My body was looking through the windows of the vehicle and me deliberating that he doesn't understand or comprehending what the police are asking him. Then when he started talking to the authorities that were in charge at the time. The authorities went up to them and started touching him all over. The man named Manuel was asking the authority’s in an Examination,” what are you doing touching me”. They were stating that they're doing their job. He went through the park, looking through the different types of areas. People are examination because he is walking around the area of phoenix wondering what he is accomplishment of where is about of the area was. The citizens are not responsive to his behaviors and thinking that because the area that
I was on my way to pick up a pizza I just ordered, and I was driving my roommate car. It was a black 2007 Cadillac CTS. So as I’m driving down the street I notice that they are a lot of police cars and I’m telling a friend of mine that was riding with me something isn’t right. I get to the last block on the street and I spotted another cop car and he flashes his lights and gets right behind me. Right before I know it about 10 plus police cars pull up flashing bright lights and blocking the entire street off. My teammate that was riding with we was so scared I had to calm him down. They had us sitting in the car for about 20 minutes and also have red beams all over the car, so now I’m getting a little nervous then finally they speak and give me all these direction to get out the car and when I finally turned around it was so many guns in face. I instantly get mad and filled with anger. They told me turn around and walk backwards then someone cuffed me and put me in the car. They did the same to my teammate. The cops were so scared it freaked me out. Then they rushed the car with their guns pointed at each angle of it thinking whoever they were looking for was in there. Once they realized we were good they asked us questions and let us know that they were looking for two black males in a black Cadillac. The two guys they were looking for had shot somebody. What’s crazy is, none of
In this autoethnoGraphic narrative study, I relay my lived experience of being a Black female art educator in a high school and the obstacles in gathering diverse art education materials on race and gender. The absence of Black female artists artwork in the K-12 art education classroom fits within a broader array expounding on the White gaze and the differences of how we look and how we see people. Therefore, this study is informed by the literature and theories related to the White gaze of Black women, feminist art education, and intersectionality (Collins 2000, Lorde, 2014; Thornton & Zambrana, 2017; Jonet, 2012). In the field of Black feminist thought, intersectionality details the lived experience of Black women that is different from
Due to my extreme interest in dentistry, I decided to join the Pre-Dental Organization. The club does not really have set meeting dates, but instead emails us when there is an upcoming meeting. These meetings vary greatly from learning how to prepare for the DAT to having guest speakers. All of this information is insanely helpful, as a solid DAT score is required to get into the dental school and guest speakers allow all of us to learn more about the field. The Pre-Dental Organization also lets us know of events that prepare us for being strong applicants to get into dental school.
Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! There was a knock the door late at night. There was a letter, it was from the manager at the sunny slope apartments. The next morning we opened the letter. It said we were getting evicted. We didn’t know why. But we knew what it meant, we had to move! We were so worried, because we didn’t know where we could move or even worst of all we didn’t know if we were going to have to move a different school. I had been at that school my whole life, and known all of my friends there.
When I moved to Brentwood, CA as a junior, I became part of the Interact Club. Interact is a service club for teenagers to work with the community and for the community through various events, service projects, and fundraising. I enjoyed being in Interact because I was able to meet new faces and explored Brentwood through their eyes. I dedicated my time to helping community events through doing cleanups and participating in events such as tending to booths at the fair.
Bare with me for another blog post about volleyball. This weekend was the Badger Region Volleyball Tournament, which my team participated in. When I walked into the building, the memories flooded in with scenes from the elevator adventures, cheese fries, and design your own sweatshirts. The first day, my team didn't play up our full potential, with my team only winning one out of three matches; which meant that we didn't place in any of the brackets, meaning zero chance of receiving a medal. However, at the end of the second match, I got switched from being middle all-around to libero ( a position where you only play back row on offense and defense). I guess it's an honor, but it puts a lot of pressure on me by labeling me as the best passer
Around two or three years ago my family and I had to move houses. Moving was sudden and we didn't know it was going to happen. This made moving out and into the other house a lot harder. Since we were moving so fast somethings we just decided to leave behind with the person that was still living there. We got most things with us but one thing that we did leave back in the old place was our living room tv. Since we had just moved and my family isn't rich my mom said we couldn't go get a new one for some time. This sucked because I used the tv a lot for watching show, movies, and playing games just like the rest of my family did. Having a tv wasn't something we needed at all but it was always something to do when you were bored and there was no other things to do. Another big thing was my grandma had just gotten us a new playstation 3 and now we weren't able to used it at all because there was no television. Not having a tv was bummer for me and I thought it was a huge problem when it really wasn’t.
At the start of the semester I had become more aware and grounded in my voice. In my everyday life, I would notice if I was holding my breath. The reason for this was because over the summer I had to stand-up to one of my shut-up judges, my dad. The incident was extremely emotional, and I coped with it through the use of my actor training; instead of checking out and holding tension, I chose to breathe deeply and stay grounded. This allowed me to speak up even when I was told to shut-up. This awareness of breath was developed through necessity rather than choice. I had to be strong. My strength didn’t only come from being grounded in my breath, but it also came using breathe to stay present in the room. The use of breath also allowed me to go into my body and release the build-up of emotions. As a result of these experiences, my voice was able to drop more consistently to my lower resonator rather than my typical chest voice.
“Better to fight for something than live for nothing” said George S. Patton. Fight for 15 movement started with fast food workers. The labor movement historically hasn 't organized workers that 's poor in a very long time. In the era of fair wages creators of the #FightFor15 sought to raising wages to $15/hr.
I quickly woke up to the sounds of loud sirens, I have no idea what is going on as I try to regaining my position. I'm noticing my hands are cuffed as I start to quickly realize what is going on. I start to frantically panic as my eyes finally adjust to my surroundings. I see that I'm clearly in the back of a cop car. I observed that the police officer is seeing that he is periodically looking in the rear view mirror then back to the road. I irrationally start to spit out nonsense before I solidly ask him in a shaky voice, “w-w-whats going on, why am I in here?” He looks back at me, giving out a quick chuckle, “oh you clearly know what you did darling, don't act innocent.” I then reply back, quickly giving him a confused stare “n-no
Geoffrey Chaucer was an English poet, born in 1342 into well-to-do merchant family. He got some of his education in Greek and Latin. He was a courtier, soldier, diplomat, administrator, knight of the Shire and a poet. He is the most musical, stylistically versatile poet but his language is different from the language we use today. The most famous work of the Chaucer is ‘The Canterbury Tales’. It is a descriptive poem rather a narrative. This poem is about the description of 30 people: rich and poor, secular and religious, good and bad. Each tells 2 stories on their way to Canterbury, to pass their time. All pilgrims are from different part of society and class. Chaucer is portraying a gallery of characters. His style is mixed with different
It was now around 10:30 P.M. and I was almost to my boyfriend’s house to deliver his food. At this point I didn’t even want to hang out anymore. I rode down the street when I noticed a cop. Given my history, I slowed down, double checked that my high beams were on, and made sure I signaled so that there was no reason to pull me over. I just remember thinking, I’m doing nothing wrong, just go about your business. By this point I was at the stop sign. Only one left turn from being outside of my boyfriend’s house. The police car was now behind me with its turn signal on. Once the coast was clear, I turned the corner. Then I heard a WOOP, WOOP! Bright blue and white lights started flashing and I pulled over to the side of his house. SHIT! I was at my destination but I couldn’t move. I couldn’t get out. I was stuck and terrified.
If my name were an acronym it would be K- Knowledge, E- Enthusiastic, L- Loyal, S- Sanguine, E- Engaged, and Y- Youthful, K.E.L.S.E.Y. K would represent knowledge because of my inclination for learning about new and unique facts. I’m inclined to find out new facts every day just to have an additional fact to keep in my head. The first E would begin the word enthusiastic because, I always look forward to the next event in life, and boast about what the event will bring. If I receive good news that is celebratory or eventful, I become filled with zest and my happiness becomes impenetrable because of the overwhelm avidity. L symbolizes Loyal because I will always stand by my family and friends remains true to my words, forbidding rumors and gossip to tear me away or separate me from the ones
Just then i heard a cop car, my heart stopped and I prayed they are here for us, like maybe just maybe the neighbors heard my yelling and called for help. Just the a there was knock on the door. “IT'S LIKE POLICE OPEN UP.” They men instantly ran through my house and out the windows in my room. Taylor and I ran down to tell the police what happened they saw the guys and chase after them. I hugged taylor crying, I still don't understand why the men did was they did or what money they were talking about. We called my parents and they came as quickly as they could i was still shaking I hugged them until i eventually fell
Anything to do with me is going to be difficult to write about. I feel like my life could be described as vague; an uneven amount of indefinite figures and stories. It goes along with any one of my family members. My gram is touchy and isn’t very fond of us grandkids, while my grandpa is a quiet guy who loves to play music for everyone and has a depression that has been eating away at him for more than a year. That’s my mom’s side, and we’re going over there less and less often. I haven’t talked to the grandparents on my dad’s side because he stopped talking to his parents more than 10 years ago. I always think it would be so easy to turn that around since they only live a two minute drive away, but I don’t want it to seem as if I’m betraying
