility, patience and think all the things you are going to do. Also this discipline makes you being honest in the moment of writing your score. It is very popular all over the world, a lot of people played it. By playing golf people tests out his mind, body and make they consider all the shots. I feel admiration for Arnold Palmer because he was one of the greatest players of golf in the history. He also plays the tournaments for benefit or in commemoration of someone. I like too much playing because it distracts me from school and other stressful
I am Matthew Pogoreski, currently studying Professional Golf Management at Ferris State University. I was raised in a small town in Michigan called Hudson. My parents both owned small businesses, so growing up I got to see plenty of the hard work and hospitality that went into owning your own business. Working at my mom’s hotel and dad’s lumber yard at a young age taught me that I wanted to be the boss and work for myself. Hudson had just one 9-hole golf course (which was realistically a cattle ranch). That golf course is where I fell in love with the game of golf despite the fact it was almost always brown in the summer. My mom signed me up for “hook a kid on golf” at age eight and I instantly fell in love and was addicted to trying to hit those perfect shots.
When I first came to Lake Highland in seventh grade my parents wanted me to be on a team to get to know people and the only sport I knew was golf. I came to the tryouts with no experience of tournaments, hammy down clubs from my sister, and not appropriate golf attire. I tried very hard for the team, but I did I didn't have the skills to make it on. It was very devastating for me because I have never been turned down before, but I knew that I had to change. After this failure I decided that I should try harder in golf. I never did take the sport seriously and barely practiced, but after being turned down I decided to step up my game. I started to practice harder and more often by my own choice. I also started to play in tournaments, which I
I believe that golf teaches people life lessons. Golf has life lessons on every tee box, fairway, bunker, green, and hole. Every hole is different golfers must keep their cool in order to perform well consistently. Golfers will have good shots and they have bad shots but like my mom says to me, “Do not let one bad shot affect your entire hole.” Similar to life, golf has ups and downs. In life and golf if the golfer put away what just happened he or she will be back on track to be happy in life or get a good score on the hole. Bobby Jones, a historical golfer said, “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots – but you have to play the ball where it lies.”
Freshman golf ended miserably, but I wasn’t even close to giving up. In Arkansas golf, high school isn’t a big deal like in Football and Basketball. It’s the tournaments held by the Arkansas State golf Association that are most respected. So my golfing year wasn’t really over, it had actually just begun. So I began to practice more, and focus solely on golf. It seemed the harder I practiced, the worse I got. I was trying too hard, and playing badly in tournaments. It was extremely heartbreaking. This was the only think that I had complete confidence in and I couldn’t
Golf is something I have always played. The more I play the game, the more I think about how it relates to life and how everything one does on a golf course can be something that one should be doing in life. I use the lessons that I have learned on the course and I apply them to my life, I feel it has helped me grow and become the man I am today.
Golf enthusiasts come from all different walks of life. The origins of organized golf date back to The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in the United Kingdom (Redmond 410). Golf spread from the U.K. to the U.S. and created one of the greatest rivalries in the history of sports. This rivalry drew international attention, and pretty soon, the rest of the world was joining in to play one of the most captivating sports in the world. A large aspect of golf that draws people to it is that golf is not a team game. It is just the golfer against the world, and that is a big appeal to people. Also, golfers have the choice of putting their personal touch on almost every phase. From the clothes they wear, to the clubs and bags that they use, and even the golf balls they hit, people love adding their own personal touch whenever possible. Naturally, that is going to entice an interesting crowd of characters to the same game.
I was handed a golf club at the age of 9. For me, golfing was something I was raised into. It’s easy to say that my love for golf started back in third grade and just continued to grow. Things are rarely that easy. Learning to love golf for the right reasons was something I finally learned how to do just this last year. It was a long journey but it was worth it.
My mother signed me up for some lessons and that's where it all began. I was excited, doing it for the first few weeks, but then I got exhausted of it and didn’t want to do it anymore. I remembered back to myself of how much I loved playing it and how excited I felt when I made an excellent swing. Eventually, after I picked myself up, my father or mother and I would go out to the driving range every day and hit at least 100, then practice putting and
The golf community is a large one, so large in fact that sometimes its hard to directly point to who actually plays the game of golf. Golf has two sides, a competitive aspect and a social one, yet they are distinctly the same. Most people play golf to socialize, while enjoying a game at the same time. Golf provides an escape from the calamity of everyday life. The great thing about golf is that anyone of any age can play no matter what your skill level. Sometimes golf gets the reputation that only wealthy people play
Golf often makes people think of boring, old men walking around a huge green course. This is not always the case. Many different people have been known to enjoy the game of golf. Where golf came from is bound to surprise some people who think it is just for elderly people. Golf is very interesting to learn about, including: the history, association’s tournaments, women in golf, and famous players.
It’s about noon on a cloudy Saturday and the pressure is beginning to set in. I have just arrived at the Marysville Invitational with my team and we are getting ready to warm up. Looking around I see many familiar faces as we make our way to the driving range. “ Oh, I didn’t know they were playing today.”, mumbles a player from Olentangy Liberty as we walk by. Now that we’re at our spot on the range we take turns hitting in our two available spots, trying to hurry so everyone has time to warm up. As I’m hitting and warming up I hear Coach Mcgrievy pull Molly aside and make some negative comment about how she has been playing bad. Molly really does not need that negativity before she plays. I just finished hitting on the range so I head over to the putting green to make sure I get a chance to practice putting before the green is too crowded. I am immediately greeted by some of my friends that play for Canal Winchester. I start talking with Grace, that I have known since I was about six years old. When I was younger I was involved in a golf program called Morty’s Kids. Grace went to Morty’s Kids summer camp too and there we became friends. Morty’s Kids taught young children the physical aspect of golf as well as proper etiquette. During those summer days was when I learned some of the most valuable lessons that I will never forget. The game of golf can teach many valuable lessons that can be used later in life such as patience,
This pain and this idea golf would never be the same caused me to not even look at a club for two and a half years. Then freshman year of highschool came and so did the possibility of playing golf at the high school level. I picked up my clubs two weeks before school and fell back in love with the game i quit two years ago. I met with Coach Renfroe and soon became apart of the Norman High golf team where I made friends
Each moment I walked and played the course it took me to another world a world with my father, a world where he still smiles at me, looks at me with adoration. We practiced every day afterschool till sunset, by the end of the day we would always end up on the 18th green where the grass was always longer and always greener, it was our hole we both loved it. . It just seemed the more we practiced together the more we laughed the closer we became, this lead to my house being full of trophies. He motivated each and every shot, every competition I would win I would do it for him, just to see him joyful to see him smile at me and feel that love.
Papa Bill taught me how to golf at a young age. When he first started to teach me, we would go to the driving range and hit a few buckets of balls just for some simple lessons. I could get the basics down being an athlete from a young age. Some of the things took me a bit longer to get. Anyone that has seen the movie Happy Gilmore should remember the run up hockey approach that Happy would take during his tee shots. Yep that was me for the first few times
