Personal and Professional Characteristics
Ronelle Stevens A goal is something that an individual aims to achieve in his or her lifetime. I have many personal goals for my life, both short-term and long-term. Most of my personal goals are lifetime goals such as staying happy and healthy, maintaining a close relationship with God, and striving to be the best role-model that I can be for others. In the next two years, I hope to get married and continue building on to the house that I own with my boyfriend. I aim to start a family of my own in the next five years after I have a steady career in nursing. My professional nursing goals are ample. A strength that I feel as though I hold is that I do set very high goals for myself which makes me push myself to accomplish whatever I set my mind to. This strength will help me in the nursing field in that I will always devote myself to caring for others, which is the biggest goal that I have in life. Lastly, I enjoy listening to others and developing relationships with others which I believe is definitely a strength in the nursing field. How stress is managed differs individually. As I previously mentioned, I have had many stressful situations occur in my lifetime. However, I feel as though the most stressful time in my life occurred in the previous year. Last year I worked two jobs while taking classes full-time at two separate colleges. I was taking my regular classes at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln while also picking up classes at Southeast Community College to try to finish my coursework before applying to nursing school. I found myself constantly working or driving between schools. To get through this stressful situation, I made a tight schedule that I had to adhere to for the semester. I relied heavily on my family and friends for support and I pushed through the semester. I learned to think through the stress by finishing one task at a time. Overall, I feel as though stressful times such as this help me to develop time-management skills which will benefit me in my nursing
