1. Describe your interest in participating in Bike and Build. What is it about this opportunity that most excites you? What qualities will you bring to your team? What do you hope to get out of this experience? How do you envision this experience affecting your future?

Some people are great at sports, some people are great at music; I am an amateur at that. I am a great volunteer. One of my favorite concepts in Judaism is “Tikkun Olam,” or “Repair the World.” In Hebrew school, I was taught that we have an obligation to help others. I am most passionate about volunteering and making the world a better place. Throughout high school, I devoted hundreds of hours to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Youth United and ReStore, among other projects. In college, I volunteer as Vice President of Service for Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity, and spend about 150 hours per semester volunteering. The opportunity to participate in Bike and Build will affect my future goals in volunteerism, working with non-profits and continuing to advocate for the affordable housing cause.
I am motivated, enthusiastic, patient, helpful and independent. My older brother and I have always been rather competitive, which is why I enjoy challenges. Other than the physical challenge of this opportunity, I hope to connect with the other riders and locals in the communities that we visit and help.
