According to the National Center for Education, about 80 percent of the students in the United States end up changing their major at least once. In fact, I myself am part of that 80 percent. Not only did I change my major, I changed Universities in order to discover who I’am and find a suitable career for me.
I went through a lot in life as a child. Growing up was not easy as a kid ( especially
Certainly by now, you know my name. However, I prefer to go by Mia. I have been a student at SBVC since fall of 2013. I know... it seems like a long time. The reason for that is I am a double major. In Spring of 2018 I will be graduating with my Associate's degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. I work extremely hard on my educational career goals. For example, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and am an honor student. I currently work on-call for a local school district and enjoy every minute of it. I am also a creative writer, which I haven't had much time to do lately, but plan to get back to it as time allows. In fact, one of my newest ventures is marketing in the digital economy, so my creative writing will definitely get
Curiosity is what brings me to the University of Michigan. All the sweat and determination and hard work, I have put in all my life will pay off when I get into the school of my dreams. The countless of hours and stress I put myself in will pay off when my job is something I love. My drive is what distinguishes me from everyone else. I have one goal, to have a career I love doing. All along that has been my drive. The only thing is, my goal was too broad. This is because I personally believe it’s hard to make a decision now about what I want my life to be, when this is the time where were barely trying to figure ourselves out. So aside from my goal, my drive was to get good grades, to have the best attendance, to be the best in my class.
Every day I went into work I knew one thing: one of the residents would not know who I was. He had seen me before. In fact, he had seen me more days than not in the last year. He held conversations with me, danced, went out in the community for various events, helped me cook, ate the food I made, and prayed with me every night. Despite that, every day he met me for the first time all over again.
In the past couple of years, I have attended presentations by Westinghouse Science Honors Institute and Sam Rhine about bioengineering, stem cells, genetics, and regenerative medicine. These lectures have played such an important role in my decision to major in biomedical engineering at college. This internship would be an amazing opportunity for me to gain even more knowledge about this area of science. The information and experience I would gain at this internship would be an excellent start to my life after high school graduation. Seeing first-hand research on regenerative medicine would give me a taste of what I will be doing in the future as a biomedical engineer. In addition, going into college with the knowledge I would gain at this internship
Starting with the personal plan in stage one, meeting with an academic counselor to create and follow a plan for degree completion I think is key for being on track to successfully finishing at Normandale. I think a lot of people tend to be on the more confused side with all of the classes they have to take and actually figuring out which ones they truly need can be a struggle. Two days ago I met with a counselor to figure out which classes I needed to take to be on schedule for completing at the end of this academic year with an associate’s degree and being ready to transfer, with engineering having similar standards at many schools I was unsure of which school to go to. The adviser really gave me an idea of the correct direction to go and
Over the past few years there has been a number of events in my life to influence my decision to excel in my college career. Life is always full of choices and decisions but what we choose to do with the obstacles put in front of us is the real challenge. A few of the events are as follows; my baptism, my new found purpose for my life and my pregnancy. The first and most influential event leading me to excel in college is my baptism. Over the past few years I have struggled with my faith and even at times questioned what in my heart I knew to be true. It wasn't until my mom became a big influence in my life that I had found my way back to God, and at that moment God started to work his way back into my life and guide me back to him. In this essay I will identify the reason I want to continue my education through Spring Arbor University. I am currently a registered nurse in an emergency department and have been for almost 6 years. I have been in charge of the unit many times and have enjoyed teaching others. I would like to advance my degree for multiple reasons. The primary reason is that a Master’s degree is distinguishable and shows commitment to the field of nursing. Furthermore, it shows dedication and motivation of an individual to complete a degree that only about ten percent of nurses are able to accomplish.
My very first choice is elementary education. I chose elementary education, because I love working with children, and I have had the opportunity to work with them as a teacher’s aide giving me the enjoyable insight of what it’s like to teach.
My decision to major in engineering was heavily influenced by several factors. One influence on my decision was my dad. My dad is a software engineer, and my whole life I thought what he did was incredible. When I was young, he would spend time teaching me to code and in high school he assisted coaching the software portion of my robotics team. While working with my dad to write code for robotics I fully realized what went into coding, and I immediately loved it. He would also bring computers home from work, and helped me to build a computer when I was young, which got me interested in hardware and computers. His influence on my life is what set me on the path of engineering.
I was raised to be a Purdue fan. My dad attended in 1986, seven out of nine of his siblings attended, so growing up I was always told I could “follow in my family’s footsteps”. When I was younger I accompanied my father at Boiler sporting events, dressed to the nines in black and gold. I would clap when he clapped. Cheer when he cheered. High fived those around me like he did. However, I did not feel like I belonged there, and that is what led me here. It was not until I met David Hon, who would eventually become my stepdad, in 2010. He had graduated with a Bachelor’s degree at Indiana University, the school I was brought up to despise. One day he took me to see the campus and the flowers, trees, and the general simplicity of nature and my
I believe that there is no exceptional choice for me other than Boston University. Not only do I find the campus beautiful,I feel that I belong here.My college adviser is the one who promoted this school for my best interest.I come from an International Baccalaureate background as a student in Curtis High School. This program helps me since it is both rigorous and teaches college material. This is why I believe I will fit since I come from a rigorous work load.
