While reading this article and thinking about my answers, I became aware that this article is more relevant than I originally thought. I’m currently a junior and it came to me that I’ll be potentially interviewing for accounting jobs approximately a year from now. I started to think about my experiences during my internship, school, and athletics. I’ll discuss my experiences working in a team, setting and reaching goals, handling challenges, and facing a difficult situation. These questions and answers will help me with job interviews in the near future. “Give an example of how you worked on a team.”. I think working on a team is very important, not just in the workplace, but in life in general. There will be a lot of times in life where you won’t be able to accomplish a goal by yourself. This question takes me back to last semester in my stats class. One of the projects that we were assigned was a partner presentation. We were given three weeks to meet up, plan, structure, and create a twenty-minute presentation. The first thing we had to do was contact each other and find a time to meet. When we met, we brainstormed ideas for the presentation. Sometimes our ideas wouldn’t always be on the same page. We compromised on our ideas to make the presentation the best it could be. Once we brainstormed ideas, we then agreed on the structure of the slides and who would speak for what points. Once we had everything thought out, we then used google docs. on our own time to build the
While I appreciated that one of my peers provided feedback on my work, I feel that the feedback that was provided did not fulfill the assignment. My peer did not provide detailed feedback on my paper that could be adequately incorporated in my review and revisions. Most of the information that was provided as feedback were simply statements that reiterated what the prompt question was. Please see the below feedback provided to me by my peer.

Ever since I began reading as a small child, I have loved literature and the written word. However, even though this has always been the case, I originally was not a literature major when I entered Arizona State University. Instead, I began my college career as a Physics major. What I came to realize after completing some of the required courses for the major was not that I was not good at physics since I had done exceptionally in all my classes, but that I was more interested in reading the articles and writing the assignments for my classes than I was in actually doing research in the physics department. Therefore, even as I was pursuing an entirely different degree, my love of literature and writing was still fundamental to my learning, and it was this that eventually lead to me changing my major to English Literature. Coming to this decision to switch majors was difficult, however the experience was beneficial in the long run. Not only am I now enjoying the work I am doing as a student more, I also understand that writing, editing, and reading critically is important to all disciplines. Had I not first begun my
One important lesson that I learned after getting certified as a sniper is the importance of selecting and adjusting a quality trigger. When shooting it’s important to have an adjustable trigger that will allow the shooter to have a light and crisp shot. In the military a heavier two stage trigger is used, and this aids a soldier with better accuracy under pressure and when using winter gloves. It allows the soldier to feel a little extra creep or bump before the shot breaks. If these rifles are used in the civilian market, the trigger may need replacement to accommodate the bench rest or sports shooter.

Writing is the unlimited practice of expressing one’s own ideas and beliefs. It is complicated and confusing at times, but once you understand what the writer is trying to say, it becomes in adventure. For me writing is difficult because I truly never learned how to write. I struggled in English for SAT and in Reading for the SAT, but I always tried to better myself. I learned that writing isn’t about how the grammar necessarily, writing is about what the content is telling you. Writing is trying to grab the audience to read your story. It is your chance to have a voice and have chance for people to hear you. Writing is the necessity to learning and the necessity to life. It connects everyone around you with you. This practice will continue to flourish and will always be an important quality.
In Aug. 2010, I completed my B.S. in Environmental science concentration in biology at Taylor University. Courses I have taken, allowed me to be familiar with different aspects of biology, ecology and geology. As a result, I was able to experience the tangibility of these fields, for example gathering and analyzing field samples. Furthermore, one summer was spent taking and examining water quality samples, as well as examining plants and animal specimens. For my senior project, I designed and completed a practicum, where I removed invasives plants from a local forest near my hometown. After accomplishing the objectives, the superintendent offer me the position of a natural resource specialist.
Business writing has been quite refreshing and rewarding for me, expanding my ability to write professionally. I have learned the different methods for business writing, such as resume and interview tips, proof reading for 30 minutes or so, and the different forms of correspondence writing. Also, we study how to write effectively without being excessively long, getting right to the point. Even being able to update my resume and cover letter, and writing memos for work is much better.
When it comes to reading for information, I tend to go back and forth to the scuba diver and a guy on a Jet Ski. It depends on what I am reading per say, if I find what I am reading interesting then I read more in depth rather than something I find unappealing. Generally speaking, when I look for information for a given assignment, I tend to ‘treasure hunt’ for information and facts I believe are relevant to the topic I am assigned to. I do not give myself the time to actually dive into readings if I am looking for specific information. The reason to why I do this is because I must find information quickly in order to start the writing process and finish the given assignment. As the first five weeks of Writing 39B have passed, I believe that I have made some improvements in my writing as a result of the feedback from the professor, the multiple writing assignments, and reading the Anteater’s Guide to Writing and Rhetoric. Although I can still improve in all facets of my writing, the progress I have made so far was very much needed.
As I reflect on the drafting of this paper I recall frustration, but also achievement. I struggled initially because writing is not one of my best traits and it was hard for me to communicate my ideas thoroughly. However, as I continued to research more information and edit my paper, the writing became easier. I feel as though I learned a great deal about the topic, which allowed the writing to flow smoothly. Overall, I think that once I had more knowledge on diabetes, I was able to communicate the effects very easily. In the future I think I need to begin researching earlier, as well as fully understanding what the topic is before I begin to write. My name is Theresa Laquita Williams. I was born in Palatka Florida but I now reside in Zion Illinois with my husband. I am in my second year at the College of Lake County. Upon completion of my Associate of Arts degree I am planning to transfer to a university to get my bachelorette degree in social work. The activities I completed during the course of this semester expanded my knowledge on teaching towards equity and diversity. Assignments such as the autobiographical essay and cultural experience report gave me an opportunity to document the things that I learned and will influence my performance as a future educator. Working with a group to explain our assigned part of the RME and traveling to Paterson for our community study report exposed me to different perspectives on how I want to identify as a teacher in the future. Learning how to apply diverse forms of literature such as the haiku showed me how to include diverse forms of learning into my class. I think it should be the goal of the teacher to improve the student in at least one way before they finish their class with them. I can say that I have seen improvements in myself while taking this writing course. It is interesting to analyze yourself because sometimes changes can be so gradual that you scarcely notice them happening; it is only when reflecting upon them that you notice a change has even been made. Throughout this class I have seen changes in my skill set, including my ability to research and communicate what is expected of me, while inserting personality and character into the subject matter. For some individuals attending school is not a very appealing prospect. School can seem like another hoop to go through to get somewhere else. The school system enforces the mindset of living for the future; we start from kindergarten to first grade, second grade third grade and so on. We are constantly running to get from one place to another, as if the best thing is not at the moment we are in, but where we are running to.
