I was stuck in the 24-hour prison of signing day. I knew I wanted to get myself out there and break out of these introvert chains, but though I enjoyed my first year of French Club, managing it let alone becoming vice president is a responsibility that requires skills I thought I lacked. Raising my hand for the position that day, I dove headfirst into danger, thinking only of how I would regret the decision within the coming months. However, I knew it was for the best since I lived through enough anxiety and social awkwardness already; it was time to stop. McCandless actions are seemed to be motivated from fictional works such as The Call of the Wild, White Fang, “To Build a Fire,” “An Odyssey of the North,” and “The Wit of Porportuk.” From these books, The Call of the Wild by Jack London is his favorite since he idolize the author. Judging from London’s book, McCandless attempts to mimic the life of the main character Buck, a dog who escapes his sheltering world and adapts to the harsh conditions of Canada. The most prominent chapter that depicts the beginning of canine’s journey is Chapter 2, which starts off by displaying his fears and bemusement when confronted with his new home(London 15). America’s gift to my generation is amazing because veterans have used all their potential for us. They fought for us to be alive right now. Their gift to us is much more than I expected. I am so thankful and I appreciate all they have done for us.
As I sat with three microphones tracking the triviality of the voice-cracks and tone breaks of my voice at the DNC’s March 9 Presidential Debate in Miami, I began to reflect upon the past year. Starting with the word “The” I was hit with a sudden rush of nostalgia and recollection. At seventeen running a political action committee (PAC), the conceptualization of what lies ahead more than two years ago was doubtful compared to the reality of that day. In one syllable, a matter of milliseconds, I flashed through my voyage of a life preoccupied with the insignificant to one engrossed by the unthinkable. Through overseeing a PAC, I became an adult in every sense of the word through a commitment to my community, my city, and myself.
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.”
All the women in my family, myself included, love the Rob Reiner film American President (the one where Michael Douglas is the president and falls for Annette Benning) to the point where my mother and two aunts can quote the whole thing without missing a beat. While I’m not quite on their level yet, one quote that I can always jump in on is: “We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them.” I want to be one of those people—a relentless problem solver with new, creative and innovative ideas to make the world around me a more connected place. In this life everyone in the world has opportunities, especially people from United States. In this country everyone is able to find financial help, either from the government or organizations, for education (Scholarships, FAFSA), and for health (Obama care, financial assistance). Sadly, some people are lazy or they just can’t get the help.
Writing is a miracle itself. Believing in miracles can make you a proponent of the second chance in life. Following your dream is life long pursuit of one’s purpose. Sometimes winds of destiny are inflating your sails; sometimes you hit a rough spot in the ocean. The drawbacks are good chance for reflection and readjusting. As a first generation immigrant I had the opportunity to witness myself the land of Opportunities and experience the concept of an American dream first hand. Deciding to come and live in the United States and leaving my whole family behind has been hardiest decision that I have made in my life so far. The doubt that this doubts about that decision has chasing me as a bad dream since the day I have arrived in the United States.
Some people may be confused in what responsibility even means. Does it mean be nice, make good decisions, and do what you're told? I've been taught many responsibilities throughout my life and the most important one is to try my hardest to walk in the light of Jesus. To do this I try to learn from my mistakes, treat others the way I want to be treated. Whenever I get the opportunity I bring God into the subject to try to show every one what a loving and caring father he his no matter how many mistakes you've made. I want people to know that no matter what they do or say to me, I will never deny my beliefs for God I will always shine my light and try to impact as many lives as I can. We are one Nation under God and I believe that's our responsibility to keep it that way.
On October 27, 1858, I was born in New York City. I was very fortunate to be born into a wealthy and well off family, but I was not as lucky with my health. As a young child I was very weak and constantly ill. By the time I was a teenager, I was tired of being of being frail, and began doing gymnastics and weightlifting to build up my strength.
America’s gift to my generation is freedom. Freedom is the right to do what one wants, lives where he/she wants, eat what they want, and choose the religion in which he or she believes in without ignoring or harming other people’s rights. Freedom is an important gift. Freedom allows schools, buildings, and public places to have many types of people; gays, lesbians, Asians, African Americans, girls, and boys. Back when Martin Luther King Jr was alive, their schools were segregated; meaning Caucasian people couldn’t go to school with African Americans. Some of my best friends are not the same race or religion as me. Well I, had the gift of freedom to choose my friends. I have one best friend since the second grade who isn’t the same race or religion
Duties included the following: In the student government I was able to oversee the wealth of the student body, served as a liaison between the students, and the school administration to address student needs and safety, created the student activities and organizations budget, and facilitate activities to incorporate the student body into community service. In my position as Presidential Ambassador I was able to address the incoming freshman on the information needed to be successful at the school, as well as provide Assistance to the school lifelong learning program, which provided the local senior citizens community with weekly events. Lastly as a summer orientation leader I aided incoming student to acquire the necessary tools to be successful
As an international student, it is critical to consider schools which are friendly towards persons who may not share the same culture as the major population of the student body. Having lived and thrived in a culture so different from my own for sometime, I have learned that for the most part, people are a lot welcoming to my culture when I do not try to hide from it but rather, offer my different perceptions and opinions about the questions I am being asked.

The only Political affiliation I process is a registered voter. There are mostly Catholic descendent in our community. We have a large variety of churches that people many choices. On one corner there is a Baptist church. One the other corner there is a Methodist church. On one corner there is an A.M. E. Church. I am a member of a Full Gospel Church in which my husband is the minister. I sing in the church choir and teach Sunday School. My hobbies are limited because of my knee surgery. Before my surgery, my girls, their children and I would play volleyball every Sunday after dinner.
In the story of Animal Farm, the animals on the farm create their own form of government known as Animalism. “These three had elaborated old Major's teachings into a complete system of thought, to which they gave the name of Animalism (Orwell, ).” These principles originally came from their leader Old Major and his teachings of a new way of life where animals ruled themselves. Animalism is a mixture of the beliefs of both socialism and communism, incorporating the views of the two philosophies. In Animal Farm, this society works at its start but eventually begins to weaken and cause tension and anger later on due to the lack of strength and fairness in Animalism (Orwell).
