Why "Liberalism" is Dead: I've been a silent observer for a while, and usually like to keep my views to my self, but given that this hit home here are my $0.02. I inherently respect the right to gather peacefully and imperically reject any group any group that would incite or promote violence. Unfortunately, I do sense a increase shift of popularism (whether it's from the right or left), group thought, and a loss of individualism and humanastic values upon us. People used to just assume I'm a liberal giving my opinions towards some views. However, I empirically reject the modern use of the word Liberal or Conservative. Liberalism used to mean:" I don't necessarily support your views, but hey I will defend your right to speak them" and that
“On Political Labels” explains the evolution of the words: liberal and conservative. He goes into detail that back in the 19th century and early 20th century a liberal was one that believed in less regulation and less government in your personal
A definition of the word liberal is: “believing that government should be active in supporting social and political change: relating to or supporting political liberalism.”
The day I had been waiting for had finally come; it was October 29, 2015, and I was going to vote for the federal election at Thistletown C.I.'s school cafeteria just like any other Canadian citizen. There were two main reasons as to why I wanted to vote that day; one was because I wanted to see a change in Canada and another was that I didn't want the Conservatives to win again since I didn't agree with some of their promises. I voted for the New Democratic Party because their promises in jobs, families, and healthcare can help Canada become more prosperous, affordable. The party which didn't impress me as much was the Conservative Party because their promises on energy and environment, manufacturing and infrastructure, and public finances
I didn’t believe in aliens until I was abducted by them. I was put in some kind of contraption and I’m not sure what happened exactly, but it’s clear that I’m not where I was. Everything in 2016 is different, I don’t know if I’m in a different state or not but people are dressing differently and acting differently, and the cars, the cars are all different! I’ve been here for quite some time now and have noticed a lot of differences from where I lived in Oceanside, California in 1940. I’ve been transported to the year 2016 and there are so many things that have changed and evolved and among them are political, economic, social, and cultural changes.
From the beginning of my campaign, there have been many misconstructions about the way my platform is built. It’s hard to run a liberal campaign in a city where the word liberal is closely related to the idea of someone coming to take your guns away. However, my platform is not just progressive. It’s moderate. My plan is to work with my republican counterparts, how it should be, to achieve a future that’s agreeable with the average United States citizen. This campaign is about making the world a better place to live in for all of our people – not for just some of them.
I have been living here in Crescent Valley Mobile Home Park for nearly 15 years, and I have never had problems with any neighbor. That is, until a woman moved into space #30 about two years ago. That was when the lives of my children were completely turned upside down. The aforementioned woman makes our lives seemingly impossible, and I really can’t take the stress.
America: the land of the free. Over 300 million people live on this hunk of land and there's a lot to this country if you haven’t already realized from the farms in the Midwest to the big urban cities. There are so many paths to success and happiness in this country: you can pretty much be anything if you try hard enough. This won’t be the case for all people, simply because they aren't good at that certain thing that they want to do. But think of all of the many things you can do. You can have a job in the trades and work with your hands, you could be a graphic designer and make billboards, you can go into the business world and try to open up your own business like opening up a restaurant. Being an American means to be the fullest version
I would like to see who could survive as long he did with just books that state some facts. We all have this idea that we could do better then anyone else. For example, the elections are coming up. Numerous people believed that Barack Obama was a lousy president and can not wait to see him leave. The same people also say how they would be a much better president than him. I have no idea how to run a country with millions of people in it and I have a very high suspicion that others who aren’t in politics no either. Just like this not everyone is an expert on how to survive in Alaska.
Some people may be confused in what responsibility even means. Does it mean be nice, make good decisions, and do what you're told? I've been taught many responsibilities throughout my life and the most important one is to try my hardest to walk in the light of Jesus. To do this I try to learn from my mistakes, treat others the way I want to be treated. Whenever I get the opportunity I bring God into the subject to try to show every one what a loving and caring father he his no matter how many mistakes you've made. I want people to know that no matter what they do or say to me, I will never deny my beliefs for God I will always shine my light and try to impact as many lives as I can. We are one Nation under God and I believe that's our responsibility to keep it that way.
In this life everyone in the world has opportunities, especially people from United States. In this country everyone is able to find financial help, either from the government or organizations, for education (Scholarships, FAFSA), and for health (Obama care, financial assistance). Sadly, some people are lazy or they just can’t get the help.
It’s been 2 years, 35 days and 22 minutes, and I’m still peeking through the dismal, damped window to just have a look at my family. Though years have passed but I still see my mother stepping out of the door every morning with the hope that her daughter Selina Dimp, would arrive. If only she knew that our separation would result to her survival, the urge and temptation to step in my house, smell the aroma of my ever favorite lasagna, tease little Jason and be in the arms of my mother has grown extremely more. No matter how many years have passed but the plague is still out there on our streets, infecting every person I love , my own brother and my entire Nation. As always, the newsboard flashes “The Republic of America war against the Democratic of America is still in progress” , the same old news by the government but for the first time it shows something that gives me a leap of faith for a second. The
America is a nation built on the backs of the weak. People from all forms of faith, belief, and nationalities came together, from persecuted, backgrounds to build the nation we exist in. My family was one such group of people. Irish immigrants, we moved from the homeland to the New World to be rid of a famine that was starving our people. In America we found new opportunities, but also much opposition. Racial classification and prejudice ruled in the mid to late 60s and beyond. This was during the time that Mr. Bernie Sanders began his rise to power. With a platform of protecting the weak, and building the middle class. This man is poised to revolutionize America. In the face of adversity, he stands firm and strong.
After Trump’s surprising win of the presidency, many liberals did not know what to do with themselves. This is because not only did Trump win the presidency which is one of a liberals worst nightmares; but along with this the Republicans have gained control of congress, and according to the article, they’re “increasingly in control of state governments and state legislatures,"(de Vogue). If I were an abortion supporting liberal right now, I would be extremely upset too. I would fear that if I am a supporter of abortion in Texas, and Roe V. Wade is to be repealed I would be fearful that I would have to leave the state to have an abortion. And this might not be an easy road trip, if I live in East Texas, to my east is the deep south Of Louisiana,
I came to the United Stated from Poland at the age of six. I grew up in a very liberal city and believed that I was a liberal as well. Everyone around me, my teachers and my peers, always denounced conservative beliefs. I never took the time to actually learn and research the facts for myself. In January 2016, when the election was 11 short months away, I realized that it was time to learn about the candidates in order to make an educated vote. With this, it was necessary to learn, for myself, about the political parties. This was when I realized that my views and beliefs did not align with the Democratic Party and that I am actually a conservative. Those around me did not take kindly to my newly discovered beliefs and I lost many friends,
Confessing one 's political identity in 2016 truly embodies the phrase “walking on eggshells”. Whether you’re a liberal or conservative, owning up to your political resolutions sometimes comes with some intense backlash. In this years’ presidential election we have an intense candidate with very radical views, and if you don 't know who I’m talking about you should probably move from the rock you are living under. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has gained a immense popularity amongst not only the American public but Internationally as well. His chauvinist rhetoric, egotistical outlook, and how he continuously fabricates lies upon lies has truly brought him into the public eye. Hearing Trumps incredibly horrifying agenda makes me proud to admit that I am a Democrat, a solid liberal to be exact. As a solid liberal I believe in the power of the people and that means all people.Whether you are rich, poor, black, white, gay, or straight building and creating a nation that caters to people inherently means doing right by the economy and when we do well for the economy we do well for everyone.
