Hi everyone, I am new here, but wanted to share an idea I have for a ongoing fundraising opportunity. So, I have this app called Walk for a Dog where every mile you walk the company (Wooftrax, Inc) donates 25 cents to your rescue of choice. I know this isn't a dog rescue or shelter, but when I was scrolling through the list of shelters on the app I passed by a raccoon rescue/sanctuary and that made me think maybe AWWS could benefit from this app. I believe to get your rescue/sanctuary on the app you have to sign up on the website on the computer. Just an idea that I wanted to throw out there and see what you all
Each day I would wake up the same way. With a smile on my face and everything in its place. Feeling whole and complete. Suddenly, it's different. Waking up from the night with a gaping hole inside yourself, knowing that life will never be quite the same. That hollow feeling doesn't seem to go away. As you know that the trusted pal you once had laying at the edge of your bed each morning, scruffy and content. Will never be there to greet you ever again. Growing up with a dog, having only known a life with them, comes to a shocking halt when they leave you. Until you can find the strength in the loss.
Ever since I was little, I always wanted a dog. My mother and I realized that we had nothing to do. We decided to look up shelters. 11 years later, I finally convinced my mother to bring me to the animal shelter. On November 27, 2016, my mother and I went on an hour long drive to Pets Inc. At that instant, my mother pointed out that Pets Inc. was open. After we examined the website, we decided it was not too far away, and we could make the drive. We got in the car, and drove to Pets Inc. Finally, we got there, and we went inside. At first, I walked around for a while and pet some dogs. There was a dog named Palmetto, I really wanted her. Sadly, we could not get her due to the
It was a warm sunny summer afternoon, we were driving down a busy road when all of a suten my sister yelled,
Walking up to the shelter only to find that the dog we wanted is being taken home by another family, we thought we wouldn't be getting a dog today. But when we found her, we were glad that the other dog was taken. Her black, slicked back fur shedding off of her perfect dog body. Her black beady eyes are bulging out of her head with the look of excitement. Unable to hold herself back she breaks the leash that the vet was trying to hold her back with. Running to us, she slips and falls on her head. We don’t have a second to worry because she jumps up and starts licking our faces with her slobbery tongue. By the time she is tired from licking our faces, we feel as if we just went swimming in a pool of melting jello
Ruff! Ruff! Ruff! Is all Max could hear when he went to go get his first dog by himself. He was so excited to finally get a dog! Max had just graduated from college and was excited too live on his own. But what he was most excited to do was get a dog! .When he was little his parents never let him get a dog because they thought they were useless. Max had always loved dogs whenever he would go to friends houses he would always end up playing with their dog. Now he was happier than ever to finally get a dog! He was wondering which one to get,
I was cold, tired, hungry, and my left forepaw was twisted. It might have even been sprained. The cold rain made me shiver, and I hugged my six tails closer for warmth. Suddenly, a bright light enveloped me. I let out a yelp, and quickly hid behind a cluster of pipes.
One sunny day when I was on my way home, I saw a white dog wearing a green collar. The dog is trapped on the fence. The dog looks like he wanted to go out of that fence. I looked around if someone it’s someone's dog,but I didn’t see any people around. I didn’t want to leave the dog by himself in there, so I decided to take the dog to the Lost Dog Association.
I believe in my dog. I believe that she is way more than just a standard classified pet. How could she just be some domesticated dog? There’s no way; Bella is too understanding to be categorized as a pet or even a domesticated dog.
It was the 11th of January and we were going to get a new dog. The road has ice, snow and sleet. I had a headache and I was really tired. It was cold, cloudy, and bright. The ride was like a 4 hour ride because I slept through the whole thing and it was awesome. When I woke it we were still not there. So my mom, brother and I all played car games. When we got there it was loud and it made my head hurt even more than it did before. It was wet and really icy so I had to crawl. My mom asked “What are you doing on the ground.” I said “Crawling so I don’t fall on my butt or my side like I always do. When we went in we saw Peanut. The women said “The reason he has bad back legs is because he was at a puppy mill.” He was funny because he was slipping
As we took our first steps on the trail we had know idea that we would have walked ten miles total. It was all uphill and made of dirt. We had to cross rivers and watch out for rattlesnakes and buffalo. This would be one of the hardest hikes we did. It was tiring and hot. The heat waves in the distance seemed to make it feel hotter. As we kept going we arrived to our first obstacle.
A few months ago, my family was without a pet. Now, we have a sweet little puppy named Nellie. The day we got our dog was definitely a memorable one! It was an early morning at the Family Life No Kill Dog Shelter. Since the adoption process was first come first serve, we got there before the shelter opened and signed a little sheet on the outside of the door. On the sheet we were instructed to write our name and the dog we would like to meet and maybe adopt. Lots of people were outside, waiting in anticipation to meet the dogs. After the shelter opened, it was probably another hours wait until we could meet Nellie. Finally, our name was called. We followed an employee into a small room and told her we’re here to meet Nellie. The employee
Cars were honking everywhere trying to get around traffic. Horses ran in circles kicking dust up in the air making me sneeze. The dehydrated grass crunched under my shoes as I walk over it. The unpleasant smell of cow manure made me want to go back to the car. I kept walking anyway, the smell growing stronger. I walked with my Mom in the house. Where the puppies were kept. When I turned 11, before I got my dog, I had to choose between doing the responsibilities or not doing the responsibilities and not getting him.
have to watch a dog of a friend of my who went away for the weekend. Although she’s a nice little dog she barks with every single thing she hears or sees. I haven’t got a clue to how to make her quiet. I’ve been searching the internet on all these dog training sites, but they only offer long training sessions to stop dogs from barking and I need a quick solution. Today I encountered another small problem with Lola. Thats her name by the way. Lola really likes to hunt hares, when I took her for a walk this afternoon she spotted a hare in a field and darted off in persude off
I had moved out of my mother’s house and into my new boyfriend’s house six months prior.
Just about two summers ago, I went ziplining with my family. When we arrived we immediately got geared up
